After releasing a double album of covers that was critically panned, followed by the hospitalization of Tim Dunn, Axiom has returned to the spotlight. Their new single The Auto Effect has received near universal praise from critics. The single was written by Dunn and features heavy use of the auto-tune effect. Beyond just using it on vocals it is used on instruments as well. Dunn said the song is a satiric jab at pop music.

"You turn on the radio to any pop station and there are two things you will notice. First they play a rotation of like 10 to 15 songs total on loop. Every hour you will hear the same songs over and over. Second, every song uses auto-tune like its the only thing in the studio," said Dunn

Mike Peck said that the song was fun to record and produced some entertaining and odd sounds.

"Auto-tuning drums produces a really weird effect. Its pretty cool actually," said Peck.

The b-sides are two remixes of the single, one by Dunn and one by Peck.

The Critics

"The layers of complex arrangements over the dance pop and disco inspired beats makes this more than a jab at pop music, it makes it a great pop song." -Rolling Stone

"Both of these guys know their way around the studio. The remixes are fantastic (and sometimes better) takes on the original track." -New York Times

"If I was a pop artist I would be breathing a sigh of relief that these guys aren't trying to break into pop music." -NME

"Axiom brings an ear for melody and the mindset of composers to pop music." -The Washington Post
