Aubrey Mikkel - Star Factory Finale(Part One) [featuring Michelle Green] It was the day of the show and everyone throughout the building was scrambling around, preparing for what would be the biggest event of this year, the Star Factory Finale. Everyone would be sitting in the studio audience or just watching from home to see who will be the reining champion of the show. Aubrey sat in her dressing room preparing for the show tonight, though it was hours before the show was to start. She wanted to come in to get one last final rehearsal in since this week she had to perform with the likes of that Casey Johnson girl. Not to mention, she had her own performance to think about plus getting her make-up and hair done as well. She was feeling a lot of stress the past couple of weeks from both her home life and the show. The fact that she was half-way there to being done with the show, made her push on further. That and the fact that she wasn't a quitter and she certainly didn't want to lose in the end to Casey. She knew that she was a million times better than her and tonight she would make the world see why they should pick her as the winner of the competition. Each week she had given her all and if the people didn't see that then she would seriously think that the show was rigged. For her there was no other obvious winner then herself. The other competitors had proven to be, just as she had predicted from the start, dreams. They had made it onto the show, dreaming up big plans to reach their dreams but in the end they didn't measure up. Though she had to give credit to that Casey girl. She had made it this far for whatever reason but tonight Aubrey was going to make sure that her dreams all come crashing down around her. To other people, that would seem like a horrible thing to do, as most people try to buddy up in these types of competitions, but for Aubrey she had no time for making friends. Her dreams were at state and she would do whatever it took to reach them. If that meant playing dirty and being mean to those that stood in her way then so be it. It didn't matter to her how she came off to others, she was just being herself. Having an attitude and being a diva was who she truly was but some of it was partly to blame for her troubled past. They always say that people act a certain way because of their life experiences. This was no different. Aubrey was the way she was for a reason. It was hard to say, however, when it actually started to happen but it's obvious to not say it didn't. Over and over again when she had talks with her father, he reminded her how much she had changed since "it" had happened. Aubrey always dismissed it and shrugged it off, saying that he was just reading into things to much. Though she knew in her heart that he was right, she had changed and maybe not so much for the better. Before things changed, she was a kind, loving person who wore her heart out on her sleeves. She was also a dream chaser and for as long as she could remembered, being a big star one day was all that she ever wanted. From the time she could talk and walk, she discovered that she had a knack for singing. Day after day she sung every where she could, covering songs from a variety of different artists. Her parents, seeing how much it made her happy, encouraged her to keep at it as she continued to grow up. By the time she was eighteen, she had pretty much mastered her voice, causing many to take notice. One day Aubrey happened to be in the park singing to herself when she was approached by a talent scout. The label that he worked at was looking for new talent and after hearing her voice he wanted to introduce her to his boss right away. After auditioning, she was signed immediately and Aubrey was thrilled. Though they weren't a big record label, she didn't care because her dreams were starting to become real. Things were starting to look up for her that she didn't pay attention to how she was started to change and how it was starting to affect those close to her. Once she was signed, the label put a lot of focus on her, getting her ready to put out a single and recording her debut album. They even wanted to change up her style and the way she acted. Young and naive, she fell under their control, letting them turn her into some completely different then who she was. Her family, mostly her mother began to notice and comforted Aubrey about it. Aubrey, mad that she would even say such a thing, lashed out on her, affecting their relationship the longer she continued to be controlled by the label. Her mother, no longer wanting to see her daughter act that way, did what she could to make Aubrey see reasoning and break the contract. Her plans backfired however and only made things worse. What started off as a mother protecting her daughter, turned into something more violent. Resulting in someone losing their life. At that moment, the young Aubrey was frozen in fear as she looked down on her mother who laid at the bottom of the stairs. She hadn't mean to push her mother but she had made her so angry. Clearly everyone would see that it was just an accident as they know she could never do something this horrible. She couldn't help but feel that maybe it wouldn't be all that easy like she thought. She began to panic as she slowly began to realize how her whole life was tumbling down right before her eyes. What happened next seem to play in slow motion as her father walked in to find his wife on the floor at the bottom of the stairs and Aubrey standing at the top, frozen in fear. He quickly kneaded down by his