Mostly just chord progressions, lyrics were all original. |

So mostly what I've come out of FAWM 2011 with is about 20 song ideas, some with lyrics, and nothing recorded due partially to laptop failure, but mostly due to my crippling inability to play anything properly. My lyrical highlight though was a song I called Harangued by the Augurs of Melissopalynological Concerns which I wrote on the Subway between Kinning Park and Partick (hence the second stanza). Quote:Sounds of consumption trickle Down into my sleepy cave From the prying eyes of daylight Take thee brief respite For choirs of worry come Bearing ill tide and plight
Beneath the river now In the belly of a metal worm Ideas turning cartwheels In fruitlessly shifting hues Dividing and colliding And plaguing my sanity |

What an awesome concept! How unfortunate for me to stumble across it in March haha!
While I browsed through this topic, you nearly lost me to the sinful confines of fawm.com, but I managed to pry myself away and am now safely back here :)
I would totally end up stealing stuff I've written over the years - 14 completely original compositions in 28 days! My creativity would plunge to -30, but it would be a fun effort for sure!

Hey there! You got the songwriting bug? I know I have! (Really, I have. I'm trying not to write songs, but keep getting ideas.) http://fiftyninety.fawmers.org/50/90. Similar to FAWM, but needs more stamina to keep going. Starts July 4th, signups are open! |

I am going to try this one, and try and take a different approach than I do FAWM (ie. don't write lyrics instead of songs). I'm getting myself a new guitar, after my shitty cobbled-together old one cut my hand open, so hopefully that'll help. I think instead of trying to write new songs, I'll try my hardest to finish and record existing song ideas, of which I have let's see now... at least 4 albums (Blacker Than the Sun is Bright, Dead Leaves Over Pylon Field, Homophonies, Infinity Scissor) and 6 EPs (Hymenoptera, Hypercuboid, Hyperboloid, Expectorate, Ankhuator, Earthmover) trapped in my mind or in text documents and fragments of audio. |

Mmm, got a bassline already. Sure it's about four notes, but it's a bassline. |

First song lyric written (it's rather mediocre, but meh). Hope in hell that my chestpiece still works, otherwise it's all lyrics for me. |

Still waiting for last bits of cabling to get recording done, though I signed up for 50/90 relatively spur-of-the-moment the other day. It's encouraged me to actually finish two things I've been putting off for a while so far. Working on song #3 right now which is a slow process as I've already hit a block wall hahah. |

Whoa fast, just finished my first one an hour or so ago. More pleased than I thought I'd be with the output. |

I did this with Bikz, and a few others in February 2010 and while fun, I can't write songs under that amount of pressure. so this is not for me, but it is a great place to meet songwriters and look at some cool lyrics. People really get creative on that site. It's pretty amazing. I still visit to read some things here and there.

@Matt - you can join and write songs as lyrics-only. (: @Daniel - yes, it's an amazing site, I love it.
BTW, to anyone doing it, what are your usernames on the site, so I can stalk watchlist you? Mine is the rather unimaginative "bikz". |

gildermershina, unsurprisingly. I stuck up some lyrics I wrote today. Will try and do some actual music, especially now that my job is pretty much over. |

You're on my watchlist already Bik! :) My username is iamlewismason as per most sites I use.
To be fair, the two I completed were already birthed as ideas a little while before I started, but this is giving me major motivation to finish things. I'm usually good for writing bits of things then just leaving them, but this is bringing my prolific nature back which I feel I'll need. |

#3 needs a bit of tweaking still before I upload, already half done on a new one from scratch called Where I Draw The Line. I suppose I'm a little thankful to have a lot going on in my life right now, it's doing a wonderful job of getting me back into this. |

Finally got myself some fawmers.org file hosting (and awesome rock hands) and uploaded the demo. I am SO proud of this song, I think it's my best work to date. "Suburban Sunrise" - http://fiftyninety.fawmers.org/songs/6746 |

New guitar arrived, re-strung it and tuned it down to Drop B, as is my wont, and I'm ready to go (well almost, the low B is a little flabby at .60, might have to get me a .68 for that string). Now I just need to come up with some actual riffs. Also, guitar tones that aren't just horrible washes of noise. |
