Dallas says: "This is where I bow out, so like, I wanna have the chance to talk about this song. Sorry that I'm going for two in a row and being all dominant and stuff. We'll explain a bit more in a while, but this penultimate song of the record is the last one you hear me sing on, which is probably weird for a lot of people, but definitely worth it. This song sees an end to what was the little emo period we went through for the last few tracks there, and returns to a more raw pop-punk song. We felt it was important to honor ourselves and what we do - or at least what we are known for - towards the end of the record. At this stage of many records, bands or singers are starting to think about the finish line, and for many I think it's easy to put like filler tracks on at this point. You know, most people listening to a CD don't have the levels of concentration it takes to get to this point of the record. I'm sure I read somewhere that the average number of songs a listener will actually pay attention to on an album is like....8...so it makes sense to do filler from thereon out. However.....however, some pop-punk albums throughout the year have thrown out some absolutely killer songs right at the end of albums. You got the likes of The Story So Far from NFG or Wendy Clear from Blink, which could not come closer to the end of their respective records than they do, and they are some of the best songs by those bands. So yeah, we've gone for some real hard raw pop-punk here in this track to end the "main part" of the album. What I love about this track is how like bouncy and upbeat it is for something that's thematically quite bleak. The song is about someone, be it a friend, family member or a partner, who's holding you back and generally making your life a bit shitty by trying to stop you growing into the person that you should be. But it's also about the realisation of that. When I was writing the lyrics for this one, I was well aware of the fact that a lot of people are held back by someone but can't see it. We've all had that friend who has a significant other that is just poisonous to them, but although it's so damn obvious to us, somehow they seem oblivious to it. This is about that side of things, and then the realisation and the whole kicking someone to the kerb when they are shitty like that to you, which I think is pretty cool. Musically, I think it's great. The intro is cool and picky and fiddly like Kellin seems to love, and which I think is almost becoming the sort of signature of Juneau now. It is something that you'll hear in a pop-punk song, and you'll be like "Hey that's Juneau". The verses also seem to almost like run...I know that makes no sense but I know what I mean. Like...even though the riff is quite chunky and bouncy, it flows so well that everything feels liquid and fluid and fast, which is my favourite kind of pop punk. It's also quite melodic for a fast tune, and that's another thing I like. I think it's the chorus where the song really comes alive though. The slow down before it, and then that huge change of pace before Kellin comes in is just majestic. And then there's another key change halfway through the chorus, that moment when the guitars kick into overdrive that I just love this. Honestly, this could be our Wendy Clear. It's really late in the album, but it is, without any doubt, one of my favourite songs on the record, and it's one of those that always makes its way into our live setlist as well, which is really cool for what most people would consider a "filler track". Juneau doesn't do filler. We never take that foot off the pedal, for real."

I dream and start to sink in
To this fantasy, lust
Still eyeballing me with a look of disgust
But the way that you lay I'm just feeling so gone

And now the morning comes in so bright
But you look nothing like you did back then
You remind me of winter in springtime
A beach wrought with landmines
And now the clouds are forming, the rain starts to descend

And I told you that I would be gone someday...

You always knew that one day
You would be on my back as I race for the line
I never stood in one place
I said they would know my face
I bet you're glad that you stayed
Kept up the game that we played
Now I can finally reach for the top
You slow down at the stop
Sign along with the deaf kids
And feel fatigue in your eyelids
I know that I'll never return to the days that we wasted
And I'm cursed with the thought that you laced it
And I'd struggle to find the words when you slip me inside

Don't build me up just to drag me back to earth
You gave me this confidence, gifted me worth
And now all I see is the claws that you sharpen
The target on my back grows ever more apparent

I never judged you on your imperfections
Never walked away when you spread the infection
The hatred, the guilt, the fortress we built
Will never stand up to this change in direction

You always knew that one day
You would be on my back as I race for the line
I never stood in one place
I said they would know my face
I bet you're glad that you stayed
Kept up the game that we played
Now I can finally reach for the top
You slow down at the stop
Sign along with the deaf kids
And feel fatigue in your eyelids
I know that I'll never return to the days that we wasted
And I'm cursed with the thought that you laced it
And I'd struggle to find the words when you slip me inside

Scratch the surface and you'll find that no one ever wins
It's a lottery, while I'm at the top you're searching through bins
If your numbers come up, be sure I'll ask for nothing
You played your hand too early, made it clear that you were bluffing
Held my nerve
Played the swerve
Gave it back
Took your flak
You should have kept it all to yourself
You should have never shared your wealth

