She made one song. The lyrics were OK, but nonsensical in a way that make you wonder if it's actually real; a generic pop song but for the chorus, starting with the seemingly random "I can see the veins inside my eyes" (which co-writer Bikki Hetestein claims was the first line she wrote, she could see the veins in her eyes and thought, yes, that's a good line for a song - only Bikki). The vocals weren't bad, but clearly autotuned. The drums, the only other instrument in the song .... if you've never played drums before, bang on a tin can with a couple of pencils and you'll sound better than Mikki's natural drumming, but of course there was autotune here as well.
The song, "Love Of My Life", became more viral than Lukey Comatose's syphilis was, and was an instant hit. You hated it so much that you complained about it on Twitter and Facebook, your friends went to see, they complained, friends of friends spread it even further - you know how it works. Something really hated becomes something really popular, any publicity is good publicity.
Misty Moo, 31, was never the musical talent behind Firecracker 47. The guys play that role - Mikki has always been the promo girl, the sexy one. Jimmy Bishop explains. "When we signed F47, we knew that they had talent. I would say that James is the second most talented Dark Blue Musician, Nick from Moronic Changeling being first. And then there's Joshy, child star, already had a #1 single by the time he was 15, now he was on our doorstep five years later, with that angelic unbroken voice still intact. Roxy, the generic one, every band's got one - and Mikki. When you see Mikki drumming, your ears switch off, you just want to look at her."
Mikki has since entered the world of music production, acted major roles in two movies, had multiple TV appearances and most recently, alongside Roxy, put away the drumkit to get behind DJ decks - while Roxy may have found her calling, Mikki proves as talented here as she does on the drums. "Mikki's talent is being Mikki," Jimmy continues. "She is living, breathing promotion."
So what do you think? Is Mikki's career over already, or has it just begun? Is the choice to continue a good one?
