Chaos Awards II - Round 2

Once again, hello Chaos fans! How are we all today? Good good. Welcome to round two of the Chaos Awards II!! But, before we get to round two, let's have a recap of round one for those who missed the nominees

UserPostedImage

UserPostedImage

Congratulations to everyone who picked up nominations, and comiserations to the chaps and chappettes who didn't get nominated this time. Don't worry though, there will be plenty of other opportunities in the future!

So onto ROUND TWO

In this round, the judges will decide who actually wins the awards.

If your act has been nominated for an award then feel free to plug again in this thread. ONLY PLUG FOR AWARDS YOU ARE NOMINATED FOR PLEASE.

Plugging for round two is a very very short process. The plugging window will slam the fuck shut tomorrow evening at MIDNIGHT BST (UK time, if you need to compare that to your own time, the google is your new freind lol)

Then, from that moment, the judges will have exactly 72 hours (or until Sunday at midnight BST) to send me their votes, outlining who they would like to see win.

Now the voting in the Chaos awards is different to the birdies. We are going all AV on this shit again. You do not vote for just one winner, as you do at the IMAs, you vote for your three favourites

For example,if the nominees were:

Red Hot Chili Peppers
Foo Fighters
Panic at the Disco
Queen
AC/DC
The Darkness

You might vote like this

Red Hot Chili peppers (your fave) 3 pts
Panic at the Disco - 2 pts
AC/DC - 1pt

SO TO MAKE IT CLEAR. YOU PICK YOUR THREE TOP CHOICES...YOUR TOP CHOICE IS AWARDED THREE POINTS, YOUR SECOND CHOICE 2 POINTS, AND YOUR THIRD CHOICE 1 POINT. THE REST ARE AWARDED NO POINTS

If anyone has ANY questions on this then please PM me asap.

I think that is all for now. So plug away!!

Victoria is 1/5 of Brown Sugar. She is 19 years old and has a big powerful voice that could blow many divas away. Victoria's debut single "The Rain" peaked at No.3 in The Top 20 and stayed in the charts for numerous weeks despite being relatively unknown. She has proved she is here to stay.

Yes, but they CAN (Triple fucking underlined) vote for Infinite as 'Best Live Act' due to their performance at Wembley Stadium. Oh, and all the other awards they were nominated for, that'd be pretty cool as well!

I'll do a more-detailed plugging later on! :)

Infinite- Alternative/Experimental Rock; influenced by Muse, Radiohead, and The Beatles

(Known best for their experimental music and their frontman's eccentric behavior, the band disbanded after Eric Quillington's death to pursue solo careers or, in Matt Robert's case, peace of mind. "When asked 'how do you write?' I invariably answer, 'one word at a time', and this answer is invariably dismissed. But that's all it is. It sounds too simple to be true, but consider the Great Wall of China, if you will: one stone at a time, man. That's all. One stone at a time. But I've read you can see that motherfucker from space without a telescope."

Best Band - Mind

Mind were one of the most important and relevant bands in their generation. Although they didn't last for very long, the impact that they had on mainstream metal is unfathomable, managing to bring progressive into the limelight and making a rock icon out of Jason Smith.

Best Band/ Best Solo Male - The Jason Smith Band/ Jason Smith

Although Mind made him a superstar, no one quite knew how he would come back from its dissolution and return. He did so with the stellar Jason Smith Band and their debut album Still Waters, a progressive rock modern masterpiece. He also plans to go even further, with a double album and a musical all waiting for their approval. Always collaborating with people from all genres, whether producing or actually featuring, he has earned approval all across the board. Even though he is only 25, his rapid rise to metal legend is one to put down in the history books.