Dallas says: "I wanna just interject for a moment here, while Kellin best thinks about how to talk about this track. This one, for Juneau as a whole, was like, what, a gift to Kellin? We decided to do this long before all his solo stuff took off, and it was purely in recognition to the guy. This is a Kellin Falconer solo track, and not a Juneau song, but we thought it was a wonderful way to round off the record. Kellin has always been the driver and the architect behind all of this. The guy writes all of the music, pushes us all to be the best we can be, and has without a doubt been the main reason for us getting even anywhere close to our dream of being professional musicians. So this was a chance for us to allow the genius that is Kellin to just showcase himself with a really heartfelt and beautiful acoustic track. It really is a fantastic song, and probably objectively the best track on the record, in all probability. It meant a lot to the rest of us to be able to allow Kellin to write and record a song that would show the world how diverse, emotional and talented he could be, and so this is it. I really hope people love it like it deserves. Anyway, back to the man himself."

Kellin says: "Thanks dude. Okay, so when the guys first came to me and said that they wanted to finish off the album with a track that was just me on my own, I was a little apprehensive. I mean, this is a Juneau record, and I didn't want to end it with like a "look at me" sorta thing going on, but they insisted. I just didn't want people to take a look at me and think I was just trying to hog the limelight, because I'm honestly not that sort of guy, even if it does come across like that from time to time. This track...well it's a simple track, but it's the sort of thing I've grown to love writing more and more over the last few years, because I just love the simplicity of it. Sometimes I love writing big powerful riffs and cool little intricate licks, but a lot of the time I just wanna take a step away from that and write something that's purely about the lyrics. Musically, this has very little. It's just a dude and an acoustic guitar playing a subtle backing track. I think that allows the lyrics to be the focal point, and certainly for me, that's a situation where you take the chance to just sit back and really think about what you're singing about, rather than just being like "fuck yeah, this sounds good." You need to focus on the intricacies and emotions of what you're doing, and it takes a lot to get that to shine through, but I hope I've managed here. It's essentially a song about having to get away from home but then realising how big and scary the world can be. I wrote this track the very first time we went on a proper tour. We had been out for a few weeks, away from Chicago, and at this point we had just landed in New York. I was walking through Central Park, and I just had this overwhelming feeling of missing home. It was intense. Like at that moment, I just wanted to get on a plane and fly back to Illinois. So I lay on the grass, and I just thought about everything - how far I had come in life, how far I was from home, and what I needed to get through it all. So yeah, it explores the idea of missing home quite intensely, but then it also talks about comfort. It's like the notion of having someone who can calm you and make you feel like all your problems are gone. That was actually a part of the song I added a lot later. It didn't have a chorus for the longest time - it wasn't even going to have one at first and it was just gonna be a lament to home - but then I meant someone who just makes me feel like everything is always gonna be alright when I'm around her. I think it's important to have someone like that in your life. It stops everything spiraling out of control. Do I love her? Yeah, I do, and this song is dedicated to Ansley and the way she makes me feel peaceful and happy. She makes homesickness not hurt so much, and she makes me feel like I'm at home. How to round this off? The song is simple, peaceful and to me it's beautiful. This is all Kellin, and you've heard songs like this from me in the past. But this is in the Juneau context, and I would say if there's one song on the record I'd love to resonate with people, this would be it. Love is an amazing thing, and when you find that one person, it's the most amazing feeling in the world.

"And, hey, I hope you've all enjoyed the album. It's been a long time coming, but we are extremely proud of all we've done, and we love this record. I hope you can find something to connect with in here. Much love forever, from all the guys in Juneau."

Laid down for just a second
In a city that never sleeps
I closed my eyes for a moment
To shield my vision from the sun
I drag myself to my feet
But I can't stay, because
It's not where I feel at home

Oh, I can't stand around

Well my time was up
Could I find someone
To make me feel home when I'm not around
And pulls me back to where I ran aground
We'll talk about weather
And walk straight through the storm
And she'll, bring me daylight
Knowing what's in my mind
She eyes the prize
But I'm longing to go back home
So no, I'm bleeding alone

What's love but a story to pull you astray
Away from all you learned
And all you left behind
Is this the only way?
No but deep inside
I've been winning since the last time
I realised I don't need your tears
No my heart's been craving you for years

Well my time was up
Could I find someone
To make me feel home when I'm not around
And pulls me back to where I ran aground
We'll talk about weather
And walk straight through the storm
And she'll, bring me daylight
Knowing what's in my mind
She eyes the prize
But I'm longing to go back home
So no, I'm bleeding alone

Lead me, weak, cos I've been so low
But the city's coming back and I'm coming home
Lead me, weak, cos I've been oh so low
But the city's coming back so I should let you know
This is where I came from

Laid down for just a second
In a city that never sleeps
I closed my eyes for a moment
To shield my vision from the sun

