Monk On Fire Music was originally started by Daniel Antherstein; a music reviewer and of course a music fan.  But he needed someone to help him in his venture into the music industry, so he advertised and along came young rapper MattY who helped to supply some money to help build the label up.  Four Months down the line, MOFM are seen as a respected label in the industry already having several number one hits from their artists. MOFM has also recently announced that it has built it's own studio: Red Hot Recordings, which was unfortunately burned down on the 23rd of July 2011.

HUGE SIGNING!!

UserPostedImage

Today, Monk On Fire Music has signed one of the world's largest superstars! Brittany Knox has agreed a two album and unlimited singles deal with us! We also decided that we would throw in a pretty handsome world tour on the deal too! So you can be expecting to see some prett major things coming from us and, of course, the amazing Brit Knox!

Blessed with looks, dance moves and a physic that other woman would care for the 23 year old athlete and now songstress may be ready to take the world by storm. Working day by day even before music has come about Brittany has also been the perfectionist that she proclaims herself to be. "I wanna do the best that I can in all that I do, whether it be modeling, wrestling, dancing or even singing, I must do my thing and impress myself as well as others doing it. Some may question, a wrestler?! Yes, Brittany Knoxville played a wrestler for a federation called R.o.B, she even went on to win there Pure Wrestling championship belt becoming the second ever champion at just 22 years old! After a while however, wrestling became stale and the grueling schedule as well as the nagging feeling she kept getting in her heart because she knew there was something else she wanted to do deeply. Almost a year and a half since entering wrestling, she hung up her boots and went on to purse something that she knew she loved since age 10, and that was singing. "I realized I was old enough to go on, and do what I wanted. I grew up in a house full of men. It was just my mother and I with 3 other men, plus my uncle who was homeless. Of course they wouldn't support my dream to becoming a singer but wrestler? Of course! Wrestling wasn't for me, plain and simple". But in the ending of 2009, Brittany started a new chapter in her life. She began contacting dance trainers, vocal coaches, a publicist as well as other people who can play as her gits and gadgets as she breaks into the industry. Brittany's schedule included a strict diet (even though shes about 120 pounds), intense dance and vocal lessons (she already has an amazing voice but she wants to be BETTER). As the middle of September came, Brit already had music recorded in hopes of releasing it once she got signed to a label so she wouldn't keep her fans waiting. That big break came in late July of 2010......

GEARS OF BREMEN - DAYTROTTER SESSION
Download for FREE!!!?!!?!!?!
UserPostedImage

1.)Welcome to Daytrotter
2.)Heresy
3.)God Loves These Lands
4.)Call Back The Past

Overview: Daytrotter Sessions are acoustic recording sessions that utilize acoustic musicians and no editing. Gears of Bremen is the latest band.

Heresy:

Overview:
Alright if God Bless These Lands works as an anthem, Heresy is the deconstruction of that. After Dorothy left Oz there was a revolution and the Wizard was overthrown, with the Wizard gone though the other lands in the world decided to advance on Oz. This entails the story of the war between the lands of Oz and Iz. The song is without vocals.

Sound:
Now since there's no vocals, the song is heavy on guitar tracks. It features a back and forth between the two guitarists(Marsh and Finch) each representing the Lands of Oz and Iz respectively. Until finally Finch's guitar solo begins and shows the victory of Iz over Oz. The drums and bass are mere undertones in this guitar-driven track without vocals.

God Loves These Lands

Overview:
So this really sets the tone for the setting. Its been about 70 years since Dorothy left the land of OZ and boy have things changed. This new anthem really showcases that and it's really more of an Experimental Song.
-Renee Belamont

Sound:
The song starts off with some light keyboard stretches and as it goes on drumming comes in. The drumming isn't like a usual modern song but more like a slow, building up military like beat. Besides that the song features Winston and Gary singing the Anthem. Towards the end the song is lost in a sort of static.

Lyrics:

Oh God Bless This Land
For Your Bells Toll Over Each Head
Oh Bless Your Swiftly Moving Hands
Carefully Guiding Our Dead

Oh God Bless This Land
Find Time To Look Down On Us
Lead Us With Your Righteous Plan
From Munchkin Country
To Gillkin Country
To Quadling Country
To Winkie Country

Oh Find The Time To Watch Over Us
To Guide Us
To The Promised Land
Let Us Live In Peace
Let Us Live In Peace

(static)
And Arrive In Th- Emera-

Call Back the Past [6:38]

Overview: The debut song, the intro to our whole album. After brainstorming for several days about what the intro should be...we decided to make a melodic metal type of song. So while we were in the studio, the lyrics came first and we did a few initial takes we liked before finally we worked out the story and concept for the album. See, the screaming vocals(italics) are the back of a man's mind seeping out. The clean vocals are that of the man's therapist trying to assist him. The broken man whose mind finally caves at the end is Marquis de Sade's Grandson Graham and he has cracked past the breaking point.