Best Newcomer - Cherise

Cherise kicked off her solo career at the Chaos awards back in November with a debut performance of 'Pyramid' getting her name onto a big stage and performing her butt off. the song became a hit on the airplay chart eventually reaching #1 at the start of the year and spending 21 weeks on chart , she followed this up with a suprise performance at the HOF awards of 'Redlight' the much talked about and hyped follow up, bringing in man of the moment MattY to spice it up even more for a special version of the single reaching #3 on airplay. These 2 singles built up nicely to her debut album 'Destination Unknown' which hit #2 on heat album chart just behind Stephanie Fierce. Cherise then put in a 12 date tour performing hits old and new and putting a show on like never before, as well as her own tour she's getting ready to support Miss Vanity on her Oceania leg of her sell out tour and special guesting with Alicia Lena in August as well as performing at the IMA's where she picked up 6 nominations. She recently released her final single 'Bottled Up' completing her 1 2 3 by reaching #2 on airplay chart and is currently working on the much anticipated 2nd album due July 2011.

Best Album - Cherise : Destination Unknown

Cherise unleashed her debut album on the world in March, already making the album one of the most anticipated where the two singles 'Pyramid' and 'Redlight'. The album boasted plenty of possible hit singles including the brilliant duet with Millie Little (for the last time) you cheated me and varied from big ballads with blending vocals (Love Me, Leave Me, Bleed Me) to the ultimate pop/r'n'b club song ('Bottled Up', 'Hungry'N'Horny) to the stripped back bluesy soul 'This Is The Time, But Not The Place'. The album peaked at #2 with only Miss Fierce holding Cherise from the top of the peak on the Heat Chart.

Best Event - Cherise : The Redlight Tour 2011

Cherise took to her first headline tour round smaller venues to get up close with her fans giving the fans what they wanted she took on 12 dates around the Uk and Ireland, trying to cover as many reachable places as possible. The tour featured all the singles plus some added extras she covered 'Close To Tears' the Matty and Alicia Lena classic where she got up coming star Mykaylah to perform MattY's rap and had help from Millie Little her support act for their own duet. As well as a suprise appearence by her sister Celeste to perform the Ang3licD3vil hit 'Killa'. As A special on the final night on tour in London Cherise managed to get MattY to join her on stage as a suprise together they performed 'Close To Tears', 'Redlight' and their new duet together 'Takin Over'. The tour was a hit with fans and critics alike and sold out at every night.

MattY

Best Solo Artist (Male)
Since his arrival on the scene just under a year ago, MattY has become a household name - not only around the UK, but around the world. He has been quoted as "Rap's Saviour" by Chaos Magazine, after releasing an acoustic recording of his latest single Lazarus which is the second song from MattY's back catalogue to feature Eric Quillington. Of the 8 singles MattY has released to this date (May 11th); 7 have charted in the top 10, 3 in the top 3 and 2 have actually been number 1s. MattY's upcoming second album - Growth - is one of the most highly anticipated albums to be released this year; currently spawning 2 number 1 hits - Close To Tears and Taking Over. According to The Top 20 Weekly Airplay Chart; MattY is currently a record holder for the most weeks at number 1 with one song - this would be the Birdie and Hall of Fame Award winning single Close To Tears. This week, MattY is hoping to achieve his third number 1 hit of his career, and from this album.

Best Single - Close To Tears (ft. Alicia Lena)
Close To Tears is the multi-award winning first single from MattY's upcoming second album, Growth. It was written about how MattY felt after his role-model (His Great-Grandfather - yes Great-Grandfather) passed away. The song has been performed live on numerous occasions with the help of the lovely Alicia Lena. This song currently has the record for most weeks at the top of The Top 20 Weekly Airplay Charts, as well as a Birdie for Best Single, and was inducted into the Hall of Fame as the Best Collaboration.

Best Single - Taking Over (ft. Cherise)
Taking Over was the follow up single to Close To Tears; it reached number 1 on The Top 20 Weekly Airplay Chart in it's first week of being available. It has since been up and down the charts, but has never got back on top. The song was written with Cherise in mind for a feature, as they both seemed to be 'Taking Over' the music industry at the time.

Fathers of Fury

Best Band
Fathers of Fury burst onto the music scene late last year after coming second in thier local battle of the bands competition. They released a demo to some local radio stations, which was heard by Jake Wilson. He then came to one of their live gigs and promptly signed them to Junction Records. Fathers of Fury haven't really had a massive amount of success with their singles on The Top 20 Airplay Chart, but that didn't stop their debut album - Fathers of Fury being one of the most highly anticipated albums of 2010! Their most recent single features the incredible Stacey Walton on guest vocals, and she does an incredible job of helping to boost the song and take it to the next level.