You know I need someone to
Make me feel home when I'm not around
To pull me right back to where I ran aground
We'll talk about weather
And walk straight on through the storm
And she'll, bring me daylight
Knowing what's in my mind
She eyes the prize
But I'm longing to go back home
I'm not leaving alone

She eyes the prize
But I'm longing to go back home
I'm not leaving alone

OOC: Nobody can quite do a Rock album like you can :P Always love your lyrics and even a few sound alikes, but I'm not gonna be rude and just say you're like the top 3 lyricist because A. That makes no sense and B. I know how many people really work hard to write their lyrics but I really love your lyrics all the time, never had a bad lyric since I've seen you release a song on here :) Excellent job on all of this and glad you finally moved your arse and got this done!

Hayden: Super proud to have you guys on my tour, it really makes me want to brag at all the quality acts I have on my tour. You guys have done well for yourself in the years you've been active and I respect your humble rise to fame but we know this is just the beginning and I expect to be sitting here in like 20 years time, buying your 'Juneau: Greatest Hits: Volume 1' disc set. If I had to play favorites here, I'd say that 'Silence,' 'Stronger//Younger,' and 'Where I Need To Be' lyrically do it for me but I enjoy the entire album from start to finish.

Dallas: We definitely need more rock music, Chris, I agree. There's not many bands bringing out pure rock albums in any genre these days. Thanks for listening!

I'm glad you enjoyed it, and thanks lol, I don't think my lyrical skills are all that, but I try my best. Thanks again :)

Kellin: Hey, man, and thanks. It's been a pleasure to be on the tour so far and to play alongside such amazing acts. I'm sure the rest of the guys will feel the same from tomorrow haha. Yeah this last year has been crazy. To go from just having a moderate fan base to having our album released all around the world is absolutely insane, but we love it. Here's hoping we can continue on that trajectory towards a greatest hits album from here on out. Good choices there. Silence is personally my least favourite haha but I'm glad you liked Where I Need to Be. That's a big track for me. Thanks again, dude.

OOC: Thanks, man. Glad you liked it. Yeah, I don't know why it's taken me all these years to do a pop-punk album on here, what with all the associate nostalgia and stuff.

Kellin: Wow, thanks for the feedback dude! That means a lot!

OOC: Really well written lyrics and descriptions too from the band members from start to finish. I love Dallas's logic in Free Wheeling when he's like the average listener listen's to like 8 songs ha, but felt like why the hell throw in fillers at the end? We're a pop punk band that can deliver killer songs at the end like all the others lol. They all seem to be very in tune with the album and what it's about instead of saying "Yeah this is a song about love, this is a song about this and that but it's very indepth and realistic which helps you understand the album more. My favorite tracks are Whino, Pounding Sidewalks and Born To Ride. Everything's really good here but those really, really stood out to me. Congrats on finally getting this done!

Ooc: Thanks Jaime, I'm glad you liked it lol. Yeah I tried to make it more than just them talking about the song, because I was struggling with doing descriptions so i thought being more in depth with the band talking about tracks would make a difference lol. glad it worked and came across well. Plus it helps that this is my favorite kind of music lol, so it's easy for me to have a connection to the songs and stuff lol. Thanks again.

Dustyn: Aw, Dally!! I is super proud of you and the guys. I know that this record has been a long time coming for you all. You was working your cute little butt off years before we even met and since I've known you, I has seen just how hard you work. I know that for you and the rest of the guys, this album and the band itself really means a lot to you. The hard work, all the effort and dedication has definitely paid off. It's a great album but it could do with a Madonna cover. I is thinking Vogue or Express Yourself ;P Well done, guys!! :)

OOC: This genre is not really my thing as you know. It's either boy bands, 90's R&B or gtfo lol. However, I can honestly say that I did enjoy this album from start to finish and I didn't even base my opinion on the soundalikes. Sometimes I sense that people stay away from threads that aren't really their thing musically but if someone posts an entire album filled with soundalikes they enjoy in real life, they'll gravitate towards it a lot more. This is me basically commending your skills as a writer :P Through the lyrical content, descriptions and those fantastic commentaries, you've made this one of the top RP albums this year. It was the words that really got me and that's the most important thing on a site like this. I didn't even bother listening to the soundalikes. I have to highlight "Stronger//Younger", "These Lonely Years" and "Free Wheeling" as my favourites.

OOC: Thanks. Yeah, you've said it all there really, a lot of people have an inability to separate RP from what they listen to in real life, which is a shame. An RP is an RP at the end of the day, and hey, it's what we're all here for. But thanks for reading, and I'm glad you enjoyed reading it. I don't think it was my best work, but it took me a hell of a long time to get it finished, so thanks for taking the time to read through it all.
