Scott Simpson plays the guitar, drums, bass, synth and he produces. Some people think he might be the Jesus of Music(his mom). Now Scott is setting out to break into the frontier of sound, forming his solo project "Cartographer". Dear Music Industry,
It's been a moment since I decided to start this new project. Literally a moment. Anywho, I thought it'd be fun/cool/fucking insane to do a film with each of my albums. I know, that sounds like a hassle, I know that sounds a little expensive but luckily I'm friends with this director kid named J.T. Thirlwell and he said we can do like hour documentaries which is pretty quality.

Rap & Other Media Nonsense as Seen by CartographerDear Music Industry, It seems like there's been a rise in Gangsta Rap music. Normally I'd be embracing of any kind of new styles, gangsta rap or otherwise but these new artists are putting no effort forth whatsoever. I may have to release a diss song in response...I'm hesitant to delve into the world of hardcore gangsta rap but whatever it takes to set the building that those guys are staying in on fire. Next up on the agenda is the Suburban Sunrise v. Shooting Star Records/Mallory Evans beef. I could take Suburban Sunrise's side, but they do release a crappy song every once in a while. I could take Shooting Star Records side but I don't quite agree with their techniques in label running. I'm not the biggest fan(or wasn't) of AATW but that's another blog rant waiting to happen. The thing is, this argument presents the key problem in the music industry ever since records became available. The Recording Companies want to release records to finance their own dreams and ergo power the Recording Artists, but what happens when the Artists disagree with the Companies' methods? That's what's happening here with the Sunrise/Star argument but I don't agree with Sunrise jumping ship and swimming over to Junction Records. Hey, but who should listen to me? Hey-ho musical pals guess what? I've been talking with Nomad Records and they want to pick up CARTOGRAPHER for a two album deal. There a pretty snazz-tastic label so I've been thinking about accepting but more important news?

We finished the mixing and all world, and I'm pleased to announce the 7 Stellar Tracks that'll form our first album. I'm gonna call it GLITTER GLITTER GLITTER I LOVE INDUSTRY! In all seriousness, the name might be something pretty Artsy Fartsy like Mellon Collie(anyone get the reference?) or somethin'. Hell, I don't know yet.