Best Live Act
Fathers of Fury have played all across America in the Warped! Tour and the Just Another US Tour; as well as their current UK Tour. Here is a link to the opening show of their UK Tour: Fathers of Fury Live at Wembley [30/4/11]

Technical Ecstasy - Ollie King
Ollie King is the Lead Guitarist for Fathers of Fury. He is known for his crazy riffs which never fail to raise the standard of the atmosphere in the audience.

Best Single - Fairground Doubts
Fairground Doubts is the first Top 3 single that Fathers of Fury released. It was also the third single from FoF’s debut album, and is based around the idea of being unsure about how to go to the next level. The phrase ‘Fairground doubts’ comes from the idea that when you are at a fair there is a lot to do and you can go anywhere and do anything, but then when it comes to winning the prize you freeze and can’t do it. The song is based on a personal experience from Jack Straw – but it is an experience that almost all people will get at some point in their lives. The song starts with a steady drum beat and the base and rhythm playing at the same time. There is an occasional strum from Ollie King’s guitar every 5-10 seconds for the first 45 seconds then he starts playing properly. Jack Straw’s vocals start after Ollie King’s third strum. The song has no verbal chorus but instead has instrumental breaks that are made to represent you plucking up the courage to try and take the next step. This is represented by the drum beat in the background, which gradually gets quicker throughout those instrumental breaks. This song was written by Jack Straw.

Best Single - Powerhouse (ft. Stacey Walton)
Powerhouse was Fathers of Fury's second top 3 single, and it the first single from Fathers of Fury’s second album. It is a powerful track featuring rock-chick Stacey Walton doing joint vocals with front-man Jack Straw. It is about being the most powerful and being the best, and Jack thought who better to have on this track than Stacey Walton, who is considered to have been the most successful new rock artist on the scene, being a direct opposition for Fathers of Fury. The track starts with a heavy riff from Ollie King. Half way through this, Freddie Johnson starts his steady drum beat, with an occasional symbol. The riff gets towards the end and Freddie hits the symbols 5 times. On the third hit of the symbol, Stacey hits a very powerful note to start off the vocals in the song. Stacey takes the first half of the first verse, with Jack finishing it off. The chorus involves Stacey and Jack both singing together, with their voices harmonising very well. Under the vocals in the chorus, Jack Straw is really going for it on the bass guitar, with Ollie King really taking the song to town with his intense riffs throughout. Isaac Thompson keeps a steady rhythm going throughout the track, which must be difficult with all of the other stuff going on. The second verse is much the same as the first, but after the second chorus all goes quiet except for a long note held by Jack and Stacey. Towards the end of this everyone comes back in with their instruments and they do the chorus again. The song finishes with Jack just saying the word “Powerhouse”. The song was written by Jack Straw with Stacey Walton in mind for a feature.

Personality - Jack Straw
Jack Straw is seen as being 'The Frontman' of Fathers of Fury. He is considered a respectable guy; and he is also dating American Singer-Songwriter Jenny Hudson.
Fathers of Fury (RP Only)
Jack Straw: Vocals and Base Guitar
Ollie King: Lead Guitar
Isaac Thomon: Rhythm Guitar
Freddie Johnson: Drums

Best Newcomer - Katie Coyle

Has anyone made a bigger impact in their first few months ever than Katie? She's had a debut single "It's only my Eyes" debut at number 7 in the charts and stay there for over 2 months, before being involved in a scandal to end all scandals, as she was accused of being a lesbian, with superstar Miss Vanity. She was later beaten up, had her arm snapped 3 times, admitted being a lesbian with superstar Miss Vanity, got chucked and then started dating the very girl who broke her arm...phew.

Back to the music though, and Katie has recently released her next single "Naked on Paper", a critically acclaimed single which depicts her disastrous recent relationship with the media. Check it oouuut!

