OOC: Possibly a bit long for one song, but I'm going for it lol Big Light Show - Promo Live Clip for new single - Atlanta, GA - 06/08/2011 Against a black screen, we hear the fading tones of a metal-sounding track, it sounds heavy but light-hearted in tone, a tone which is split by a bloodcurdling scream, and then a massive cheer and a thank you. As the camera fades from black, and comes into focus, we see Cassie Bitch standing at the front of the stage. Her hair is wet, and she looks tired. It's clear from the look of pure delight on her face, a look normally reserved for when someone other than herself and Kamikaze Kate is injured, that this has been a brilliant concert for Big Light Show so far. Cassie stays standing where she is as she addresses the crowd, staring some of them in the front row out with those famously beautiful, yet wildly dangerous eyes. She breathes heavily from exhaustion, and smiles wickedly at two or three over enthusiastic kids, screaming like enrage banshees in the front row. This might be a bit of a rhetorical question if you're one of these three down front...but are you guys having a good time? She's greeted by a loud cheer Nice! Haha, I'm glad to hear it! We've had a brutal time tonight Atlanta, you guys have been insane! It means the world to us that you'd come out early to see us. I know I get shown up as a total cunt all the time....and I love it (cheeky smile), but deep down, I love music, and I love that you guys appreciate us. Thank youLauren England walks up beside Cassie and puts a hand on her back as she speaks. Waiting for her to finish, Lauren also breathes heavily, before smiling and speaking. Wooo, just trying....trying to get my damn breath back. This place is warm, and you guys are awesome. Are you guys ready for SUBURBAN SUNRISE? The drummer plays a drum roll and crashes the cymbals furiously as the crowd vociferously cheer for the headline act, and Lauren looks at Cassie, raising her eyebrows in amazement. Alright! I'm glad to hear it! And those guys will be up next....get pumped for Sunrise alright! We might even come out there and watch with you guys. Except Cassie. Cos she's pregnant....Cassie interjects "And I don't like people"Haha, yeah, and she doesn't like people. She laughs to herself and jokingly pushes Cassie. Cassie steps down from the monitor and she and Lauren share a joke which isn't for public consumption apparently, as she covers the mic head with her palm. Lauren throws her head back laughing and the two chuckle for a few seconds at whatever the joke was, before Cassie brings her mic back to her face, and walks back to the front of the stage. So we only got the time for one more track. I'm sure some of you will be delighted by that though right? (she smiles as a few people in the back let out sarcastic cheers). It's cool, I've been where you are, waiting to see my favourite band...well not Suburban Sunrise....but you get the picture. Waiting to see my favourite band, and being forced to stand there and watch some support act I didn't like. But hey, we're all here now. Even if we can't all admit who the real headline band should be.She laughs at herself and takes a deep swig from a bottle of beer. She then looks at the crowd and points to her pregnant stomach. So what? Kate isn't here, she chuckles to herself again. Anyway, this is our last track. Can we see a pit? I'm sure you don't get many circle pits at a Sunrise gig but we can try right? Yeah! So who here has the demo that we just put out? I wanna kick this old school so let's see a show of hands.Cassie surveys the hand shooting up into the air, and nods her head before taking another swig from her bottle of beer and throwing it into the crowd. She watches where it goes and then laughs as she sees a guy three or four rows back rubbing his head. She cackles like a witch, to the extent that she can't even bring herself to introduce the last song. Lauren takes over. This last song is from that demo. It's our new single and it comes out tomorrow, so get out there and buy it. We would love to see how we fare against other bands and stuff in the charts next week. This is called "We all Voted....We Reckon You Should Wrestle the Bear"A surprisingly loud cheer erupts from mainly the middle section of the crowd as Alex Leuiso plays the slow, very ambient guitar picking section of the intro to the most well received song from the Big Light Show Demo. Cassie and Lauren stand side by side, trying to urge the crowd to clap along in time before Cassie leaps back and counts out loud.... 1.2.3.4....GOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!A heavy metalcore style riff kicks in and Cassie flails her hair as she headbangs in time. Lauren England merely stands at the front and pumps her fist, grinning openly at the pit which has opened up, surprisingly big considering this crowd isn't even here to see them. As the section of blast beat drumming which precedes the chorus takes over, strobe lights illuminate the building and make Cassie look as if she is head banging in slow motion. Similarly, the flailing mess of arms and legs that is the circle pit appears to be moving in a 1920s jumpy style, as people move seemingly without the need to walk, run, or in most cases, fall over. All of a sudden the music stops, replaced by another slow, but not as slow as before, guitar picking section. Cassie puts her arm around Lauren and leans in so that they can sing the opening line into the same mic, before Cassie completes the opening verse on her own, leaving Lauren to try and make the crowd cheer and outdo each other. The Sanctimony! Well that filled these