Reported Failure's show today in Beverly Hills was delayed by about 42 minutes. Guitarist Vin Peters told the fans that "There was a problem with the bus that held us up for a while,". Just after the show he released the following statement: Quote:Earlier today we experienced a bump in the road when our tour bus was broken into while we were out at dinner. The only thing stolen was my songbook and my sense of security. I am quite upset to have lost the music and lyrics to some songs I had been preparing. I am now forced to remember what I can of them. I suspect that the thief is either someone who has greatly overestimated our fame and thinks they can make money by selling my songbook. If so the joke is on them. Or it could be a super-fan. Despite this speed bump things will go on normally. The theft comes a day after Reported Failure frontman Billie Beckett did an interview in which, when asked if Reported Failure had plans for a new album yet, he said "All I'll say is that the concept is a huge step forward, and once we start writing the songs for it, I think the music will also be a big step forward". This has led to speculation among the rock community that the thief is either a super-fan who wanted to see the music and lyrics to enjoy it, or quite possibly someone who wishes to steal Reported Failure's music in order release it themselves. While Beckett said that no songs had been written yet, he in the past stated "I didn't even know Vin had written this song, or was writing new material, and then he showed it to me and it was genius," referring to the song 'Short' which became one of the band's more successful singles. Many band's worst nightmare would be having an unfinished product released to the public for judgement. This story is still breaking, and therefor Peters hasn't had time to comment on whether or not any songs in the notebook were meant to be on the next album. Whether or not we'll find leaked Reported Failure lyrics in a week, or in a few months Vin Peters will find that some other artist has released a song that he wrote remains to be seen. At the moment the only assumption that can be made is that Vin will lose some sleep over either worrying about this or trying to remember what he had written in his songbook. |

Today the plot thickened as lyrics were posted online at a music news blog that allegedly are from new Reported Failure songs. Earlier this morning Vin Peters released the following statement to the press. Quote:The song that was leaked was written by me. I am troubled by this because it is an unfinished product. Whether or not it will ever be released has yet to be seen. It was written with the intention of being released on the next album, but anything could happen between now and when we actually sit down to record and seriously write the album. |
