anyone else watching the new HBO series?
its based on one of my favorate series of books, and after seeing the first two episodes, all i can say is i am amazed by how faithfull it is to the books so far..

which i supose could be annoying if you've never read them as information is thrown at you from all over so quickly i can see it as being hard to digest and understand the world.... but as a fan allready its just.......perfect!!
I hate it when people see me at the supermarket and they are like:

Apparently it's excellent. One's father is a huge fan already. Upon watching the advert however, it really isn't my bag, so I doubt I'll see any of it. Another disappointing addition to Sky Atlantic from my point of view (not saying they shouldn't have put it on, just saying that for me, that channel has very little thus far.)

fair enough, i can see why at first glance it's not everones bag....

the thing about the books, and from what ive seen so far, the tv show is, that its not about the setting, or the mythology, swords etc etc its about the people and how they deal with the situations they find themselves in, how far they are willing to go to protect those they love, or what they pecive to be right and wrong.... and throw into that the whole war of the roses esaque situation they are all thrown into, and i find it a fantastic wonderfull thing!!

I am enjoying it a lot. I never read the books, but I've been saying for years that a great TV fantasy serial would be great. So far, there's really not been anything specifically supernatural, more of political manoeuvrings and a lengthy preamble to a power struggle.

I like it but I feel like every moment of Game of Thrones could be Preacher. Preacher would've made a wonderful series.

This show is fucking immense. Made me go out & get the books, & so I'm halfway into book 2 now. It's gripping stuff. TV show is remarkably true to the book too.

the show is insanly close to the books, which is what makes it so good for me....

ahhh clash of kings is immense..... Brienne of tarth rocks....

i love how in the later books, characters that you hated or thought were evil turn out to be your favorate people in the series....

for me its all about Jon Snow, Stannis Baratheon, Jaime and tyrion Lannister and Brienne of tarth...

So far, it's Snow, Arya & Tyrion for me. Especially Tyrion. Who somehow manages to be even cooler in the books than in the show, where he's pretty fucking great

Tyrion is possibly my favorate fictional character ever..... well joint first between him and Superior Glokta from the First law trilogy by joe Ambercrombie....

Arya just annoys me..... and the only reason i put up with Sansa's chapters is because of the hound....

Agree on Sansa, but I tend to think that Arya has just that bit of spunk to her. Very much her fathers daughter.

Hahaha. Yeah. I know what you mean. He almost makes a cliché of treating your favourites like shit.

It's great!

Yeah but lets be honest here. Tyrion, for all his swagger & wit, ain't exactly an angel. Right enough, he never actually *won't say what because it is a spoiler but Rince should guess what I mean* but he did kill *yeah* which is faaaaaaaaaaar worse.

At least *Yeah, OK, this is hard to talk about without spoilers* is no longer getting an easy ride of it since Margarey (don't think this is much of a spoiler is it? I don't think that character has appeared in the show yet) has taken that role. Good to see some comeuppance there. Eager to see the result of the trial. Except it'll be years until I get that result :(

ha.... god i hope its not another six years between books.... the wait between crows and dragons nearly killed me...

i never liked her, untill the HBO show cast her in a slightly different light... so i now have sympahy, if not a fondness.... but yeah, it will be a ver interesting trial... especialy with you know what now up and running...

with tryion... yeah he did that, but to be honest in his possition i'd have done exactly the same thing damnit.
and as for whats happening up on the wall now.... mwa!

also i think i have a new favorate character in Griff...

Is it any good? It's rather sneaked under the radar, hasn't it? I do like the idea of a game detailing the history of Westeros though

its ok..... its the 1,000 years before the current events, so you do get a lot of back story....
its like a wierd version of chess where you try and control towns, villages, mines and castles using envoys, spy's, assasins etc
