New comer Cassie Valentine sits down with Essence Magazine to do her very first interview. In this short interview she talks about her musical influences, career, upcoming projects, and more. Interviewer: Hello Cassie, how are you?Cassie: I’m great and very excited to be here today.Interviewer: (smiles) I’m honored to have you here. Cassie: (smiles) Thanks. Interviewer: You’ve been out for a month now, working with and seeing some of the greatest artists in the industry today. Who are some of your musical influences? Cassie: I have a lot so I’m only going to name my top five favorites. Alicia Lena, Tisha Jackson, Hannah Beth, Giselle, and Glamazon. Interviewer: How big do you expect to get? Cassie: I’m not expecting to become that big. Being well known is not that important to me. I just want to sing and write music. That’s all that matters to me. Interviewer: Are you seeing or dating anyone? Cassie: I’ve been too busy to really think about dating right now. I’m just working on my music but if the right person happens to come a long then that would be great. I would love to find someone but it has to be someone that can understand me and be everything that I want and need in a guy. In my past experiences, I haven’t had much luck in finding the right one. Interviewer: Your debut album was recently released. Why did you choose 'Pink Romance' as your album title? Cassie: Yes, it’s doing quite well so far. (laughs) It’s actually a long story to how the happened but to sum it all up I just wanted a title that would show people that this would be a album that shows off my softer side. Interviewer: I bought a copy and I must say it’s a great album. What was the concept behind 'Pink Romance'? Cassie: Thanks, I’m glad you liked it. I wanted my first album to tell who I am as a person and not as an artist. What better way to do that then to talk about my personal relationships and my friends’ relationships as well. Interviewer: Who would you like to work with the most? Cassie: I would love to work with Hannah Beth and Giselle. There such amazing people and they have great voices. Interviewer: Who inspires you? Cassie: My mom. She has always been there for me since I was young. She’s the one that encourages me to be the best I can be. I love her for that. Interviewer: Where do you get your themes for your songs? Cassie: I just write what’s in my heart or what’s on my mind. Interviewer: Why did you become a singer? Cassie: I love writing and singing music, and to be able to share it with people makes me happy. Interviewer: What type of music do you listen to? Cassie: Everything. I’m open to all types of music. Interviewer: What are you working on right now? Cassie: I’m actually doing a lot. I’m working on videos for “I love You Remix” and “Freaky In the A.M.” My birthday bash is coming up really soon, can’t wait for that. I’ll be performing at the Field Trip Festival and a few days after that I’ll be going on tour. Interviewer: Wow, you certainly have a lot going on. Could you tell me more about you birthday bash? Cassie: It’ll be on June 5, 2011, and I’ll be turning 21. It’s a special event for my fans, out of appreciation for them supporting my music. I’ll be hosting and performing. To top it off I have special guests that will be performing too: Victoria Black, Hannah Beth, Giselle, Hayden, Gears of Bremen, Tisha Jackson and Isabel. Interviewer: Sounds like a great party and happy early birthday Cassie. You made your first debut live performance at the Chaos Awards II. What was that like? Cassie: Thanks. I plan on having lots of fun that night and I’m very grateful that each artist could take time out of their busy schedules to come perform at my party. Performing at the Chaos Awards II was nerve racking and exciting at the same time. I was a little nervous because I didn’t want to mess up but once I got up there on that stage in front of all those fans, my butterflies went away. Everything just came natural after that and it felt like I’ve been performing my whole life. Interviewer: The Field Trip Festival will be your next live performance, are you ready? Cassie: Yes, I’m very excited. I love performing live in front of lots of fans. I’m sure that everyone will enjoy my performance because I have something amazing in store. Interviewer: I’m sure you’ll be great and I can’t wait to see your performance. You stated that you’ll be going on tour right after the Field Trip Festival. Cassie: Yes, it’s called the “Pink Romance Tour”. It’s a very short tour and it’s all to promote my debut album “Pink Romance”. Interviewer: Why such a short tour? Cassie: I’ve broken this tour into two parts. The first part will start in June all the way up until July. The second party will start late August all the way up until late September or October. Interviewer: What was the reason why you’ve broken up this tour into two parts? Cassie: Well I’m going to be performing at TA4 in August. I made the commitment way before I was to start my tour so I wanted to make sure I could be there. Interviewer: Not only are you a singer, but you’re also a model and actress. I’ve heard that you have a horror movie that you are working on, that will be released this summer. Is this true? Cassie: Yes, It’s called “Blood Red” and hopefully it will be released this summer. I’m praying that it does because I want my fans to see all that I’m capable of doing. Interviewer: There’s also talk about you starting your own clothing line and opening up your own clothing store. Is that true as well? Cassie: Yup, my clothing line is called “ThickMisses” and the store will be called “Pink Paradise. It’s something I’ve been wanting to do way before I came into the music industry. Everything is still in the planning process right now. I’ve haven’t had much time to work on it since I’ve been so busy with my music. So at the most I probably won’t get started with these projects until late next year. Interviewer: Great. Are you planning on releasing more singles from your album? Have you thought of what your second album will be like? Cassie: I’m planning on releasing my third single soon. I’m thinking about releasing “Wasting My Tears” as the third single but I’m not quite sure yet. My label and I are constantly debating about which singles I should release. I’m possibly thinking about releasing two more singles from the album and releasing some singles that won’t be on this album or the next one. For my second album I’m planning on making it different from my first one. I want it to be fun and crazy. Interviewer: (smiles) It was great having you here today and good luck with your career. Cassie: (smiles) Thanks and I enjoyed this interview as well. Edited by user 04 June 2011 07:14:39(UTC)