wife's side, calling out to Aubrey asking what happened. Aubrey, still in a daze, didn't answer any of his questions for she felt like it was all a dream. She couldn't have been the one to have done this because she loved her mother. The idea was just crazy and didn't make any sense. As the time passed, Aubrey felt a hand on her shoulder, the hand of a police officer. He stood there with a warm smile on his face, comforting her. She looked away, seeing that she was now outside, unaware to how she had gotten there as she didn't remember a thing. She saw a crowd of people surrounding the area, looking on and gossiping about what happened. Looking around some more, she could also see that her dad was being put into the back of a police car. Aubrey, feigned, ran over to the car, calling after her dad but he just turned his head towards her, not saying a word. The car begin to pull away, leaving her standing there confused. After awhile, she heard a few people talking amongst themselves, saying how her father had been blamed for killing his wife. Aubrey couldn't believe what happened, she knew that he hadn't done it but instead it was her who had. Why would he confess to doing it she thought. A few days later, the answer came when she was taken to visit her father in prison. He looked as he had not gotten any sleep since he was put away. The two talked for awhile before it was time for him to return back to his cell. Her grandmother, who had been sitting by, grabbed her hand and took her home. Once she was back in her room, she thought about what had just taken place. Something that had caught her off guard, her father had revealed that he had taken the fall for because he didn't want her life to end before it even started, proving how much he loved her. At first, Aubrey was grateful but in time her opinions changed. She became lost and blamed herself for what she had done to her parents. Instead of falling into depression, she acted out instead. Going as far as coming home whenever she wanted to, dropping out of school, hanging out with dangerous people and so on. She begin to get so out of control that her label released her from her contract, not liking how irresponsible she had become. Things got even worse from there as eventually her family found out that she was really the one responsible for the death of her mother. After losing everything, she vowed to never love again and even now at the age of twenty-six she still kept that promised. She never let anyone get close to her, no one except her father of course for he was the only one that still loved her. Everyone else had abandoned her at that point but he never once considered the idea. She was very grateful to have him in her life and always made sure to only treat him with the up most love and respect. After all if it weren't for him, her life would have been over years ago and there's no telling what state of mind she would be in. Everyone else however, she treated with disrespect because she saw just how cruel the world could be. To her there was no good left in the world, except her father, yet only cruel people that can't be trusted. Never again would she let her guard down with anyone but instead she would treat them like she had been treated since her life alternating change.
A sudden knock at the door, bought her back to reality. She checked her appearance in the mirror, before getting up to go over to the door. Once she opened it, she saw her father standing there, roses in his hand and a smile on his face. Aubrey smiled, coming in closer to hug him. After a few seconds, she let go and stepped back letting him in. "What are you doing here old man?" she said teasing. A big grin spread across his face as he spoke. "This old man is here to support his daughter on her special day and to bring her flowers." He held the bouquet of roses out to her and Aubrey grabbed them. "Thank you. They look lovely." She walked pasted him, putting the flowers away in a vase, replacing them with the old ones that had been there before the dressing room was hers. "So you ready for tonight? Aubrey turned around, facing him once more, looking into his eyes. He looked handsome as ever but his face had aged a bit, probably due to time and having been in jail for quite some time. "You know me, always ready for anything. I really want to thank you for coming and well just thank you for everything. I really want to repay you for what you did for me though I know it'll never be enough." He stepped closer, smiling. "You can repay me by wining this competition. All I want is to see your dreams come true." He came in to hug her once more and kiss her on the forehead. "You can count on it." He smiled before walking out of the room, leaving her there with many thoughts rushing through her head. She had meant what she said and if winning the competition was how she could repay him then so be it. Tonight she would give it everything she had to make sure she kept her promise to him. Another knock at the door interrupted her thoughts. She got pulled herself together before calling for whoever it was to come in. The door opened seconds later, revealing her make up and hair stylists. She looked up at the clock that was up on the wall, seeing that it was close to the show starting. "Good. You're here. Lets get to work. I want everything to be flawless tonight so don't screw up." The two women nodded and came in, getting into their usual routines they did each week. About an hour later, Aubrey was now prepared for tonight's show and just in time as it was a few minutes away