Katie - Hi. This song, it's called "Naked On Paper", is a song which means quite a bit to me. The title is a metaphor, referring to how exposed I felt seeing stuff written about me in magazines and newspapers, and how it made me feel that I was just the public's eye candy...I essentially did feel naked for weeks.
I wrote this track whilst all of the "rumours" surrounding the Miss Vanity scandal were going on. It was a very difficult time for me, because of the fact that I had to not only try to protect myself and pretend that it was all lies, but I felt like I had to protect Vanity's best interests as well. She had told me not to tell anyone about us, but she was feeling very little pressure from the media. So I felt like I had to hold up a whole load of lies, and deceit on my own whilst she used me as the barrier to allow her to do what she does.

The song reflects my dark dark emotions at the time. You'll hear the lyrics, they're all about lies, harassment, bombarding, exposure etc. This was what I was feeling at the time of writing it, when I was locked in a hotel room, alone, facing wave after wave of paparazzi. The music itself is also quite dark. Because of the broken arm, I had Eric Quillington in for this one playing guitar. Eric is a true musician, and he was really easy to work with, and I think his guitar playing on this track captures my feelings of isolation and fear really really well.

In terms of the artwork. That has a good story to it. This is a picture I took in one of my "less stable" moments. I hadn't slept in like 48 hours, and they were knocking on my door, shouting, "Katie, just admit it....did you sleep with Vanity?" "Come out, let us see you...give us a picture" and all that. So I grabbed my own camera, threw the door open and screamed "How do you like it" as I took pictures of them...probably not the best move at the time. But we got to use the picture for this single cover, and we just threw a coloured pencil filter over it, and I think it looks ok. The black outer border, which is very thick, was my idea. It's supposed to symbolise the barrier of that world. There literally was no way out. I was boxed in with those people, those cameras.

Track description - (if you look down, each part of the lyrics has been given a number/letter so you can follow the description easier) The song starts with a slow, smooth keyboard intro. It sounds very soothing, and almost peaceful, before a loud acoustic guitar breaks the serenity, and plays one loud chord, before going into a medium paced chord progression, as Katie sings the opening verse (1).
Verse (1) is sung in short, slow bursts. Each line of the song is started at the same time as the guitar plays a single chord, which rings out as she sings the rest of the line. There is also a momentary pause at the end of each line.

Between verse (1) and (2) there is a ten second break, where the guitar picks up and plays a medium to fast paced folky progression, which symbolises the frantic lifestyle of celebrity culture.
Verse (2) is sung in the same fashion, with the same music as (1), until the last line where Katie sings a bit louder, and the guitar plays repeated chords, building up to the chorus

(.C) Comes in with the guitar playing a loud, triumphant, but dark sounding chord, accompanied by the smooth keyboard once again. They play a lot faster than in the verse, and Katie's lyrics are a lot smoother, as each line runs into the next, without the gaps used in the verses. The last line of each chorus is sung slower, without any music, which just fades at the end of the penultimate line.

(3) the first line of verse (3) is sung without music, before the guitar joins in on line 2, but this time it plays constant chords rather than just one at the start of each line. There are gaps in the vocals as in (1) and (2), but no gaps in the guitar playing.

(.C) just as above, but the music stops abruptly as Katie sings the last line of the chorus

(4) is sung with just keyboard and no guitar. The smooth keyboard at this point is used to symblolise the haunting feeling that Katie felt when she needed Vanity. She felt alone, but there was always an eerie silence when she called out for help The lyics are sung in the same manner as all the other choruses.

(.B1) the first bridge is very fast paced but still very much in a minor key. Each line is sung with a punch, as if their is some venom behind it. The final word "lust" is held for a while, as the guitar plays a jumpy repeated chord to build up once again to the chorus

(.C) Chorus as above

(.B2) This is sung completely acapella and very quickly. Katie has like a filter over her voice to make it sound quite distant and haunting, but there is a real sense of hate in her voice, as if she wants the listener to feel the pain that she felt. This repeats, exactly the same.

(.C) Chorus as above

(.C) Chorus sung acapella, after line 4 it really slows down, and by the end, it sounds like Katie's voice is breaking through crying. The last line is sung through tears, and incredibly slowly, before the guitar comes back in and plays a very slow, and very minor key finger picking section. It then finishes with one, slow, deliberate chord, which sounds very sad.

