RIOT! IN THE BOULEVARD
The crowd cheer as Riot! In The Boulevard makes their way out onstage, the spotlights of the stage shine down towards the band standing centre stage, as the band assemble to their designated positions onstage, Amy takes hold of the microphone and shouts, “GOTHENBURG, HOW YOU DOING TONIGHT!!!” she pauses briefly before continuing, “We’re Riot! In The Boulevard from Las Vegas and we’re here for your entertainment.” She pauses briefly again as the crowd cheers and the band begins to play the opening to the first song, “This is for anyone that‘s ever felt like they don‘t belong, this is for All The Non Believers” the crowd erupts into cheers as the intro gets louder and Amy starts to jump up and down as she begins to sing the opening lines to the song.
“If You’ve Got Nothing Nothing Worth Fighting For Then Pick Up Your Things And I’ll Show You The Door
But Don’t Ever Worry, I’ll Still Be Around I’ll Come Pick You Up When You Fall Down And Then I’ll Look Into Your Eyes And There’s One Thing I’ll Say”
She pauses briefly and looks out at the crowd, Justin Mullen walks over towards Amy near the front of the stage and stands beside her, She decides to change the lyrics a little before continuing to jump up and down and singing.
“Don’t Ever Lose Hope Don’t Ever Worry Don’t Ever Lose Hope We’ll Find Each Other Again SOMEDAY!!!
So Will You Still Believe In Us So Long As I Don’t Make A Fuss Will You Still Believe In Me If I Promise To Set You Free
Because We Are … GOTHENBURG!!! We Are … All The Non Believers We Are … Just Losers And Leavers Lovers And Breeders We Are … All The Non Believers”
The crowd cheer frantically and continue to sing along with Amy as she moves to the very edge of the stage, she raises out her hand towards the crowd in the front row, they reach out towards Amy and begin screaming. Amy then makes her way back over to the centre of the stage and puts the microphone back in the stand, the music slows down and eventually ends. The crowd goes silent as Amy shouts into the microphone, “Gothenburg!!! I want you to scream so loud that everyone in America can hear.” She pauses briefly before continuing, “This is called All Is Fair In Love And War.” The band begin the intro to the song as the crowd cheers along, Amy moves closer to the microphone again and begins singing.
“People Get Your Gas Masks On And Barricade The Doors Please Don’t Pray To God Tonight Because Religion Causes War
Take A Look Around This Wasteland That You Once Called Your Home Face Your Fears, Strap In Tight This Is Called A War”
She pauses briefly and gestures to the crowd to be silent, “I’m gonna need absolute silence right now and on the count of three, I want you all to sing All Is Fair In Love And War, Let The Bodies Hit The Floor.” She steps back from the edge of the stage, putting her finger on her lips before she begins counting, “1, 2, 3 … GO!!!” She jumps forward and sings along with the crowd,
“All Is Fair In Love And War, Let The Bodies Hit The Floor All Is Fair In Love And War, Let The Bodies Hit The Floor With People Dying Everyday All We Do Is Look Away
So What Ever Happened To Love What Ever Happened To Faith What Ever Happened To Beauty What Ever Happened To Grace”
Amy continues to sing along with the crowd, moving back and forth across the stage often standing right next to guitarist Justin Mullen as they share the microphone for the more harmonic moments of the song As she continues to sing the song the band are clearly giving the crowd the kind of entertainment they expected. The song comes to an end and shouts “Thank You” before heading over to the side of the stage, she leaves the stage briefly and quickly returns with an acoustic guitar and a bottle of water. She moves two stools to the centre of the stage and brings the microphone closer to her, She sits with Justin who has also switched to an acoustic guitar, Amy takes a drink and then begins to talk to the crowd. “So we like to change things up a little, so this is something we’ve not really done yet. So this next song is called, Kiss Goodbye To The Harvest Moon.” She begins to play the guitar and sing the opening lines to the song.
“Watch Your Step Now, Kid … It’s All In Vein You Can Try Your Best … But Your Gonna Go Insane You Are The Winner … And Now It Seems Your Not The Sinner … The Stuff Of Dreams
The Pathway To Your Life … Has All Potential The World Needs All Walks Of Life … Now It’s Essential You Are The Winner … And Now It Seems Your Not The Sinner … The Stuff Of Dreams
You Will, You Will, You Will Kiss Goodbye To The Harvest Moon With A Smile On Your Face … I’ll See You Soon Just Kiss Goodbye To The Harvest Moon.”
The crowd are quiet and peaceful for the first time in the bands performance, prefer to stay quiet during the softness of the song, it provides and almost sombre atmosphere as the acoustic version seems to be the perfect mirror against the usual high energy anthemic rock that the band are now known for. As the song ends, they quickly move into the next song which continue’s the acoustic feel but gives an even more emotional effect, almost bringing some of the crowd to tears. Amy takes a deep breath before she starts singing the intro to A Moment, An Hour, A Lifetime.
