Formed: 11 June 2008Location: Manchester, England Punk Rock band The Anarchist formed during high school, previously best friends. The boys always wanted to do music, but didn't know how to start. After joking around in music class, they started to actually jam, and they liked what they heard. Chris Patrick came up with the idea of forming a rock band. The guys agreed and started to jam everyday and they began to write songs over the summer. They had a hard time choosing a name, but when Rob Zander (who was an anarchist, and hated the government) proposed the name "The Anarchists" the guys were a bit divided over the name, and were edgy about it. But Joeseph and Chris both caved in and adopted to the name. After a batch of songs written they recorded their first single "Monster" on their MacBook and sold them around Manchester, they even got friends to sell the single. Eventually it sold over 100 thousand copies. They recorded their debut album "Complete Anarchy" again on their MacBook and independently sold the album around the UK and select cities in Europe. The album had a gritty, hard sound, with distorted guitars, and a complete unpolished sound that became the bands sound. To promote the album the band posted flyers around Manchester, recorded a YouTube video that went viral and managed over a million hits, and did a few shows around Europe. The album sold over 500,000 units across Europe, and platinum in the UK, a major feat for a band with no label affiliation. The band grew happy with their success, and began their first major tour, named after the album. The band toured across Europe, to further promote the album. Eventually the single "Can't Resist" got picked up by local radio stations, and managed to further increase the bands fan base. And even giving them a minor hit record that peaked at #79 in the UK. The band then started to write their 2nd album "World War Three: The Fall of Man" and chose to keep their gritty sound for this album, it became a hit with fans, and a sleeping hit. The album was about their dislike for the state of the world, and how we are now fighting with money and power, which will lead to our downfall The album sold over a million copies across Europe, and the US, and breakthrough market for them. The band became a bit dismayed with their fast rise, and felt that maybe the album was a bit mainstream. Nether less, they album continued to sell and brought in new fans. The band took a break to better their music skills and song writing, they began to write twice as many songs for the album. They felt that this album was who they truly were, and name it "Experience Us", the album was critically acclaimed, the album became a major chart success. They released their first single "Planet X" the single managed to peak at #9 in the UK, a new high. They then released the album, which peaked at in the top then in Europe and the UK and top 15 in the US. The band who previously hated the massive success, eventually likened to it, and went on a world tour, in support of the album. They performed on the VMA's and the BRIT Awards that year. The bands rise continued, when a minor stop occurred. In January 2011 Patrick punched a fan, and had a breakdown on stage, after having a few drinks, Patrick was a major alcoholic and issues at home made the problem worse. He later went to rehab, and later joined AA, he is now a major advocate of the program. While in rehab Patrick wrote the song "My Redemption", the song is a very different from the band previous songs, featuring just a guitar with soft vocals. The single was released on 15 April 2011, to radio stations and iTunes worldwide. The single is expected to be a major return for the band. Everyone is on edge to see the rise of this band to major rockers. Guess we will have to see what's coming next.
