PART 2 You posted a song on your website called "At First Sight" which features Alicia Lena. Throughout the song you talk about a great night out with your friend. What is your night out routine? I have a glass of wine at home, blast some girly songs on the cd player and make myself feel special. I wear my favourite clothes and best shoes. I try to feel good about myself because if I don't then you'll just end up having a crappy night.
Are you a party girl or a reserved lady?
Errrrmmmm.....I dunno, I'd probably say kinda inbetween. I do enjoy myself and have a good time but I know my limit and when to stop unlike others. If I was to out of my skull, it would just be hell the next morning and if I just sat there sipping mineral water whilst everyone else was dancing on the floor, I'd seem like a kill-joy!
Now you are mixing with celebs of all kind, have you ever had a "celebrity fued" with anyone yet?
Ah, now we're talking! Whilst I was in a studio that I had booked, Victoria Black came in and was saying she had booked it and that we were intruding and wasting her creative time. I was like; "Girl, I'm sorry but we have the studio for at least another hour, I think you've just got the wrong time honey." but she just had a nasty attitude and was like "Who the hell are you anyway? You're not even a singer. you're just a wannabe!" Which really upset me. I have worked since I was 7 years old to get to where I am and I'm not a "wannabe", I actually work for this and push myself. So I just said; "Bitch I was trying to be nice and reason with you, now get your arse out of here before I mop the floor with you!"....Ms. Black then kindly left the premises.
Do you see yourelf as a style icon?
No, no, no. I was only discovered a few days ago, I don't think people see me as an icon already, unless they're crazy. Maybe in the future I could be one, you never know what the future holds.
Any fashion tips?
I have an amazing stylist, so she does all the fashion-y type stuff. I don't have a clue! When I'm at home I just wear track suit bottoms and a Homer Simpson T-Shirt. I'm no runway model.
We know about your childhood band, "Ray Of Light", and it's turbulant past. Tell us what the atmosphere was like?
It was great when we got along. I mean we were best friends, family and band mates all rolled into one. But after a few family issues things soured in the group, which sadly has drove apart me and my sisters. The first two line ups was very turbulant and we were always on edge. But line ups 3 and 4 were more relaxed and when we disbanded, we went out on a high.
How many line ups were there?
Four, Yes I know it is quite a lot for a band who never even got round to releasing one single or album! The line ups were
1. Me, Yolande, Ashley (2000-2001)
2. Me, Yolande, Harmony (2001- Early 2002)
3. Me, Carmen, Harmony (Early 2002 - Mid 2002)
4. Me and Harmony (Late 2002-2008)
What was your favourite line up?
Ah, that is hard to say. Because the members were close friends and family and I can't favourite any of them. But the best line up creative wise was the last 2.
Do you think fame will change you?
Well, things will change. I will have more money, I'll attend award shows and I'll be stopped in the streets. But Kia will never change, I am who I am. No one can change that, I stay true to myself and if I can't do that I am not worthy to be idolised.
Do you have a message for your fans?
Yes I do. I just want to say thanks for all your love and support you are all my lil' 'Ray Of Lights' shining over me and helping me every step of the way. I wouldn't even be doing this interview today if it wasn't for awesome people like you showing interest in me. I love you all! BIG KISSES!
