BIOGRAPHY
Kia Elise Johnson was born on 17th December 1988 in London, England. Her parents, Raymond and Wewe Johnson moved to Glasgow when Kia was just 2 years old. Kia and her two sisters, Ashley & Yolande grew up there and now speak with a Scottish accent.
The girls father owned a small R&B/Soul record label called "RayRay Records". Kia, Yolande and Ashley grew up surrounded by music and often wrote their own songs (which Kia now says that she is embarassed by because they were so cheesy). When Kia was 7, her eldest sister Ashley (14 at the time) signed with her father's label and recorded an album but the label sadly went bust before it was released. Raymond promised his girls that they will make it into the music industry one day, one way or another.
When she turned 10, her father sadly passed away due to a long 7 year battle with cancer. The 3 sisters the formed a group called "Ray Of Light", the "Ray" part was a reference to their fathers name. The girls wanted to become famous and successful to make their fathers wish come true. However, things did not go smoothly as their mother, Wewe, became house bound and didn't want to leave the home as she couldn't bare to be away from the memories of her husband for one second. Also, Ashley couldn't cope and decided to move away from her family and started a new life with her boyfriend. She still hasn't seen or spoke to her family since this day.
In 2002 Kia (now 13) and Yolande (15) replaced Ashley with their cousin, Harmony. The girls played around community centres and at parties singing motown classics. The girls caught the attention of record label owner, Jim Kessler, who stated that the girls were like "mini-Supremes" and he wasn't the only one who thought this. At the day of the meeting which decided if Jim was going to sign the girls, his wife and co-owner of the label stated "If you sign with us we think we could label you as "The Mini-Supremes" and we want to put Yolande at the front of the band and Kia and Harmony can do back-up and ad-libs". This angered Kia, Harmony, Ivan & Rose (Harmony's parents) and Wewe, who left the house to go to this meeting for the first time in 3 years . Yolande didn't have a problem with this and it drove a wedge between the 3 girls, causing Yolande to leave the group.
Kia (being only 13 and the last original member) and Harmony added best friend, Carmen Silva to the group. Carmen only had a brief 8 month stint with the group before defecting from "Ray Of Light". Harmony and Kia then continued as a duo.
In 2008, after spending 6 years as a duo, "Ray Of Light" split up as they thought it was time to try something different. Harmony is currently writing material for her debut album which will be a gospel album. Meanwhile, Kia is working as a script-writer and looking for a record deal.
Now Kia has written over 30 songs and is hoping that after all of these years of hard work she finally makes it in the world of music. After many up's and down's, smile's and frown's, Kia is ready to conquer the world and nothing is going to hold her back this time.

The Video
During the 11 second intro with the gunshot and the heavy breathing, Kia is seen walking towards the camera with a blank emotionless face. When the gunshot is heard, she winces her face a little then looks at the camera again. As she starts to sing the first verse, rain falls over her but she continues to stand and still sings on. However, a look of sadness is now on her face.
We then see Kia sitting in the train station singing to herself during the pre-chorus. No one seems to notice her singing and they walk on by. She then walks into the toilets as the chorus begins, she looks in the mirror and sings to herself. Whilst singing, she takes off her make up and puts her hair up in a ponytail. She then takes out a grey hoody from her bag and puts it on. Kia then walks slowly walks out into the station again and continues to do so as the instrumental before verse 2 plays.
During verse 2 and the pre-chorus, she is seen behind glass with red and pink ribbons behind her. This resembles some sort of imprisonment and Kia is constantly clawing at the ribbons and glass and tries to escape. She is wearing the same grey hooded top from the previous verse. Lots of people are on the other side of the glass taunting her.
Then during the chorus, middle 8, and second last chorus; Kia is slowly taking off the hooded top and covers her body with the ribbons whilst changing clothes. Everyone on the other side of the glass is in shock as she strips and gives a cheeky wink to one of the elderly gentlemen observers. Then, after letting her hair back down and putting on a dark red high fashion leotard, she smashes the glass and runs out of the prison.
During the last chorus, she is seen as she was at the start of the video; in an alleyway being rained down on. She is also crying during the chorus. As she sings the final line, she closes her eyes and walks backwards. She is then consumed by the rain and mist.