from her going on next to perform. She quickly gathered the things she needed then made her way out of the dressing room towards the stage. As she got closer, she could see her band there waiting for her along with her mentor, Michelle Green. Earlier that week, they were told that they had to do a performance with their mentor and Aubrey being Aubrey was not thrilled about the idea. She didn't like sharing her spotlight with others and so this would prove to be challenging for herself. They had spent the past week in rehearsals and at first everything seemed to be not working out at first. She eventually, however, thought up a solution that made her happy and wouldn't jeopardize her chances of winning. Now as she walked up on everyone, she motioned for their attention, getting them all to gather around. As they did, she began to speak. "Alright people. We've practiced hard all night and tonight isn't the night to blow it. So get out there and don't let me down or you'll regret it. I promise you that." Aubrey walked off, leaving them behind to marinate on what she just said. Aubrey took her place on stage. She could hear that it was almost time for the host to announce her name. Seconds later her band and Michelle Green joined her on stage, getting into their positions as well. She had made Michelle apart of her back up singers as she didn't want her in her spotlight. Tonight everything had to be about her well everything except the performance she had to do with Casey but she would worry about that later. For now, it was time for her to work her magic and show everyone for the very last time why she deserved to win. Once the announcer said her name, the lights dimmed down and the curtain begins to rise. The audience breaks out in cheer, screaming and chanting Aubrey's name. Moments later, a spotlight shines down on the stage, revealing Aubrey standing behind a microphone stand. She is wearing a long black strapless dress with her hair pulled back in a ponytail. Behind her, one of her band mates is sat at a black Yamaha piano, another is on a guitar and her back up singers, including Michelle, are off to the side. Her band begins to play the beat to Amy Winehouse's "Wake Up Alone." Aubrey stands there with her arms down to her side as she begins adlibbing a little while the music is playing. Her back up singers stand there smiling and looking out to the audience. Awhile later, Aubrey begins singing the first verse in that soulful unique voice of hers, motioning with her arms as she does.
It's okay in the day I'm staying busy Tied up enough so I don't have to wonder where is he Got so sick of crying So just lately When I catch myself I do a 180 I stay up clean the house At least I'm not drinking Run around just so I don't have to think about thinking That silent sense of content That everyone gets Just disappears soon as the sun sets
The song comes around to the chorus and Aubrey begins singing it. Her back up singers provide their vocals as well throughout the song with Michelle ablibbing over the others. The audience, loving Aubrey's cover of the song, take out their cell phones, holding them up in the air as they sing along with them. Though she doesn't let it show, Aubrey is delighted that they are taking a liking to her version of Amy Winehouse's song. She knew that it would be a big risk to do a song like this but she wanted to show that she could sing a variety of different types of music. Her mind came to ease, however, once realizing her choice seemed to have been for the best as the audience continued to show their love for it.
This face in my dreams seizes my guts He floods me with dread Soaked in soul He swims in my eyes by the bed Pour myself over him Moon spilling in And I wake up alone
Aubrey continues motioning with her hands, going as far as clenching her fist while she sings the second verse to the song. She closes her eyes and takes each and every note a little higher, in an attempt to remind the people, who are watching both from the audience and at home, of her skills and win them over one last and final time.
If I was my heart I'd rather be restless The second I stop the sleep catches up and I'm breathless This ache in my chest As my day is done now The dark covers me and I cannot run now My blood running cold I stand before him It's all I can do to assure him When he comes to me I drip for him tonight Drowning in me we bathe under blue light
The song goes back to the final chorus and Aubrey begins singing in unison with her back up singers. She steps away from the microphone stand, taking the microphone off and walking over towards a few fans, that are located closer to the stage, grabbing some of their hands as she continues singing. Before the song is almost over, she goes back to stand in front of the microphone standing, hitting the last note and adding a few notes of her own. Once the song is through, she stands there, grasping the microphone with both of her hands around it and looking out at the audience, as they are standing on their feet, clapping and applauding for the amazing performance she had just gave. She could see her father sitting out in the audience, smiling and applauding for her too. Aubrey manages to smile a little before she exits off the stage, headed back to her dressing room to prepare for her last performance.
His face in my dreams seizes my guts He floods me with dread Soaked in soul He swims in my eyes by the bed Pour myself over him Moon spilling in And I wake up alone And I wake up alone And I wake up alone And I wake up alone Song Performed:
