"Behind Everything" is the first mixtape released by rapper Rani Shreela. The mixtape is a collection of beats, where Rani just freestyles on them. Rani has announced several times that she's working on a mixtape on her twitter account, even before she released her debut single with Aliya Rose. At one point she said, that she hopes that she will get the right attention with the mixtape to find a suitable label for herself. The mixtape has several topics, with each song discussing a different topic. "She" is about rape and the victim. "Broken" is about her anxiety. "Mine" is about Rani saying to a girl named Lani, that the boy is hers. "Bad Bitch" is about her telling the world that she's the queen and that she's ruling the town. "Desert" is about finding a home and being alone. And at the end, "Samurai" is about a myth.

"She"

"She" is the opening track on the mixtape, Behind Everything. Lyrically, the song is about a 17 year old girl who walks home at night after work. When she was about to come home, a man comes up out of nowhere and holds her. She's fighting against it but gets raped and tossed away on the streets. Crying and bleeding, she goes home and gets welcomed by a sick mother, who's laying in bed. A week later, a video blows up in the internet, the whole rape scene got filmed. The victim, the one who got raped, get's called slut, whore and other terrible things.

Yeah, Yeah, Yeah

What did she do wrong?
She was just walking down this empty street
praying for her mommas health
Boy, was she happy to be with her mommy
Only 17 and looking after her
Taking care of her, working at night
Where was her youth, where was her heart
Yet, she fought and prayed
She never tought that it would end like this
That somebody she never knew, could take all of it
She's walking and walking, almost home
But then, out of nowwhere
A man, she doesn't know, he came to take her
She biting, she's scratching, but his grip hard as steel
It takes hours, blood everywhere, she's crying and feeling empty
she wants her momma, she wants to be home

Hours later, she's home, her mommy sick and laying in bed
Waiting for her daughter to come home, her heart aching with worry
She sees her baby, but something's wrong
Fake smile, red eyes, where's my daughter? Where's my baby?
A week later, the internets biggest news, the slut with a men, taking her innocence
Feeling worthless, what did she do wrong?
Was it her fault? Was it her wish?
What's wrong with society, making the victim a criminal
Scared for life, when will it stop
She needs help, she needs love
It's the end of the beginning, society cruel and spinning

"Broken"

"Broken" is the second track on the mixtape, Behind Everything. It's about Rani's anxities and scares. It's about her worries, asking herself why she's alone in the dark corner. Why her broken soul won't get fixed. She's also admitting that she used drugs, hates herself and already thought about suicide. She's asking for somebodies help, she's saying that a broken soul can't be fixed alone but with somebody who helps her, nothing is impossible. The beat has a old school, emotional sad vibe.

Why, Why am I the scared one
Why am I hiding in the corner
Surrounded by darkness, the scars never left me
Time heals wounds, but a broken soul can't be completly fixed
The damage can't be undone
The anxiety, the anger, the emptiness, everything's in my head
Why are the best ones with the worst scars
Why are we fighting, why are we crying
I thought it would end like this, I thought it would be like this
Now I'm alone in the corner, praying to god
Beautiful people around, but my eyes won't see them
Don't look down on me, I don't need your pity
Be there for me, don't be like me

Yeah, I've been trying several things
I've been popping the pills, drug abuse, self-hate
I know it's not easy, It never was
I wish I could do something differently, but things can't be undone
I'm learning my lessons, I want to live
I want to survive, I want to be happy
I know I'm doing things wrong, so why can't I stop?
Why ain't nobody helping me?
Why do I feel so alone?
The evil ones in my head, they've been whispering things to me
They told me how to live, how to hate myself
I know it's wrong, I know I should change, but I never could
How am I supposed to do this alone, How am I supposed to fix a broken soul?
It can't be done, atleast not alone, so why won't you stay here with me?
Why won't you help me fix the issue, the one with the broken soul

"Mine"

"Mine" is the third track on the mixtape, and is compared to the 2 songs before, completly different. It's not about issues or sad moments in life, it's about a boy. Lyrically, she's telling to a girl named 'Lani' that the boy is hers. Rani is telling her to back-off and that she's not even in her league. She's also saying that she's the queen and that she's the boy's master, saying that he is her property. The beat is heavily inspired by her indian roots. Rani starts rapping after the first 35 seconds.

They call me Rani, you hear me lani?
I'm the one he wants, I'm the one who knows
You gotta respect that bitch, take a step back
Don't put fire on oil, cause you gonna burn
You know what, I'm the one who says what's up
You know what, I know what I'm doing, yup!

I drop it, drop it, I'm the queen
I gotta do, what I gotta do
Take 2 steps back bitch, don't come too close
I'm the fire, you're the light
Girl, close your eyes
I drop it, drop it, I'm the queen
I gotta do, what I gotta do

Lady, shut up.
I'm no magician, I see no competition
You gotta know, I have a mission
Take his heart, make a fission
I rule him, I use him
I put him on the desk, he's my property
Cause I won on the lottery
Girl, what's up? Shut up
Keep on talking, Ain't no way you gotta change that
He my bitch, he's mine
Take your hands off, that's my line
Cause I'm his master, I'm his queen, I'm the one who gotta shine

I drop it, drop it, I'm the queen
I gotta do, what I gotta do
Take 2 steps back bitch, don't come too close
I'm the fire, you're the light
Girl, close your eyes
I drop it, drop it, I'm the queen
I gotta do, what I gotta do

"Bad Bitch"

"Bad Bitch" is the fourth song on the mixtape and is about herself, telling somebody that she's the bad bitch who's owning everything. The production is once again heavily inspired by her indian roots and has several breaks in the song, with a singing 'chipmunk' voice. Rani starts to rap after the first 35 seconds.

Heh, I'm the bad bitch who knows what she doing
I'm the bad bitch, who rules this town
I'm the bad bitch, who has a fucking crown
I'm a bad bitch, I'm the bad bitch
I go beast mode, G mode, I'm a bad girl, I'm a bad lady, I'm a bad bitch, I'm a bad bitch
I write sick stuff, I'm spitting fire, I gotta go higher

Hey, Hey, Hey, Hey, Hey
Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah
Hey, Hey, Hey, Hey, Hey, Hey
Oh, Oh, Oh
Bad, Bad, Bad, Bad, Bad
Oh, Oh, Oh, Oh, Oh, Oh, Oh

Bad Bitch spitting fire, Bad Bitch taking the crown
Bad bitch ruling the town
Don't make me go hard, I don't hold back
Once it starts, there's no crack
Cause I'm the bad bitch, that bad bitch ruling your town
That bad bitch, who's taking your crown
Don't be upset, I don't even sweat
Bitch, you're no threat
I gotchu all wet

Hey, Hey, Hey, Yeah, Yeah

"Desert"

"Desert" is the fifth track on the mixtape, Behind Everything. Lyrically, the song is about Rani trying to find a 'home'/ a place where she belongs in a desert, with nobody around. She's rapping about being lonely, and sad. That she's scared to be lost, and that she's looking for somebody to be with her, because she lost somebody who was with her. At the end, she says that she needs to find that place called home, and that she's almost there, but she's not there. The beat is inspired by the middle east, Rani starts to rap after the first 48 seconds when the loud beat drops.

Hey, Hey
I'm walking down this empty desert, sand-tornados everywhere
Thirsty, fighting to survive, looking for some water
Looking for a place to stay at night, I need home, I'm full of fright
Scared to get lost, scared to get tossed
Who needs me, who wants me
Questions over questions, no answers, no answers
Walk down this place with me, make me all lonely
Give me a proper goodbye, don't leave me saying goodnight
Where's this place called home, I'm lost in the desert
I'm lost, clothes full of dirt
When will I clean up? When will I stop this feeling
There's no chance for healing

What did I do wrong, What did I do right
Wasn't I supposed to do this without fright
I gotta fight, I need to survive
Let's go drive, I need to fly
I gave you a answer, you call me dancer
Where was the lie, where was the bye
You are gone, I'm alone
I'm walking down this desert, You've made me hurt
I gotta find this place called home, that place where I'm supposed to be
I'm right there, almost there
There, almost

"Samurai"

"Samurai" is the last song on Rani's mixtape, Behind Everything. It's about a 100 years old myth, which is about a Samurai who's fighting for his village. It's about the samurai, who's scared of the things he has done. It's about him, who's guilty and sad because he took many lifes for his village, and yet he doesn't stop the kill the enemies, who were the ones who once killed his village. It's a battlefield full of blood and tears, at the end Rani's rapping and saying that we should never forget him. The one who fought against the enemies, who killed his village, and yet felt the pain in his heart.

I'm sitting right here, My hands with fear
fear of the things I've done
My blood mixed with their blood,
Tried to save them from the evil, but I'm wrong
I am gone
We've been the victim far too long,
It's the victims time to shine,
We battle through it all, it's a battlefield
I'm swinging the sword, I'm the samurai
I'm fighting for it all, it should be the end of the beginning
We fight, we cry, we die
The eternal cyle goes on, when will it end
I'm walking through the gate, the cries of innocent people, the blood's scent on my nose
We've done things, we shouldn't have done
Here I come, trying to survive it all

Blood. Blood.

Here they are, fighting with their whole soul. Their blood on my hands, I've done it once again
The clashing of our swords, the rain mixing with the blood, it's a terrible scene
I've done it for my village, I've done it for my people
The cries of innocent people won't stop, what have I done?
Was I in the right? Did I do it right?
It's the last night
With all my strength, I will fight
I try to survive.

For the village, for my people, I will end this right here. can you hear?

It's a legacy, It's a myth
But behind every myth, is a little bit truth
Don't let this die, let it be remembered,
the night where a single samurai, lost his life
Fighting for his village, it was maybe wrong, it was maybe right
But he left his mark, they survived
It was a noble sacrifice
He made the sun shine
Let his legacy live by
Don't let it die down, remember it from now on
The samurai with a heart, sad and in pain
He's done what everyone's done
He was a samurai, samurai

Rum: Rani, none of us know where the fuck you came from. Can I start there? Your presence is like an ambush on the rap scene right now. Out of nowhere you drop a single, out of nowhere, you start dropping some remixes. Now boom, a whole fucking mix tape and a good one at that. These 6 songs were better than pretty much everything from my train wreck of a debut album and I see the kind of future for you that makes me feel like I should establish myself now and cement on my weave while I got the chance!! Bitch! SLAY US!!!
