Mana Gunray Serpentine profile

MONGOLBORD SURFINGTURD Newsletter 5

I know I always say this, but it's another exciting newsletter from Mongolbord Surfingurd, with two "supa-fresh" new records for your enjoyment.

First up, it's Avuncular Orbital Ape, yet-another project from Lobedoctor MD member Krazee Kool Kongdonkey aka. Krazee Unkool Serial Rappist aka. Terrence Greyes. It's a limited edition split EP with himself, with Ultros Champion Frogpuncher vocalist Gael Hernandez, and a contribution from the mastermind of our second release...

Amarok is a brand new recording project led by Cuban composer Alejandro Mesa, and featuring members of two of our other great artists Lord High Empruss Celia the Fuckin' Lamp and The Only Significant Eyeball. With a pedigree like that, this project has a lot to live up to, and believe me when I say that it does. It's a small ensemble score for electroacoustic instruments.

We also hope to have a nice profile soon on Plague Techtonics, a band much older than this label.

Until then, retaining Harvey Birdman,
Quentin Uderick Iain Phong

A new EP from Lobedoctor MD's resident hip-hop noise mangler and tape manipulator. Containing crunched up beats, echoplexed bleeps and broken phonograph field recordings. This release uses a variety of audio sources recorded in uniquely treated environments. This is yet another left-field addition to a growing stable of Krazee [un]Kool projects, focussing on multiple cut and stitched sound-sources.

Also featured throughout are elements of a cut-up recording of cut-up poetry by Gael Hernandez of Ultros Champion Frogpuncher fame. On the final track, our newest friend Alejandro Mesa appears providing harmonium recordings. The album was designed to fit the traditional vinyl split EP format, but both sides are Avuncular Orbital Ape.

500 copies each on vinyl and single-sleeve CD. Vinyl colours are lucky-dip, 400 in deep red, 100 speckled white.

The first album by a new recording project, featuring members of Lord High Empruss Celia the Fuckin' Lamp and The Only Significant Eyeball, Anosmian Flowershawl journeys into a truly experimental region. This music is largely atemporal, performed rubato. Taking cues from the work of Morton Feldman and La Monte Young, this recording focuses on long-tones, drones and pedal-points.

The group's musical director is Alejandro Mesa, a Cuban-born composer, formerly resident in the Northwestern Territories, who performs on harmonium, dulcimer and lead voice on this recording. The manifesto for this project states that each composition should be adaptable for different instrumentation and varying tempo.

Anosmian Flowershawl focuses on aspects of myth, ritual and oral tradition through the medium of acoustic and electonic instrumentation.

2xLP edition features several thematic inserts and portions of the score, first 1000 on blue marble. CD digipack.

John-I'd like to check out Amorak. I want to have some tonal expirimentation on our next album.

OOC-We need more stuff like this on here. Adds vareity. I was eventually going to have The Band progress into a semi avant-guard post-rock band.
My Characters-
John York-Guitarist/Multi-Instrumentalist-Genres-Alt Rock/Post-Punk, heavily interested in the Avant-Guard-Face Claim-Graham Coxon- Is Currently-Screwing around

OOC: Out of all those track titles, I'm most proud of is either "Felling Antimony Towers" or "Lo I Lay Low Where Owls Scowl and Know Naught But Gnawed My Eyes". Since there's no actual music to any of this, the titles have to kind of reinforce the idea of what it might sound like. Though probably people who don't know the reference points I'm hitting won't pick up on that stuff.