Sound: The song begins with silence before a small ping begins, followed by applause, then a door being slammed shut then finally an alarm clock ringing. There's a two minute loop of all these things, the volume with the sounds being as quiet as a whisper before they rumble to stereo breaking levels. Suddenly a low frantic bassline begins with Winston's guitar tracks, thunderous and rather high as the lyrics begin. With the screams comes an equally as frantic drumline that utilizes the snare drum for a heavy backbeat pattern.

Lyrics:
I just want to go
I'm burning up right now
Burning up right now

So extinguish the fires!
Hold down the fort
With your everlasting desires
Giving up is the last resort
Don't hold me
I'm alone
For eternity

Lose yourself in the music
In the song of those who've left us
Lose yourself in the sonnet of the lost
Rip out the pages
Of the book never written
Call back the past
For things never said

Move on girl
This city eats people alive
Take me for one last whirl
While death arrives
Hold me tight
For the wind falls around me
Look past my exterior
For the look in my eyes

HOLD BACK THE DAWN
HOLD BACK THE DAWN
HOLD IT BACK
BACK BACK BACK

PostScript's New Single - Monster

UserPostedImage

Monster
A club like electronic beat alongside a fast use of snare and bass drum is used to open the song, before changing to more of a bass beat during the verses of the song. The club beat and bass beat are mixed together during the chorus of the song, at the end of the song there is a heavy use of bass guitar and the slight use of electric guitar, replacing the bass beat from a synthesizer. All of this mixed together gives the song a mix of a club anthem and an “indie” alternative rock song. The vocals of the song are all sung vocals, with a clean tone, and all are provided by Postscript.

Monster (Postscript's Dubstep Remix)
Postscript’s own remix of the song Monster removes the alternative rock edge of the song, and adds more bass throughout the song creating a powerful dubstep sound. The vocals have also been removed and only the main elements of each verse and the chorus are kept to give a greater feel before the “wobbb” of the dubstep drop.

Next Hype (Chase & Status featuring Tempa T cover)
Postscript’s attempt of covering the aggressive nature of Tempa T’s vocals can be seen as comical before listening, but Postscript’s fast vocals rather than aggressive along with the repeated simplistic guitar and fast drum beats and whirling electronic loops the song sounds better than the original.

MTV UK interview with PostScript
UserPostedImage

Postscript has only recently broke through the barrier separating the underground artists with the mainstream music scene, and barely anyone would have known his name this time last year. Now however, he says with confidence that “I’ll be the person who will change peoples views on the popular music scene”, why has he only recently gained fame? Because he was signed to grime artists record label Monk on Fire Music back in January 2011. We’re here to find out how his life has changed since being signed as well as a variety of other questions.

MTVUK: So, what’s it like to be signed to Monk on Fire Music?

Postscript: It’s better than not being signed *laughs* no, being serious it’s brilliant. MattY is a nice guy, and the label has supported me since I’ve been signed and just helped with everything that I’ve needed.

MTVUK: Would you say that your life has changed dramatically since being signed?

Postscript: Well I’ve been focusing on my music a lot more as I’ve got contracts and what not, but other than that not really. I’m not exactly a huge celebrity so I can causally walk around and only get one person ask for a picture or something every few weeks. It’s an easy life, but once I’ve released my album that might change.

MTVUK: You’ve given a few details about your album, Welcome To The World. Why did you choose that as a title?

Postscript: I decided to call it Welcome To The World as it’s my welcoming to the music industry, if you know what I mean? This will be my first album to be released on an official record label, and should be the album that gets me into the world that is the music industry and makes people notice me.

MTVUK: You worked with MattY and Marksii on your album, how did it feel to be working with the pair?

Postscript: It was weird at first, I mean MattY is huge in the business at the moment, he’s just getting better and better, and Marksii is just different to how I imagined. Last time I was told about Marksii he was still playing music with Lights Go Red, so I didn’t know if he’d be helpful for my type of music, but he’s into electronic music more than most people nowadays, and mixed with MattY’s grime abilities they’ve both shaped the album into how it is.

MTVUK: You’re first single Magic Spells charted at 7 in the Top 20 charts, did you expect that response?

Postscript: Not in the slightest. When me and Marksii wrote the song it was just to give an idea of some of the elements my album will have in it. Loads of electro and some raping mixed in with some singing. People seemed to have liked it, which is a good sign for the album!

MTVUK: The second single from Welcome To The World was released today (6th May 2011), how do you think fans will react?

Postscript: I think that anyone who likes experimental music will enjoy the mix of electronic music, then twisting it to an indie rock sound and mixing everything together. It’s different to my normal stuff, so it’s a nice change in my opinion.

MTVUK: Have you planned to release anymore singles before the album is released?

Postscript: I haven’t planned on bringing out more singles before the album is released, but I might release one of the songs as a single around the same time as the album just for the sake of it. It depends on what the label says as I’ve only got a 7 singles contract to last me 3 albums.

Postscript is currently on tour across the UK along with support from DJ duo R2-D6 and electronic pop artist XI IV, and his second single from his debut album Welcome To The World is out now on iTunes and in all good record stores via Monk On Fire Music, check his website www.postscript.co.uk and follow him on twitter @Postscript for more details.
