Hey everyone! This is the first ever update from this website so I guess I should make it worth reading. We are Big Light Show, a group of friends with a passion for writing pop punk music with influences from many different artists and genres. You may or may not have heard of two of our members, Alex and Anthony, Alex of Lights Go Red and We Shot The Stars, and Anthony of We Shot The Stars. Although we only formed in January 2011, the time we have spent together has helped us build a selection of songs that we will be choosing between when we start work on our debut album, which we hope to do soon.

I guess over the next few weeks we'll be writing some new music, maybe play a few random shows just to get some sort of reaction towards our live performance ideas, but this will be after we release our debut single on Friday 4th March! Sorry that we didn't leave it longer to release, but we are so exicted about this new band and the songs we have recorded that we just can't wait to show everyone what we've made. We might be playing on a tour over the summer as well, but we don't know for sure as we are still in talks with the headlining act to if we are suitable. If you want to see us live we'll be sure to play a few low-key shows in England and then maybe Europe and America depending on how things go.

Anyways, that's all for now folks!

1) I Found Out (Finding Out Is The Best Part);
A brief backing high sounding keyboard loop is used in the introduction to the song before Lauren’s vocals start and the other instruments begin to play in the background with the backing keyboard loop getting more powerful as Alex’s vocals begin. The keyboard loop then stops as the guitars, bass and drums all play catchy pop punk music, with the vocals in the song being split equally between Lauren and Alex making it sound like they are arguing. The chorus of the song is highly catchy. “I found out,that finding out is the best part. If you don’t believe, look at me. And I found out, that I really really hate you”, in the slight breakdown of the song, the keyboard loop re-enters, in the background, and the instruments continue in the same fashion as the introduction of the song, before the chorus is repeated and then the song finishes with vocals from both Alex and Lauren of “I really really hate you” being held as the music finishes. Lyrically the song is about Alex’s discovery of his girlfriend cheating on him, and realising how much he dislikes her for it.

2) What’s The Problem Officer?;
A repeated keyboard effect is used during the opening of the song alongside Alex’s vocals. After the first line of sung vocals the keyboard effect goes and is replaced by a simplistic pop-punk guitar, bass and drum set-up, with the vocals being provided by Alex throughout the verses of the song, and by Lauren in the chorus. Towards the end of the song there the instruments and vocals sound as if they are coming from a radio, and sound highly distorted with the chants of “What’s the problem officer?” being heard during this as well, before the same music structure finishes the song with applause and random parts of conversation being heard. Lyrically the song is about enjoying life without having to worry about the police messing with you.

3) Girls On The Dance Floor(Far East Movement Cover);
Choosing to cover a lesser known song from the group responsible for Like A G6. The distortion/auto-tuning of the beginning of the song is kept, along with the beat of the song. No instruments are used other than the basic beat and the simplistic drum beat until the chorus of the song in which the pop-punk cover starts to show, with the electronic beat being replaced by a guitar riff sounding similar, along with a slight change to the basic drum beat. This only occurs during the chorus, and the breakdown of the song, with the rest of the song saying the same as in the original. The vocals are mainly provided by Alex, although during the chorus and in parts of the verses, Lauren provides vocals.

Hey guys! We've been conformed as one of the support acts for The Verdict Is Vengeance's Idols & Anchors Tour across the USA this summer alongside Suburban Sunrise and Liars & Theives, as well as playing Kick Off Festival with Infinite, The Jason Smith Band, MattY and many more on April 1st and April 2nd at The Merriweather Post Pavillion, in Columbia, MD, USA. Get tickets for all these shows and come see us!

We've been working on material for our next single, which will most likely be the leading single for our debut album which is also being written. We're using a variety of different bands for our influences whilst writting our new tracks which will be performed live for the first time ever at Kick Off Festival, so anyone there will be getting a tease at some new songs and ideas we've been bouncing around.

The album is going to be titled Thunder Clouds, and has been produced by Robert Williams of The Verdict Is Vengeance as well as Alex (Leuiso). We've done so much, so it's likely that we'll have it released midway through May!