The lyrics

(1)A bright flash of lightning
Obscurity’s death
Turn eyes to the pages
A rumour spread
I pray for the silence
My friend in the dark
Casting a shadow
On my heavy heart

(2)I feel interrupted
By society’s glare
I’d never have asked to
Be such a fare
I turn and I block out
My mind is a blur
Running from rumours
Like a wildfire they burn

(.C)And now I’m naked on paper, I’m
Exposed to the world
It’s a hopeless situation, and
I’m just a hopeless girl, oh so
Naked on paper
Why can’t you see all the pain, oh
My mind is like a pavement
Weather beaten in the rain

(3)There’s light in the tunnel
It’s far at the end
A glow of resistance,
My silence commends,
But soon it’s all shattered
Privacy isn’t free
Public interrogation
Is all for me

(.C)And now I’m naked on paper, I’m
Exposed to the world
It’s a hopeless situation, and
I’m just a hopeless girl, oh so
Naked on paper
Why can’t you see all the pain, oh
My mind is like a pavement
Weather beaten in the rain

(4)It’s all here on me
The public glare
You get off scot-free
Whilst I’m laid bare
I beg for assistance
It’s changing me
But you didn’t help it
You have to have seen

(.B1)And now I see through this game
This unforgiving fame
It’s a… lonely existence
Filled with enemies and resistance
I tried to turn and walk away
It’s my life but I can’t play
It’s all lies and there’s no trust
I’m just a girl, not society’s lust

(.C)And now I’m naked on paper, I’m
Exposed to the world
It’s a hopeless situation, and

Naked on paper
Why can’t you see all the pain, oh

About 4 or 5 months ago, I called Katie Coyle "One-Man Radiohead". Four months, a nice little tour and a media scandal later, what will I think of her now?

Naked On Paper is what I'd call a sonnet or anthem to the media. The song itself is heavily anti-media and speaks openly about Coyle's relationship with Paparazzi and Miss Vanity. Little Miss Radiohead rocks on with Infinite Lead Singer, Eric Quillington and the duo make quite a dynamic duo. So far, this is actually my favorite song of 2011, no I'm wrong. It's my favorite song of the last 2 years and I'd be lying if I said the lyrics didn't give me new insight on the whole Katie - Vanity story.

I'm a little proud of Coyle since she's come a long way in such a short time and I'm proud to honor her with Metacritic's first:

10/10

Best Band - Mudshovel

The Rap Metal Supergoup featuring huge musicians: MattY, Dan Richerds, Kieran Marks, Harry Thornton and the Infamous norwegian drummer Bjarne Orgsen (the brother of Tom Orgsen from REÄLM). The Project was created by Bjarne Orgsen after leaving his band (a very small band from Oslo). He was looking to make a Rap Metal Group and he gathered some of the best musicians in the music scene, from very different styles. He never thought he could be in a band with this great musicians so he's living his dream. The band made a live performance at the Birdies and their first Single "It's All Gone" reached the #10 position in its first week. Mudshovel has just released their second single, "Alone" and their debut album "Society Of Rats" will be released in May / June 2011.

Best Newcomer - REÄLM

They reached the music world in February 2011 and quickly released their first Single, "Awaken The Dark" that peaked at #14 in the Charts, after releasing two more singles they released their first Full-Lenght album, "The Sacred Chants Of Death" and they have played live shows in the Total Annihilation 3, the Kick Off Festival and the Festival For Japan plus their first live show in Oslo, Norway. Some people hate them and other people called them the New Metal Promise but they have only released one studio album. The album was produced by Famous metal guitarist/vocalist/producer Jason Smith and it features some interesting guests like Robert Williams of The Verdict Is Vengeance (he's featured in they band's most-successful song, "Beyond Your Eyes Can See" that peaked at #11 in the Chart). They are confirmed for the Rever Festival and the Total Annihilation 4.

Best Personality(Did not see any of my characters were nominated for this until now :P) Nicole Woods: Went from being a quite girl to all of a sudden a major cunt and beating the shit out of her current girlfriend! What the fuck is better then a confused 18 year old girl? A confused bi sexual 18 year old girl who is dating the girl whose arm she broke and whose face she also broke.