ears tonight! Non righteous Cause! No Fucking Reason! There’s A Knife So Sharp! Held Against Your Neck! End You Forever! There’s A Knife So Sharp! Held Against Your Neck! End You Foreverrrrrrr! As the words "No fucking reason" are screamed, Cassie bolts across the stage, and leaps atop a speaker. She stands with one arm behind her back, high above the crowd as she screeches the final two line of the verse with a venom poisonous enough to kill 50 grown men in minutes. As the chorus starts, Lauren takes over the vocals, and Cassie pretends she's going to dive into the crowd, before laughing and pointing at her belly again. He showed us, Oh so he showed us, We’re so much lower when we hate. He showed us, (The Sanctimony!) Oh so he showed us, We’re so much lower when we hate. The crowd cheer for Lauren. Her voice has grown a lot since Cassie came aboard. No doubt a mixture of fear, new found confidence and a desire to not be kicked out of her own band. She nails the look of an emo singer to a tee...telling the tale of a doomed relationship with her eyes pressed tightly closed, and her side fringe shaking from side-to-side. She bows as the chorus finishes and Leuiso returns to playing the same slower section again. Cassie returns to centre stage and bumps Lauren out of the way with her ass, in a friendly manner, just in time to start her next screaming section. Your symbolic killers!Well the lies define your touch! It’s such a pressure, what we’ve got in!Oh What We’re Seein’! We could function so much better! We know preaching is everything! Now we sharpen knives! We will destroy you all!As they sing the last line of the second verse together, the girls sing into the same mic, face-to-face, so that it looks to anyone behind either of them that they're kissing. Cassie, without breaking the stance, just holds her middle finger up to the wolf-whistlers. He showed us, Oh so he showed us, We’re so much lower when we hate. He showed us, (The Sanctimony!) Oh so he showed us, We’re so much lower when we hate. The second rendition of this chorus picks up the pace considerably and Cassie bounces around the stage as Lauren continues to sing, now giving her head a slight bang in time to the music, and making her own vocal leap slightly. She is clearly really feeding off the energy, but the jump in the vocal causes Cassie to stop bouncing, just to shoot Lauren a weird look. He showed us, Oh so he showed us, We’re so much lower when we hate. He showed us, (The Sanctimony!) Oh so he showed us, We’re so much lower when we hate.
As the chorus finishes, the guitar plays one long, open strum across all seven strings, and is then replaced by a steady marching style beat on the bass drum, a lone instrument on the stage. Cassie and Alex walk to the front and clap their hands in time high above their head. She addresses the crowd herself. Alright. Lil Bitch here is gonna sing this next bit...the cool bridge. At the end of that I am going to scream the last line, and their is going to be a breakdown so heavy that anyone who has anything less than perfect bowels will actually shit. When that happens, I want to see that pit go absolutely fucking mental. Alright?Lauren stands with her mic pressed against her face, holding it with both hands and singing softly over the steady bass drum beat. Sit down in the dark Await that final spark We all sit down in the dark Await that final spark We All Sit Down In The DarkAND WE AWAIT THAT FINAL SPARK!
After Cassie's scream, the brutal breakdown ferociously launches a cacophony of guitar, bass, and mind-numbingly heavy drum beats around the venue. The pit, which had been violent before, is now an absolute mess. People are falling all over the place and then trying to help each other up. Serving only to make the problem worse. On stage, Cassie and Lauren survey the carnage, and Cassie high fives Lauren, before putting her arm around her shoulder and standing watching. The breakdown stops suddenly, and four beats on the hi-hat heralds an all new sound. It's closer to Blink 182 than even Blink 182 are and Lauren sings sweetly, softly again, over a blatantly, non-ashamedly pop-punk riff. Life so cheaply It’s all gone to waste Why did you deceive me I don’t know this place Life so cheaply It’s all gone to waste Why did you deceive meAt this point, Cassie is now down next to the crowd, high fiving people in the front row, and hugging some of the girls who were cheering so loudly at her earlier. She grabs one of them, who is ecstatic and hyper-ventilating, by the back of the head as her next line comes closer, and invites her to scream with her, IDON’TKNOWTHISPLACEAnother breakdown begins This one is laced with long haunting keyboard chords, which bring an electronic touch to the track. As Cassie moves away from the excited girl, she smiles, and the mic catches the girl scream "I LOVE YOU CASSIE!". This makes Cassie laugh, and smile again, and she ends up going back over, at which point she takes the girl by the back of the head again and kisses her. Whilst the breakdown rages on and the crowd surges cause security to drag the helpless out of the front row, Cassie smiles at the gobsmacked fan and climbs back onto the stage, just in time to hear Lauren sing the final line, a cappella, We’re...so....much....lower...when...we....(extended pause) hate.As the crowd cheer and scream for BLS, the drums are battered to a pulp in a spine busting finale. The crowd cheer once again, as Cassie and Lauren stand arm-in-arm at the front of the stage, smiling and waving. Good night Atlanta, this has been awesome. Go get some beer and get fucked up!Camera fades to black. |
