Being in arguably the worlds biggest pop girl group, how has GirlSpice affected your life?
We were really meant to stop everything a while back with our "One Last Goodbye Tour", that was the planned ending of GirlSpice; but there's such an eagerness me and the rest of the girls have for the group that we just couldn't give it up. Especially me, I've been in GirlSpice from the very start and its a huge part of who I am. But of course, with the good, comes the bad, I've had to suffer pretty much no private life, which really damaged me mentally and leaded to me being diagnosed with bipolar disorder.

As a sufferer of that, what can you say to fans out there who suffer from the same disorder?
Just because I'm in the spotlight doesn't mean that I have anything better to say than the any average sufferer of bipolar disorder, it's just something I deal with. I obviously have to take medication, but my life runs regularly and it doesn't affect how I live my life; I have good and bad days, just like everybody else. But I choose to stay positive and just see the better things instead of the worst, because that's how things really can get you down.

At the start of your career, you went into rehab and appeared maybe a little unhinged? Was the fame the cause of that?
Definitely, I was having a mental breakdown and I felt like I couldn't handle what was being thrown at me, there was no escape, and it felt like I had no choice, so I just rebelled... all is good now, though! (Laughs)

All of that rebellious attitude caused you to be pretty much hated. Would you agree with that?
(Looks around innocently and then breaks into laughter) Umm... really? I don't remember that. No, seriously, I think I acted terribly at the start of my career, the other girls who were in the group at the time kicked me out because I was just a wreck to deal with. The fans were petitioning to get me out too, and it felt like everybody just wanted rid of me at that time, which I can't blame them for. So I put up this "I don't give a fuck" front, it was kinda like that girl Cassie Bitch, y'know? I see small hints of my early self in her, but I wasn't anywhere near as bad... at least I hope not!

So what made you get your act together?
Well after being kicked out the band, I made my first self-titled solo album which underperformed, my career was looking pretty much dead at the time, and I was recently diagnosed with my disorder at the time. So I took a break away from everything and just dealt with my problems day by day, I told myself to mature and stop taking out my problems on everyone else in my life. I had to force myself back on the right path before I lost everything.

Moving onto GirlSpice. As a group, you've been bashed before for lack of talent. What's your response that?
Say what you want about us, but we've been in the industry a damn lot longer than most people and that's something I'm proud of. You need some sort of talent to have the fans stay with you for this long, and they most definitely have. The new album is really showing GirlSpice's abilities as we've wrote it all for the first time, so we're all really excited to showcase the material! The response to the lead single has been really great.

What's so different about this album compared to all of the others?
It's a lot more urban and edgier than the past material from GirlSpice, we're getting more mature now and so we won't be doing the light dance-pop tracks forever and looking like a band solely for kids, right? We think our fans have grown up with us, so we're changing with them. It's still an album for the clubs, but I think sonically we've matured a lot.

Do you enjoy the music GirlSpice makes as your solo material is so different?
You're right, my solo material is a lot more guitar-based and more pop-rock, with some acoustic stuff mixed in with it all as well. I'm a sucker for soft rock ballads and that kinda stuff, so that's something very much present on my solo stuff. But I genuinely do love the music I make both with the group and as a solo artist, I get the best of both worlds that way!

Do you think you'll ever make another solo album?
Definitely, I'm one for never saying never, people thought GirlSpice wouldn't make another studio album and here we are! So I just look to what the future brings... I think after this GirlSpice album though, we'll take a break and I'll probably do another solo record, I've got an urge to be both a GirlSpice member and both a solo artist, so I'm really determined to get a lot of music out there this and next year!

Do GirlSpice have plans to tour for this album?
Maybe, we haven't really discussed it much... we'd just like to do some festivals and stuff in the future, but I think we've missed a lot of the sign-up dates! (Laughs) So we'll have to wait a little while for some more to come up, and then you'll be seeing us there, definitely. But tour wise, I can't confirm anything.

Part 2 coming soon

Lily: From one girl with a disorder to another, i think it's great to stay positive about it. I admit, some days i get a little frustrated but staying positive is the key. :)

Stephanie Fierce: I liked your first album as a solo artist, it was cute. You def need to make another ;)

Linda Fea: The ugly ducking of the group is always the most successful. But this bitch needs to quit her melodramatic shit. I was having a "mental breakdown" yadi yadi yada.

