I'm interested in roleplaying on this site, and so ive been reading roleplay threads and ive noticed some things that have brought up some questions. 1) i see people writing their band's lyrics. Now i could do this for singles and such, but i dont think id have the time or ability to do this for every song on an album. Is this a problem? Or are singles the only things that actually require lyrics? 2) Is a record label needed to tour and release singles and albums? If so, how do i go about getting my band a label? If not, what are the advantages to having a label, and how can i get signed if i so choose? that is all. Thank you! |

Yo :)
1) Lyrics aren't essential to roleplay, they're only there to enhance it. If you don't feel the need to write lyrics, you don't have to. Quite a few of the best RPers don't actually write lyrics.
2) It's up to you. Of course, it's nice to have a label, but it's only RP and you can do as you choose. If you want to get signed, just create a thread for your band and tell us about them. It's up to you when you release stuff, just don't do it too often otherwise it will become annoying.
Hope that helps. |

RP should be seen as the freedom to do whatever you want. If you want to write lyrics, go for it, if not then just feel free to leave it out. It's an open ended world essentially, and how immersive your own play is , is totally up to you. Also, have a look at this thread, immensely helpful. http://www.therockstarga...t.aspx?g=posts&t=959 and don't be afraid to ask for tips and help whenever. I'm always willing to help, just PM if you need any assistance. |

Lyrics aren't neccesary at all, I never write them and probably never will. You don't need an ingame label either, even though it's nice to have. You can just say you're signed somewhere or be an indie band. |

Great to see some new faces. Yeah, basically, neither of those things are essential. Lyrics mostly help give people an insight into what your band's songs and albums are really about. I like reading them because seeing that someone wrote "this is a song about getting over someone who dumped you" isn't as pleasurable as reading it for myself. Also, if your artist makes concept albums (Which is all mine ever make) then it helps build the story more. A label isn't needed at all. It can just make things fun because label mates are usually more likely to reply in your topics than if they weren't on the same label. |

How do you go about getting your artists signed!? I'm not even sure any more. I have six unsigned artists who have had a fair amount of introduction, and nobody shows any interest in them (*sob*). Should I just look for some label threads and ask? Is it my fault for not asking enough times? (I have asked before, and always make it clear that my releases are not on a label.) Or do I just suck and you all have some secret conspiracy theory saying "DON'T SIGN BIKKI'S ARTISTS, THEY'RE ALL WEIRD AND MADCORE"? :P |

It seems to have moved now though to a system where band owners pm the label owner asking for a deal. At least that's how one of mine was done...I just realised the other one was done the old way though :p |

If your band/artist doesn't get signed/or asked to be signed, then ask a label. Simple as that :P

I honestly don't think I've ever really seen threads for more than a couple of your artists. I have sometimes approached artists that I feel should be signed to Nomad but several have also PMed me. |
