Release Date: July 10th, 2011 [Radio/Digital Outlets] Genre: Indie, Indie Pop Elements Of: Jazz-Pop Producers: Ryan Ross Hernandez Recorded: 2011 Label: Shooting Star Records Writers: Michelle Green, Michael Green Looking over the accolades and music of 2010 and some of 2010, one may have to wonder, what hasn't Michelle Green done? In 2010 we saw her release her debut album the Voice Of Me, which produced 3 singles, and 2 of them reaching number 1, and the other at number two.She has also performed live with Legendary band, The Bards, not to mention recording a song with them and was then named the Queen of Indie Pop by The Sound Magazine. These statics can only make Michelle look like one of the most successful females in the business right now. But with a resume like Michelle's, you'd expect a talentless pop tart who got mainstream appeal by money, and sex but that doesn't pertain to Green. Behind all the success is the amazing voice of Michelle that is very powerful and captivating that has gotten her a standing ovation at the 21st IMA's and prior to that, at the Hall Of Fame Awards. But just before hearing about her new and leading single, we cant help to feed your appetite for Michelle Green, and what she has done. Just being in the music industry for a little over a year, she has released a massively successful and critically acclaimed debut album entitled The Voice Of Me which went platinum in the U.S, and nearly triple platinum certification in the U.K! The vocal powerhouse also garnered 2 #1 hits out of 3 releases with one out of the 3 number 1's peaking at #2 on the top 20 chart and just two months ago Green won two awards at the 2011 Hall Of Fame Awards, one for best single with her huge hit 'Red Symphony and another for Breakthrough Artist. One more surprise that keeps sweeping people off of their feet? She's only 16.
Now onto another topic of super interest, her new music. After releasing her dark and emotion filled Dance With Danger promo single, Michelle Green seemed to have gone on mute and from the looks of it she was creating music and when she confirmed a collaboration with Ryan Ross Hernandez you cant help but quiver in excitement.
When you think of Michelle Green and Ryan Ross Hernandez, you cannot help but think this is a match made in heaven, you cannot help but to think "gosh, this is what music needs". And quite frankly listeners, this is what you GOT. You Just Lost Your Lover, is the leading single off of Michelle Green's highly anticipated sophomore album entitled 'Exiled'. The song tells a story of a female and a unfaithful man who drives the girl to losing her cool and walking out on the man but when she's gone, she realizes how amazing life could really be and that a man doesn't make up a life for you, but you make up your own. Michelle sings joyously about the unfaithful boy and how after shes gone she could do whatever she wants. Are mothers looking for a role model for their daughters and forgot about Michelle Green? Well shes back! Its great to see Michelle Green singing happy again after her sad and ballad influenced Dance With Danger, which most fans weren't use to her doing.
The song features a strong indie core, not to mention amazing guitar chords by Ryan Ross Hernandez with that Jazz influenced beat during the chorus. One thing that we can point out in the song is once again how well Michelle's voice sounds. Michelle is known to be a vocal belter, screaming her vocals away in certain songs and with this particular song, Green shows control with her voice, which is most notable, making her voice sound even stronger (even for the 8 second note during the bridge). Michelle isn't just screaming away over the bass line, her voice shows maturity and growth proving either Michelle has grown as a vocalist and/or hinting Ryan Ross Hernandez has taught her well on how to maneuver her voice, specially in a high range and medium to fast Indie Jam like this one. Whether he did or didn't, this might be Michelle's best vocal number.
Much like most of Michelle's music, You Just Lost Your Lover maintains that strong, captivating, heart pulling voice yet gives us a jubilant and pleasant feeling which we saw in her first single 'Fifteen' and then again with Red Symphony. But Michelle separates herself from her former singles and brings us to new highs in this perfect summer release that could sit comfortably on contemporary radio and on mainstream radio as well, something that Ryan Ross Hernandez and Green have in common with their music.
So after months and months of anticipating this first single, Michelle finally delivers us a strong and agile summer tune that can most definitely and once again separate Michelle from much of the industries females. With this singles 'role modeling' message, Ryan Ross Hernandez's strong production and guitar work, Michelle's astounding vocals and maturing lyrics, calls for a potential smash like this one, and from the looks of things, Michelle has easily re-claimed her crown as Queen of Indie Pop.
Do you agree? The song hits radio & Digital outlets THIS SUNDAY!Song can be compared to
