"It's Like I'm Drowning In A Sea of Mediocrity." - A Rebel Without A Pause
Jimmy Church has a following on the internet, and live that would be hard to shake a fist at. Although his 'household' fame is relatively small, the punk innovator's debut in 2011 led to him gaining a foothold in the MidWest punk scene, a foothold big enough that he has become known as 'Punk's Messiah'.
Church is known amongst punk circles for being skeptical of the media and highly antagonistic of the more sensationalist aspects of said industry, so for the first time Church conducted an interview with Floyd Holm, widely known writer for 'I Will Be Your Mirror'. During the interview, Church proceeded to blast several of rock (and pop) heavy-hitters, citing them as being part of the reason for a noted drop off in quality with music.
"You could blame the listeners, you could blame the consumers but that would get you nowhere. If you're fed shit day-in, day-out then what are you going to expect for the future? Not the creme de-la creme, I'll tell you that much. You've got these radio hits like
Isabel, Vanity and people just not even innovating on the scenes anymore. It's like a creative stand-still." Church stated. "Then you've got sacred cows like
Blood of Wecz and
Infinite. Listen, it's fucking great that you innovated that one time, back in 2009, but now you've got a bunch of old guys hanging around and producing shit they've got no business working with. Oh, and
Mind can go off himself. [It's] like I'm drowning in a sea of mediocrity, and hell, I wish I wasn't."