Best Solo Artist- Matt Urie: Matt broke away from the full band scene and released a solo Punk/Acoustic/Emo album entitled "Stalker" the first single off of Stalker called "Stalker" peaked at number 4 on the charts and has helped boost the young musicians career(Pretty much I know I wont win this but hey! Worth a shot :P)

Best Solo Artist(Female): Hannah Beth

After taking a 2 year hiatus, Hannah Beth returned and went right back to work on her sophomore album, Tough and Tender. Her first single Catch Your Eye went gold in a matter of weeks as did her second single Dangerous and When Im Dead. Her album went on to going Platinum 3x, an amazing feat for anyone.

Best Newcomer: Lily

Formerly known as a member from Screaming in Silence,Lily made her way back into the music scene as a solo artist. She didn't waste any time writing and recording with the release of her first single Digital Love, which sold over 800,00 copies the first three weeks. She also released The Bitch in Me which she explained the meaning of; "It's a song i wrote for 3 people and those 3 people know who they are. It's basically about me trying to save a friendship but it just can't be saved because we're all on different paths and it's just doesn't work out. I think this song is one of the emotional songs on my album." Lily continues to gain fame with her honest lyrics and honest personality.

A sophomore album is always a tricky task for anyone. How to expand on what you delivered previously and how to create something that’s fresh and not a rehash of old material. Some people crumble under the pressure of it all and some people rise to the occasion, rarely is their an in-between.
Hannah Beth returned after a brief disappearance from the music industry and quickly began work on her sophomore effort Tough And Tender and may have surprised people from the get-go with the opening track.

Dangerous
A guitar fueled less than friendly track, it’s title said everything you needed to know and it’s a nice change to see a “pop” artist let go and unleash a certain devilish charm. Certainly different from what we’re used to and a welcome change.
It’s a dark tale straight from the Stephen King handbook that follows a young girl with a duel personality, a murder mystery party turns into a real life nightmare as 6 people fall victim to the young girls split personality. It sets the album up very nicely and gives Hannah room to move without raising expectations too high. All in all a good foundation to build the album on.

Shout (I Love You)
Your quickly brought back down to reality with a bump with the second song. A very different, pop friendly approach about just shouting about how much you love someone, Similar in theory to the Alicia Lena collaboration Rooftops (Feat. Ryan Ross Hernandez). It’s a total pop love song and couldn’t be more different from the album opener, it may make some people feel like vomiting at the sheer levels of happiness in the track but it’s charming nevertheless.

Think Again
This song seems to be in keeping with the previous track rather than the opener. Hannah seems like a completely different artist on this track, certainly in comparison to Dangerous.
It’s another radio friendly pop track, it’s a kind of break up song, not exactly an original idea but it puts a smile on your face and provides charm and warmth. Although the song may be radio friendly and pop oriented you can see the maturity in Hannah Beth’s writing, growth from an artist and at the perfect time.
It’s essentially about a girl attempting to make her ex-boyfriend jealous in a last ditch attempt to make him miss her, it’s heart warming and charming, but fails to stand alongside other commercially successful pop songs.

Catch Your Eye
The standout track possibly. Well there’s a few stand out tracks on the album and this is definitely one of them. It’s an upbeat song, possibly about a young girl who happens to enjoy attention but maybe enjoys teasing a little more. It’s a song about a young girl content on flirting with a man at a club with no intention of taking things any further, slightly frustrating for the guy? Maybe but it makes for a very interesting and fun pop track with more of a dance influence to it. Likely to become a big hit in clubs all over the USA.

Best Kept Secret
A decent track but it fails to stand alongside Catch Your Eye, Dangerous, When I’m Dead and A Fathers Love. It’s a song about a girl in the midst of an affair, after finding herself frustrated at sharing a man, she decides to reveal herself as the mistress to her lovers other woman. Despite It’s rhythmic beats, easy melodies and catchy chorus, it fails to give this track any real depth and lacks anything other than a passing appreciation at the musicianship on show. It’s not gonna break ground but it’s listenable enough to redeem it from being considered a poor effort.

