Fuck, how did I miss that? I also share a birthday with Leni Riefenstahl! For the unaware she created some really powerful propaganda movies for Nazi Germany in the 30s, she won awards across the globe for Triumph of the Will. The ideas behind the film are of course deplorable, but it hardly detracts from the aesthetic power of it. Deng Xiaoping too, who took over after Mao died in China and is basically responsible for China being the horrible mish-mash of free markets and overwhelmingly totalitarian government that won't let go of an ounce of power. Apparently Karlheinz Stockhausen too. Lots of shithot people born on my birthday. Good omens for me 8-)
And I thought it was just Layne Staley, Tori Amos & John Lee Hooker. Also got Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, who plays Mr Eko in Lost & was Adebisi in the mighty Oz. |