“I’m Playing This Game Called Love And It’s Messing With My Heart I’ll Fight My Instincts, Fight My Feelings But I’m Just Falling Apart
I’ll Close My Eyes And Let My Mind Run Free Because Holding You Is Where I Long To Be I’m Trying To Stay Calm And Fight What I Feel But This Space In My Heart, Won’t Seem To Heal
So I’ll Try To Move On And Pretend Things Are Fine But I Know What I Feel, You Should Be Mine So Tell Me How Your Feeling, Is It The Same And If I Get Hurt, Your Not To Blame”
The music begins to increase in pace as the song gets closer to the chorus, the crowd are swaying from side to side as Amy provides the beauty with this song.
“So If It Takes A Moment To Like And An Hour To Love A Lifetime To Forget I Guess It’s Easier To Regret
And I’ll Walk These Streets In The Pitch Black Dark Hoping To See You Someday, To Re-Ignite This Spark I’ll Wonder And Wonder, If We’ll Ever Get To Meet Until That Day Comes, My Heart Will Learn To Beat
So If It Takes A Moment To Like And An Hour To Love A Lifetime To Forget I Guess It’s Easier To Regret”
The song draws to a close and Amy quickly hands the acoustic guitar to a roadie at the side of the stage, she walks back out onto the stage again and adjusts the microphone, she begins talking into the mic to introduce the next song. “I hope you all enjoyed those songs. But now we’re gonna go back to what we do best. We’ve got two more songs left so I wanna hear this place erupt. This is All The Stars And Boulevards.” Amy begins jumping up and down then she starts to sing.
“Sleeping On The Grass, Looking Up At The Moon Letting My Mind Wander Free Tonight Because We’ll Be Gone Soon So Please Sit Beside Me And Sing Me A Song Underneath The Stars I’ll Give You The Backing Vocals, You Can Play Guitar
A Loveletter Unopened, Is A Loveletter Unwritten It’s Not Vampire’s And Werewolf’s, I Refuse To Be Bitten So With A Heart Of Stone, I Will Soon Die Will I Be Buried In The Ground, Or An Angel In The Sky
I’ve Never Felt Love And I Never Want To Forget Confessing Your Deepest Emotions That’s Not What I Ask From You So Find Someone With A Heart Of Gold Find Someone To Turn To”
Amy starts running across the stage from side to side, once she moves back into the centre of the stage, she starts jumping up and down, she then continues to sing.
“So Look Into Your Soul, You’ll See What’s On The Cards And For One Night Only, We’ll Look Up To All The Stars And Boulevards All The Stars And Boulevards
Some Say Love Can Conquer All But It Seems To Set You Up To Fall So Forgive Me For Being Heartless To You But It’s For Your Own Good, At Least I’m Being True
I’m Gonna Be Leaving Home Tomorrow So Forget About Me, Forget About Your Sorrow I’ll Kiss You Once, Before I Go But After That, It Is No More”
The crowd then start to sing along with Amy as she ends the song with the lyrics from the chorus. She steps forward and jumps into the air as the band finish playing the song. As she lands on her feet she stretches her arms out to her side as wide as she can reach. She stands centre stage and cue’s the band to begin the final song of their set. As the music begins she starts to sing the intro to the bands huge number 2 hit, Sweet Little Fantasy’s.
““She Wears Her Hair Down Low She Walks The Streets Once More She Writes Up Fairytales In Her Head It’s Tragic, Because They Always End Up Dead
They Said Her Face Could Launch A Thousand Ships The Guys Were, Desperate To Kiss Her Red Lips Instead She Walks The Streets, Just Looking For Tips Show Some Skin Once More, And We’ll Call It Quits.”
She briefly steps back and shouts into the microphone, “GOTHENBURG, I WANNA HEAR YOU SCREAM!!!” before continuing to sing the song, the crowd sing along to the chorus with Amy and lead guitarist Justin Mullen.
““Sweet Little Fantasy’s Are Coming Away With Me Sweet Little Fantasy’s Are Coming Away With Me
She’s Got … Sweet Little Fantasy’s Coming Away With Me Sweet Little Fantasy’s Coming Away With Me”
As the song comes to an end, Amy waits for the final drum beat before jumping into the air making a star shape and instead of landing on her feet, she lands on her knees and looks out at the crowd. The music stops and Amy stands on top of one of the large amps. She raises her arms out and waits for the band to stand beside her, they all take a bow and Amy thanks the crowd before leaving the stage with the rest of the band. The crowd continue to cheer loudly until the next band comes out onstage. Setlist:1. All The Non Believers 2. All Is Fair In Love And War 3. Kiss Goodbye To The Harvest Moon 4.
