John A. Johnson
This festival had been something John had been dreading. He had been touring with The Rockers for a while on their latest album promotional tour and he was worried that going solo tonight would prove to be a let down to everyone. A long list of artists would come before him and his former wife would be playing the other stage at the same moment. The Rockers had been doing well and he had thought he would not need to go out alone again. He only decided to do this so that he could prove to himself he had it in himself. Now that the time had come he had almost regretted that. He doubted weather he did indeed have it somewhere within.
John had watched from behind the curtains all day. He had seen the sheer amazing things that had already occurred on that stage. Every artists, every band, they had all given every ounce of energy they had and put on the shows of their lives. Did he deserve this? Did John Johnson's still deserve to go on as a headliner? Alone?
The night air was cold and the lights went out as a voice called out.
"Ladies and gentlemen, the headliner of the Blue Stage...Johnny Johnson!"
He lifted his head and looked out towards the curtains. It was time...The curtains pulled back revealing one of the largest, wildest crowds he had ever known. Now it was his turn to entertain them all.
Walking to the microphone with only his guitar he held up a hand and waved out to the fans. "How about that guys? Sunrise at Sunset. Give it up for these guys that have went on before me man. They deserve every cheer and clap of the hands you can give them. They have really rocked the house today, but I think I'm going to do something a little different if you dont mind."
He strums his guitar a single time. "This ones called...End of Us...I wrote it about someone special to me...you can guess who."
Long cared for fragility the moment our love failed a broken heart a tragedy and thus our ship had sailed
Passed by without remorse no longer night we'd see flying by on a different course I never thought it'd be me
Its the End of Us the end of us so things come to be together you and me its the end of us
As the song ends Johnny looked out to the crowd. Some claimed to see a tear in his eye later on and they were correct. The song meant as much to him as the person he sang about. Life had changed so much for him since the old times, yet he found it had changed even more since the middle times. He looked up towards the sky above. "These aren't the end times though." he said quietly leaving the crowd to ponder what he meant.
"Lets get it going again with a song I have called, Memories of the Night..."
Its late in the evening but early in the night when one lone man goes out to fight
He holds his sword high and holds his pride low holds on to his mind and hopes it dont go
its early in the evening but late in the day and he he has to find his own damn way
He looks up to the sky holds his hope up their hoping for a sign see how he'll fair
they march at each other now shield and sword raised high most of them will go down memories of the night
This song was different for John. It was about something so far removed from the first one that it almost seemed odd singing it afterwords. The crowd cheered though as he ended it with a final chord. He looked up and smiled. "Lets try a song you guys are familiar with now huh? This is an acoustic version of an old Rockers song." Without announcing the title he begins playing a version of The Way Home. The song was about the band and their lives back in the 80s. It had been released in the early 1990s as a rock ballad and now was being played even further down the road of life in acoustic form. Johnson looked happy at last as he let his rough voice start the verse.
Down the road of life I have walked trying everything I thought was my luck now I know for a fact that there is a going back (guitar) I'm going home.
So it seems I have walked on path with more talk now I know where I stand and I have to be a man (guitar) I'm going home.
So when you are down and you are out keep your head turned up high and forget that old lie (guitar) there is a way home
As the final song of his set came to an end he had a spark in his eye as he stood up with his arms raised up. "You've been great guys. I love you." he bowed and turned away from the stage. As he left he realized how simple it all was. All his worries had been reasonless. This was a show like no other, and like every other. He gave what he had always tried to give and that was himself.
Thus Total Annihilation had ended. A night of power, triumph, and good times. This moment would live on in history as something important. It bonded millions of people and many artists and brought them together as Memories of the Night.
OOC: Thank you all for reading and writing, its been really fun. Hope you all enjoyed it as much as I did. |

He walks up Nicole and gives her a little hug congratulating her on the awesome show. Then he gets a text from Joe about kicking some acoustic jams outside in the parking lot next to the tour bus for the fans that couldn't get in. He grinned at the text and then leaned forward to give her a little kiss on the cheek. Johnny: Catch ya later.
Johnny then took off away from the stage and made his way into the parking lot. There was already a small circle of fans outside the bus as he got on to get his acoustic then walked back off the bus. He sat down in the other chair next to Joe and they started to play together. It was a cover of Cee-Lo Green's "Fuck You" that went into "Crazy" by Gnarls Barkley and then began to transition into "Hey Ya." Johnny and Joe just got down as they had a crowd around glad to keep entertaining even though they weren't on stage any more. They were one of those musician's highs where they just wanted to keep playing for the enjoyment of it. Johnny tapped his foot, wiggled in his chair, and nodded his head while singing. Just having fun. |
