"WITHERING LOVE" LEAKSDays before the official album release, one song from the album titled "
Withering Love" has leaked onto the net. The leak shows the song to be an atmospheric, upbeat trance-influenced track that builds gradually as the song goes on, until everything drops out at the end as Glamazon emotionally speaks the last verse. The songs lyrics deal with a heartbroken woman who was left at the altar on her wedding day, never to see her husband-to-be again, and so her life stands still as she hopelessly waits for his return. The song is inspired by a poem titled "
Havisham" by Carol Ann Duffy, and samples verses from the poem in the song.
* verses in italic are taken from the poemBeloved sweetheart bastard. Not a day since then
I haven’t wished him dead. Prayed for it
so hard I’ve dark green pebbles for eyes,
ropes on the back of my hands I could strangle with. For years I longed for the moment that you killed
Would have been happily ever after, a fairytale fulfilled
Turns out you weren't the one to give me my dreams
You built me up and broke me down to new extremes
My heart once reached out for you to take me away
Now I sit here waiting for your return, clutching the rotting bouquet
Temporary love ain't good enough, you weren't as you appeared
You promised me the world and then just disappeared
Now I wait here in hope with my stained wedding dress
Painful silence leaves me with false hope and distress
Celebrate for new found loneliness
Raise a glass for dying happiness
Cheer for futures down the drain
Sing for everlasting pain
My beloved sweetheart bastard who I mourn of
You were the cause of this withering love
You were the ray of light in my darkest hour
Our bond grew stronger like a blossoming flower
But the winter came along and slayed us prematurely
We were made to be together, you said forever, surely
My emotions stay frozen and time seems to stand still
I'm on the edge and only you can save me from going downhill
Temporary love ain't good enough, you weren't as you appeared
You promised me the world and then just disappeared
Now I wait here in hope with my stained wedding dress
Painful silence leaves me with false hope and distress
Celebrate for new found loneliness
Raise a glass for dying happiness
Cheer for futures down the drain
Sing for everlasting pain
My beloved sweetheart bastard who I mourn of
You were the cause of this withering love
Spinster. I stink and remember. Whole days
in bed cawing "Nooooo" at the wall; the dress
yellowing, trembling if I open the wardrobe;
the slewed mirror, full-length, her, myself, who did this to me?
Puce curses that are sounds not words.
Some nights better, the lost body over me,
my fluent tongue in its mouth in its ear
then down till I suddenly bite awake.Temporary love ain't good enough, you weren't as you appeared
You promised me the world and then just disappeared
Now I wait here in hope with my stained wedding dress
Painful silence leaves me with false hope and distress
Celebrate for new found loneliness
Raise a glass for dying happiness
Cheer for futures down the drain
Sing for everlasting pain
My beloved sweetheart bastard who I mourn of
You were the cause of this withering love
Love’s hate behind a white veil; a red balloon bursting
in my face. Bang. I stabbed at a wedding-cake.
Give me a male corpse for a long slow honeymoon.
Don’t think it’s only the heart that b-b-b-breaks.
