Single Alert Track: Pocket Rocket Artist: Cassie Summers Genre: Pop-punk Length: 3:04 Written by: Cassie Summers Lyrics by: Cassie Summers Cassie SaysFirst of all, let me take the chance to thank anyone who is listening to this. We have had a hella long battle to get to this stage of my career right? Well here it is. My first ever solo single. I hope it comes across well. I'm just so happy, and thank you a million times if you are listening to it. Thank you so much. After three failed attempts at being in a band, I feel totally at ease now doing my own thing, and I'm glad to finally have had the chance to make that discovery. I am so pleased to have recorded this and now just have the chance to have you guys listen and give me your opinion. Oh, and please be honest. The song itself, lyrically, is weird yeah. But for the sound first; it's a pretty obvious pop-punk effort from me. There's no fancy arsey guitar bits, and no airs and graces. I'm a pop-punk girl, and I'm extremely in my comfort song with this song. It may have just a few chords and a simplistic percussion/rhythm section, but at the end of the day, is there a problem with doing that at all? I don't think so :) But to the lyrics, I better address them. First of all, I "coined" the phase "Pocket Rocket" to describe myself as like a feisty, bouncy lil thing who could explode at any moment. It wasn't until someone told me what one really is...and I thought..."oh dear." So then I had to change the lyrics and make it a much more fun song. This was the result. So yeah, it is laden with innuendo and funny lil sexual plays on words, but hopefully people like that. It's not offensive or explicit in any way, so I'm hoping people can take it in the right spirit. It wasn't intended to shock, it was intended to make you crack a smile, and maybe even laugh. Anyway, this has taken a lot of effort, and I am very proud of it. So please, enjoy :) The Track"Pocket Rocket" is a chirpy, happy pop-punk effort from the mind of the well documented figure that is Cassie Summers. Making her first foray into solo music, Cassie has delivered a gloriously happy summer song to blow away those autumn/fall cobwebs a la Blink 182 circa 1999. The song starts with 4 fast beats on a cymbal and then a quick slide up the neck of a guitar before some cheery happy chords come in alongside a happy sounding slap bassline. As Cassie's vocals come in, the guitar halts and only the bass and drums continue softly in the background throughout the verses. When the choruses kick in, the song is sweetly pop-like, with the guitar sounding happier than a pig in the proverbial, and the drum beat being laden with a sickly sweet amount of cymbals whilst the bass slaps along steadily in the background, a cheery sort of uplifting sound that exists throughout the track. Cassie's voice sounds sweet throughout the track, a far cry from her vicious and angry days with Big Light Show. She really shows what she can do here, hitting some reasonably high notes and managing to sound about as Californian as a pop-punk starlet could hope to from start to finish. The most prominent thought the listener has throughout the track, is that it sounds like Cassie is having fun. She sounds happy and lively and bubbly, and appears to be genuinely enjoying her music...at last. The LyricsTake your hand out your pocket, come here and thrust into mine, You're looking kinda flustered boy, ooh babe I'll make you feel so fine.
Fast, slow, up, down, It's your kinda show, You'll blow right into orbit baaaaby, Feel my vertigo.
Pocket rocket! Are you coming around? P-P-Pocket rocket! Wrapping digits, yeah I'll go to town, Pocket rocket! Crawl from your base to the crown, P-P-P-Pocket rocket! Ooooh baby let me hear that souuuuund....
Quick step, I'm gonna shake it all, Wind swept, you better rise and not fall, My friction drives your mind insane, A twist, a swift high five to your brain.
Swirl, stop, round, down, Quicksharp breaths in your mouth, We're gonna lose control, My palm is spiralling south.
Pocket rocket! Are you coming around? P-P-Pocket rocket! Wrapping digits, yeah I'll go to town, Pocket rocket! Crawl from your base to the crown, P-P-P-Pocket rocket! Ooooh baby let me hear that souuuuund....
5-4-3-2 Are we going on one? This sure ain't cape Kennedy, But the launch will be fun.
I'm your pocket sized Nasa, You'd choose me over fame, Born in to a faster nation, and a girl won your game.
Pocket rocket! Are you coming around? P-P-Pocket rocket! Wrapping digits, yeah I'll go to town, Pocket rocket! Crawl from your base to the crown, P-P-P-Pocket rocket! Ooooh baby let me hear that souuuuund...
So come on gimme my trophy, baby fill up my cup, I'm just your pocket rocket, I'm a mucky lil pup!
Pocket rocket! Are you coming around? P-P-Pocket rocket! Wrapping digits, yeah I'll go to town, Pocket rocket! Crawl from your base to the crown, P-P-P-Pocket rocket! Ooooh baby let me hear that souuuuund... *~*Cass~*~ |
