Influences: Aaron Marks, Ed Sheeran, WileySamuel Griffin was born on the 28th of Februaruy 1992, making him 19 years old now; in Halifax, West Yorkshire, UK. He is the youngest of three children, having two older sisters - Lily (three years older than him) and Rose (two years older than him). About a month after Sammy's second birthday, his family moved down south because his father had got a job in London City. This meant that his father was now getting a lot larger wages, meaning that the Griffin family's lives were about to get a lot easier.
Because Sammy had two older sisters, he was brought up around people constantly singing - this rubbed off on him and he spent most of his time singing at the top of his voice around the house. His older sister Rose was jealous of his voice and would regularly put him down; so while many people would tell him how his voice was fantastic, he would always have that nagging thought in his mind that he wasn't - because he trusted his sister.
The doubts kept mounting in his mind and by the time he was 12, he tried to refrain from singing around Rose. Instead he started playing guitar. It turns out that Sammy was one of those people who can just do anything musically - any instrument he has picked up seems to be playable to him. He doesn't like any instrument other than the guitar though, because it is just an easy way to relax - with your guitar on you lap.
At Sammy's grandmother's 70th birthday party, his mum asked him to give her a little performance. So he pulled out his guitar and played her a lovely little bit on the guitar. He got about half way through and she stopped him; he had never really liked his grandmother and he was sure that she had never really liked him, so when she told him that whenever she had heard him singing around his house it made her feel warm inside, Sammy suddenly realised that maybe he was good at singing. He sang her a little song with his guitar and from then on made music his number one priority in life.
At the age of 17, he moved into a friend's house who lived in the centre of London. This was so it was easier for him to get around and do the club circuit in London. Sammy started doing gigs around London, with a fanbase steadily building. He started up a facebook 'Like', which slowly started to gather more and more likes, and eventually worked up to the release of an EP.
The first EP he released -
Bad Blood EP - contains three tracks and are just a few tracks that he put together so that his fans had something to listen to without having to pay to go and see Sammy perform all of the time. It was released on September 23rd 2010, when Sammy was already 18. It also lead onto the release of a second EP a couple of weeks before his 19th birthday,
The Red One EP - which contains 4 full tracks as well as two demo tracks.
Sammy has gradually built his fanbase up and now has over 5,000 likes on his facebook page after over a year of doing the London club circuit. On June 11th he did his first sell out show, with 320 people coming to see him live. He is working on a third EP, from which he can lead onto an album.