1) Conversation & Cheap Liquor Got Me Here
An aggressive guitar opens the song, before the other instruments quickly add to the song with crashing symbols from the drums and the rhythm guitar changing into a higher sounding tone, more traditional alternative rock sound. After 20 seconds the vocals from Alex start, as the song follows the same structure. During the chorus, the guitars sound more typical pop-punky, with little distortion used, before the follow the format of the introduction throughout the rest of the song. Lauren all vocals in the chorus, and during the dip in the song in which the guitars play held out notes of the introduction riff before the lead guitar goes into a brief (not very complex) guitar solo, and the chorus is repeated before the song finishes with feedback from the guitars. The lyrics of this song focus on the party lifestyle, along with regrets because of the lifestyle and what it eventually causes someone to end up like.

2) Conversation & Cheap Liquor Got Me Here (Marksii Remix)
Marksii removes the guitar riffs and vocals from the original introduction to the song with a slow, but building electronic beat, and replaces the drums with a slow and simplistic beat. As the song progresses the vocals from Alex are heard (distorted however to give them a distanced effect), before the heavy electronic beat has built to such an extent that there is a huge re-verb and a dubstep drop that lasts for the remanded of the song. During the drop the original guitar parts of the song are heard, as well as the vocals at different intervals. As the song progresses, there is another slow build up, but this time the vocals from the chorus are heard, gradually being replaced by the deep electronic beat that then forms a second dubstep drop, lasting ‘till the outro of the song which just fades the song out.

3) Untitled Demo #1
This untitled demo is one of the songs produced for the album that was never titled or needed. The vocals have not been added so the song is just a gradual build up of upbeat held out pop-punk guitar riffs, simple drum beats, and a heavy bass line, along with an upbeat keyboard/synth loop playing throughout (increasing during the chorus) there is a slight breakdown, in which the instruments all make a higher attempt at a chugging breakdown sound, before it finishes. The band have mentioned that this still could become a full song in the future.

Hey everyone, we're posting this update from San Diego, California in which our first live show ever will be performed supporting Suburban Sunrise! It's almost a dream come true for me, added with the album almost being finished, and having a single up for voting in the Top 20 charts! (vote for it 'cause you know you love us; it's called Conversation & Cheap Liquor Got Me Here). So yeah, erm... we've got the setlist sorted, it's only five songs, but they're new songs that you'll hopefully love. Plus there'll be a few songs from the album that you haven't heard yet, so it's kinda like an preview for those who turn up early as we are opening and will be playing first.

Anyways, I'm going to get some much needed beauty sleep, then wake up and get ready for the show. So exicited! Hope to see some of you over the next 8 days!

Lots of stuff has been happening over the past month. We've decided against releasing Thunder Clouds, as half the songs were rushed, and we feel as if it would lower the quality in which we want our first release to sound like. That in mind, we've taken our favourite songs from the mix as well as a few others, and are currently in the process in re-recording a few of the songs before we release it for everyone. The tracklist will be at the bottom of this post. Conversation & Cheap Liquor Got Me Here will still be classed as the lead single from the EP, we've got another single planned and the rest of the songs are equally as good if not better so hopefully it'll be worth the wait.

Sorry again for all the delays, we'll make it up to you soon!
- Alex

Delayed At The Finish Line EP
1) Conversation & Cheap Liquor Got Me Here
2) Be(lie)ve
3) Thorns
4) Don't Make A Sound
5) A Song For Those Who Have Experienced Heartbreak
6) I Found Out (Finding Out Is The Best Part) [EP Version]
7) What’s The Problem Officer? [EP Version]

We've been working pretty much non-stop over the weekend to get the tracks for the EP sorted out, as well as artwork and what not, and it's been worth it so far. We've almost finished the re-recordings and will have the artwork completed by the end of this week hopefully. We're so gutted that we didn't win 'Best Newcomer' at the Chaos Awards II, but we didn't expect to and it was nice just to be noticed!

Anyways, the second and final single from the EP is going to be the low song from the EP, A Song For Those Who Have Experienced Heartbreak, and will be released June 10th on iTunes, then via our website one June 11th. It's possibly the most personal song to me, and I hope you all enjoy it. The EP itself will be up on iTunes on 18th June, and a limited sample of 100 copies will be signed and sold directly from our website! We'll also be leaving for the Idols & Anchors Tour in which we'll be supporting The Verdict Is Vengeance alongside our friends in Suburban Sunrise, and Liars And Thieves. We'll be playing in the UK some time soon, you've just got to wait a little while guys! Sorry.
