Man, I'm all about the hip-hop. And Straight Outta Compton is up there with groups like Ultramagnetic MCs, Public Enemy & Eric B & Rakim as most important hip-hop groups of the 80s. Not so keen on 90s mainstream hip-hop, I have seriously problems with the whole gangster rap thing in that it's all a horrid cliché & is responsible for clowns like Fiddy Cent, but at the same time, Nas was great.

But I'm more about "alternative" artists like El-P, Aesop Rock, Mos Def, Del The Funky Homosapien, and then as a Public Enemy fan I love the stuff that Ice Cube did with Da Bomb Squad like AmeriKKKa's Most Wanted & Death Certificate.