What do you think of the industry these days compared to when GirlSpice first launched?
When we first came out, the industry was so promising, it was all really exciting and we were just so eager, then it had a quiet patch and now I think we're starting to see those promising times again, I think this is definitely the best its been in a long, long time, and its times like these where it's hard to stay away from music because you just get so caught up in it all. Remember the days of Eventual, Talent Radar and Midnight/Mythic Records? Good times... take me back! No current label had anything on what those were like back then... they were huge.

GirlSpice once had a label called Spice Records which is now no longer running. Do you think that would ever make a return one day?
I doubt it, it had a good run but we're focusing on other things now and a label is so demanding, especially if you want to make a good label, it's a lot of hard work. We didn't do things small though! We had our own Spice Stadium for the biggest acts out there to perform in, we experimented with pretty much everything... I'd like to do something else though, but I don't know exactly what. Keep an eye out!

So, The Chaos Awards are coming up and you recently said you will be attending, will that be solo or with the rest of GirlSpice?
Yep! Me and all of GirlSpice will be there to see all the fresh talent that's out there at the moment, we've all been locked in the studio for a long, long time working on this record, so it feels like we've all kinda missed out on who's hot and who's not at the moment. (Laughs) But I'm sure it'll be a great show, I look forward to seeing everyone.

You may be a little behind on everything as you said, but who do you listen to on a regular basis?
I listen to a lot of stuff, and it really shocks people when I tell them who I listen to because they're like "But you're in a girl band? You really listen to this stuff?" and it's funny because I never really listen to pop music when I'm listening to something on my iPod or whatever. Reported Failure, Dead Roses and Suburban Sunrise are my main bands at the moment to be honest.

There were some very public tweets you and Ryan Ross Hernandez sent each other yesterday, what do you currently make of the whole situation?
You know, it wasn't until we started tweeting each other that I realised how bad the situation was, we really do know very little about each other, and that scared me a lot! I'd spent months with a guy for us to talk about pretty much damn nothing, it's as if we were only there for each other sexually, you know? (Laughs) But it's true, really true... that's the sad thing about it. I'd just like to get to know him this time and just talk through our past, I think we rushed into everything last time and that's definitely the wrong way to go about things.

So you're going to meet up as you and Ryan planned when he comes to London, are you nervous?
I'm not nervous... I'm more excited than anything because it feels like I haven't seen him in years, its been a while you could say, so to just sit down and talk is what I'm looking forward to. I won't lie, I've missed him a lot... and it wasn't until yesterday that I realised it. I wanted to tell myself that I didn't miss him though and that I'm fine. (Sighs) I don't allow myself to feel much these days, I just force myself to forget about it and focus on other stuff like work.

What do you mean when you say you don't allow yourself to feel?
I'm really emotional and when I care about someone, I'm really passionate about them and I feel like I wanna be around them all the time... but I've had situations in the past where... you know, my ex-boyfriend Jamie? It felt like everything was fine one minute and then the next it's like he just cut off all communication we had and I haven't seen him since, and it's like... (She takes a minute and lets out a deep breath, wiping a tear away) Not that I still have feelings for him or anything like that, because I think the way I've been treated is in no way acceptable, and that hurts a lot, you know? To know that someone could do that very same thing again hurts a lot, I guess you could say my trust has been battered quite a bit, I-I... I don't know, that's what it feels like.

Would you say it's hard for you then when it comes to relationships?
Definitely, sometimes I feel like it's not fair on the other person, and so I distance myself to try and force my trust issues to stop; and that isn't good. I'm working on that one. It takes time to heal from stuff like that, but I think I'm getting there. I'd like to believe I'm strong in that sense, and that I won't let one guy break me down, that's what I just keep telling myself.

So what is it that you want?
What I want? Sometimes it feels like I don't know what I want... I want a lot of things I guess, I think at the moment I just feel lonely, there's a feeling of emptiness that I have. I mean, I don't like to complain and sit here and tell the world that I have the worst life, because it's far from that. And it feels like I am complaining a lot by the way, so ignore what I just said actually. (Smiles) I just want a trustworthy person in my life, and I want to make more of an impact in music. So much to do, so little time, right?

Part 3 coming soon

Ryan Ross Hernandez: "I feel that these sort of personal interviews are either too tmi or don't defer from the person the public already knows. I think this interview certainly has a well balance to it, and gives an insight into Nadia that many didn't know of before. Also, if I ever end up breaking her heart, all the GirlSpice fans can hunt me down now."
