REÄLM
LIVE FROM THE FESTIVAL FOR JAPAN
SATURDAY 7TH MAY 2011

“A FUCKING GREAT SHOW. IT WAS A HUGE EXPERIENCE TO WORK IN A CHARITY EVENT AND TO PLAY IN JAPAN! WE KNOW OUR ALBUM SOLD WELL THERE AND WE WERE VERY HAPPY TO SEE THE JAPANESE FANS!”

- Tom Orgsen

[center]This was the band’s first show in Asia and their official third show outside Norway. With their first album peaking at #88 in the Asian Charts, they were very excited to see their fans there, but they were really happy to be playing in a Charity Event.

I was waiting for “Awaken The Dark” because I went to the band’s other shows and they always began them with that song, but that day their show started with muffled speech and heavy breathing for around about 30 seconds, it was very strange and I didn’t know what’s happening but then that unforgettable groovy riff began. Yes, the show started with the Mind Cover Bludgeoned Into Submission, the crowd went crazy and they sang the whole song. The band was really happy and excited playing this great song. After finishing the last melodies from that song, Tom started to talk with the People, “YEAHHH, I THINK ALL OF YOU KNOW THAT SONG, A COVER FROM THE METAL LEGENDS, MIND…BUT NOW THERE’S TIME TO HEAR THE FUCKING NORTHERN DARKNESS…THE NEXT SONG IS TAKEN FROM OUR DEBUT ALBUM, THIS IS AWAKEN THE DARK!” and the band began to play that Fast song, with a Catchy Chorous…Tom told the Japanese “HEY, YOU, SING WITH ME PLEASE!”…the people were shouting and the band was playing the song in a heavier way than the Studio Version.

The song finished and with only one or two seconds of silence, a rare intro started to sound and then the drummer began to do a short solo, Then “The Unholy Offering” began and the Stage turned into a Hell, Tom appeared in the stage wearing a costume of the Angel Of Death, the song has a lot of easy melodies to sing so it was one of the Most celebrated songs by the audience. The music finished but Tom recited “I GAVE YOU THIS UNHOLY OFFERING” with a dark voice and then he disappeared from the stage.

After the end of “The Unholy Offering”, the band take a short rest and then Tom appeared in the stage, he told the crowd “WE ARE VERY HAPPY TO BE HERE, IN THIS CHARITY EVENT, BECAUSE IN THE DAYS OF TRAGEDY WE HAVE TO FIGHT TOGETHER, IT DOESN’T MATTER IF YOU ARE BLACK, WHITE, FAT, SHORT…IT DOESEN’T MATTER IF YOU ARE IN A POP BAND, IN A METAL BAND, IN A RAP BAND, WE MUST HELP THE PERSONS THAT NEED US. THANKS TO THE ORGANIZERS OF THIS FESTIVAL, I AM SURE IT WILLB E ONE OF THE BEST EXPERIENCES IN MY LIFE.” the people applauded and Tom said “THANKS…THE NEXT SONG IS ONE OF THE LARGEST SONG WE HAVE EVER DONE, THE RITUAL”, a dark intro started to sound and then an Orchestral Apocalypse started, fading out into a very loud scream! The Song began and it’s very complex so it hasn’t an Easy Chorous but the crowd was very good. It finished with a lot of growl voices and loud screams.

They quickly started playing one of their most rare songs and Tom said “HEY! WE HAVE A GUEST FOR THIS SONG…MR. BILL OWENS” Bill entered the stage and said “ARE YOU FUCKING READY?” to the crowd. Gateways to a New Dimension”, the crowd wasn’t as excited as before, there was smoke in the stage, mixed with awesome blue lights, in the middle of the song, the bassist, Terje Lundsten, did a short but great bass solo and then the band continued with the song but in a Faster and Heavier way.

Tracklist:
1. Bludgeoned Into Submission (Mind Cover)
2. Awaken The Dark
3. The Unholy Offering
4. The Ritual
5. Gateways To A New Dimension

OOC: I've been asked to post two roleplays so do you think I should just post them now instead of waiting until their time is up.

karoliena verlinden singing "domination"

setlist:
1.too drunk not to fuck
2.milk cartons
3.oh bondage,up yours! (xray spex cover)
4.go go gadget
5. domination (karoliena and erica on vocals)

the harlots take the stage to the very cliched clockwork orange theme.erica greets the crowd with "Konbanwa!",to which the crowd enthusiastically responds.she continues with "sorry,i dont know anymore japanese...we're the harlots and we hope you guys have fun tonight!" starting with chloe (drums),one by one the band starts playing along to the clockwork orange theme.this build speed until they switch into "too drunk not to fuck".

"too drunk not to fuck",goes over well.the song is about girls who blame their promiscuity on alcohol, instead of taking responsibility for their actions.the song is humorous and easy to sing along to.soon after it starts, fans are doing the can-can in the aisles.

next is "milk cartons".the song is a 180 from "too drunk...",it is slow and grinding.the subject matter is equally odd.it tells a story of a woman who watches a hobo pick milk cartons out of her trash every thursday.this drives her mad until she finally kills him and disposes of his dismembered body in future discarded milk cartons.based off a short film by erich hess.

after "milk cartons"'s din fades from the speakers.erica addresses the crowd, "recently poly styrene of the xray spex fell victim to breast cancer.so we'd like to do one of their best known tunes as a tribute......some people think little girls should be seen and not heard.but i think...."the band then switches into high and really gets things going..possibly because this is the only song people know, the harlots are basically unknown in japan.nina sangria's guitar work does a damn fine job of covering the duties of the guitar and saxophone the original possesses.

nothing gets people going like a good cartoon theme song.the harlots have played the inspector gadget theme song since their inception. "go go gadget" is a sort of bastardized version of the inspector gadget theme, mixed with the song from speed racer.the crowd gets a pretty respectable circle pit going to this tune.

karoliena trades mics with erica and the band tears into "domination".originally penned for karoliena's solo albums,"domination" is about, well what else...domination.karoliena's smooth and jazzy vocals compliment erica's squeaky, near cartoony vocals pretty well. the two go back and forth with erica begging to be whipped harder, and karoliena refusing.

the band closes the show by taking a very beatles like bow.chloe tosses her drum sticks into the crowd .erica smacks her in the head and warns her "you coulda put someone's eye out!!!"