Save Her
This is the kind of song that I particularly enjoy. It’s story and it’s depth is what makes it memorable. It’s about a young girl who happens to be treated badly by her mother, abuse, sorrow and a somewhat surprising ending. It’s haunting melodies and vocally one of the strongest tracks on the album gives it a memorable quality.

Emily’s Song
At this point, you may be thinking, please not another love song, it is a story overused in every kind of medium, films have made this kind of story over and over again and there’s been so many songs that have followed this kind of story.
It’s about a young girl who falls in love with a young guy, as love always is when your young, it’s naïve and it’s wreckless and as you’d expect, one of them has to leave and oh, the one left behind finds a new love and oh she ends up being torn between two lovers. However, Hannah can be forgiven because she’s young and she’s allowed to dream, my least favourite song on the album.

Stray
A story about the first time you leave home, a song everyone can relate to and a very honest representation of it. That loneliness and fear you feel and then the comfort and normality that begins to happen as you get used to leaving home. It’s very honest and at some points can even choke you up as you remember that feeling of independence and leaving your old life behind, a sweet and surprise track, definitely worth a listen.

A Fathers Love
This song has so much raw emotion. Hannah opens her heart on the track and you can’t help but feel pain for the person singing. The lyrics are beautiful and the music is just as good but it never takes away from the lyrics and that is something to behold, certainly for someone considered to be a popstar. The music never takes away from the lyrics in this song and the emotion is incredible, it has depth and that’s what I’m looking for from music. Easily the standout track from the album.

Stand Alone (A Fool For You)
A total, teen drama track, in my opinion anyway. It’s about dealing with heartbreak and moving forward with your life. It’s the story of a girl, unlucky in love and now unwilling to open her heart to anyone, of course as the song progresses, she finds someone who happens to start to open heart up a little bit. It’s another pop song on a predominantly pop album, it’s a good track and could be a pretty successful single.

Thinking Of You
This track is the second part of A Fathers Love. Written together with her young brother as was A Fathers Love and it shows just how good they could become as a song writing team, although this isn’t another pop song. It’s about remembering the person who loved you most in the world after they’ve gone and it’s another of those emotional tracks that Hannah seems to have found a niche with and I think this could be the future of her music. If she can continue to write such beautifully emotional songs then she’s got an incredible future ahead of her.

Just Another
It’s another song about independence and it sets the album up for a great ending, the previous track gave you emotion and feeling and this track gives you a smile and some inspiration. It’s about being more than someone’s girlfriend. It’s about creating your own path and walking it. It’s your life and you should walk it the way you want to. It’s about taking charge and it’s another good song.

When I’m Dead
The bonus track ends the album perfectly. It’s an upbeat track about leaving one life behind, will you miss people when your gone, It’s another really well written track and another with an element of emotion to it. A line, “You Don’t Know What You’ve Got Until It’s Gone.” couldn’t describe the song anymore. It’s a very good song and if Hannah can continue to write these kind of songs throughout her career then it’s gonna be a very long career indeed.

The album is a worthwhile purchase. It’s an emotional rollercoaster at times, one moment your smiling and the next your almost on the verge of tears. It has it’s bad points but they’re almost completely outweighed by the good points, standout track, Dangerous, Catch Your Eye, A Fathers Love, Thinking Of You, Just Another and When I’m Dead are all songs which are certainly worth listening to. And there’s a few upbeat pop tracks for the casual fan but for someone looking for something with a little bit more, I recommend taking a listen to this album, it has depth and emotion and feeling but it also doesn’t stray too far into the darkness.
All in all a good sophomore record and something to build on, maybe just perfecting one or two of those pop songs that fill the middle of the album would be a good idea and could in the future turn her work from good into great. But I’d definitely recommend this album.

7/10

This is Kim Black's second time being nominated for a "hotness" related award. She did not win the first time. That was okay. But if the red-headed siren does is defeated a second time it will be an outrage. If male judges wish to earn a special place in the fair lady's heart, they should ensure that she wins this time. She will be honored, and remember everyone who voted for her.
