Quote:
Lastnight we were all sitting around the tour bus thinking to ourselves "what the fuck is wrong with us". For some strange reason we insisted that this best of album was going to be released on August 30th. It was ready, why not release it earlier. Being the big man at Nomad Records I called up the business end and asked if everything could be ready ten days earlier. Turns out there was no conflict with releasing the album on the new release date.

So there you go, the Reported Failure and Friends album available on August 20th. Tracks 1-10 on disc 1 are an assortment of a-sides and favorites by the fans and by us. There are two songs from our first album and two from our most recent album. There are also three songs each from the two albums that came inbetween. Tracks 11 and 12 are previously unreleased songs that we wrote within the last year that we love. They are a different sound, but I think in no way represent where Reported Failure is headed, but we put them on disc 1 because we see them as more a-side type material.

Disc 2 was a joy to make. We got to work with some fantastic artists. Tracks 1-6 all feature some of our friends either covering our songs or playing our songs with us or helping us cover a song that we love. Track 7 is an acoustic version of one of our best singles, and track 8 is a cover of a Beatles song. Track nine is the title track off of Billie's solo album and we re-recorded it with everyone and it's quite fantastic. In fact we've been playing it a lot at shows. Then track ten is a brand new song that acts as a teaser as for what is to come in the future because as usual, we already have plans for that.

This album will close the first chapter in Reported Failure's history. After this we will be off to start the new chapter. Billie, Matt, Robert, and myself are stoked to start that chapter and were excited that you our fans will stay with us every step of the way. Get ready for a new Reported Failure album. We go into the studio after the Infinitely Mindblowing tour. See you around.

Sincerely, your friend, Vincent Peters

OOC: Basically the first three Reported Failure albums were not very good as far as RP goes because I didn't write any lyrics and my song descriptions were mediocre at best. I'm doing this to revamp some songs and give a better idea about what the past work of Reported Failure was like. I will probably do the first couple of tracks tomorrow night.

Songs that appear red are ones that I need to get PMs about because I can't write info for a cover of a Reported Failure song by an artist that isn't mine. ;)

1. I Know You
Writers: Billie Beckett/Vin Peters
Characteristics: Warm guitar tone, Catchy bass line, Alternating vocalists

Regular - Billie Beckett
Italics - Matt Collins

Running away
You say it's not what I think it is
You say "When lifes catches up
We'll see the wrong (See the wrong), the wrong we've done"

Oh hun we lack decision
Bad incisions were made
Were made to clean up all the wounds
Were made to clean up the flesh wounds
From the stab of this place

I've known you so many years
And now I know you're lying
Know you're lying
Know you're lying
And I've known you, and known this town
I know you want to get out
Want to get out
Want to get out
So don't lie to me

Oh I'm thinking of the memories
The memories of being you and me
Every single day our bodies grey closer (Every day)
We were just growing apart (Growing apart)
It doesn't matter if we share the same dreams
Cause the only way you know is to get there by selling your soul

I've known you so many years
And now I know you're lying
Know you're lying
Know you're lying
And I've known you, and known this town
I know you want to get out
Want to get out
Want to get out
So don't lie to me

So tomorrow I'm gonna start driving
Driving to a place where you'll never find me
My back will be turned and I know thats how you like it
You can find another boy who you like better
but just dont say you love him
Unless you know you can handle the weather
The bad weather

I've known you so many years
And now I know you're lying
Know you're lying
Know you're lying
And I've known you, and known this town
I know you want to get out
Want to get out
Want to get out
So don't lie to me

Don't say you love him
Unless you can run away with him
(Dont say it. Never say it)

Music/Background: The song starts as Billie plays some warm sounding power chord progressions as Matt goes into the bass line. Together those two things dominate the song. Although written by Billie and Vin this song is mostly just Billie and Matt. Adam who quit Reported Failure in January 2011 supplied some simple pop punk drums. Vin does play some lead guitar progressions during the bridge but overall this song is all about the vocals and there isn't a whole lot for Vin to do. Over the years Vin has been known for crowdsurfing and joining the mosh pit during the first half of the song.

THis song which is the title track off of Reported Failure's debut album is lyrically a throwback to the pissed off at ex-girlfriend type angst that is all too common.

Vin: This is the type of song that you either love or you have thoughts of brutally murdering it. My feelings towards it change from day to day. It is about a relationship I had before I was really very mature or knew anything about being in a relationship The girl and I had talked for a long time about just getting in a car and driving away from our town. When the time came and I wanted to drive away she basically didn't give a shit because she was "in love" with some other guy. Oh the good old days of highschool right? Anyway this song although kind of clunky at times does posess a youthful energy that is lacking in our newer stuff even though it is musically and lyrically better. I guess it is somewhat lacking because I'm not 17 anymore and I've grown up. Either way if you see us play this song live you will probably get it because our fans go absolutely insane when we play this song which is the reason it's on this record. We played it at every single show up until our first tour this year.

Sounds vaguely like:

2. Fold the Wire
Writer: Billie Beckett
Characteristics: Piano intro, soft vocals, Chorused lead guitar

When the time comes
I'll be standing waiting
Still waiting to find something real
To find something whole

'cause I lost my hope
On our last day in love
So I'll wash these hands
Set a new path
Find a new way
I'll get out of this hell
The one we built together
On the day it all broke apart

How many times can you fold the wire
Before it snaps?
I can't love
Because the love we built was hell
So if anything comes around
I'm leavin'

I know we mean well
We didn't think we were building a trap
We've been misleading
Misleading oursleves
Misleading our love

So I'll wash these hands
Set a new path
Find a new way
I'll get out of this hell
The one we built together
On the day it all broke apart

How many times can you fold the wire
Before it snaps?
I can't love
Because the love we built was hell
So if anything comes around
I'm leavin'

Oooh, oooh, oooh

How many times can you fold the wire
Before it snaps?
I can't love
Because the love we built was hell
So if anything comes around
I'm leavin'

Music/Background:The song begins with a piano melody that is both sad and has a Twilight Zone esque scariness to it. The vocals join in softly for the verse. There is a slow and booming drum beat that is subtle as not to overpower the vocals or the piano. The chorus comes as Billie belts it out and Matt and Vin join in playing their instruments in a way to compliment the already present features of the song. Adam's drumming gets a little bit faster too, but is still very subtle. The second verse and chorus are musically the same as the first two. Then Vin plays a guitar progression that compliments the piano and Billie's vocals before the final chorus.

Billie: I wrote this song about a relationship that just didn't function at all. It turned out to be the slowest song on "I Know You" and among our fans is one of the most argued about songs. Our fans who like the more punk side of us find this song to be boring, but our fans who like the more, for lack of a better term, emo side of us love this song. It's on this record because our whole debut album is somewhat of a struggle between the slower emo side and the faster punk side of our early music. I really like this song because it let me explore my vocal range and I love the piano sound.

"I Know You" Album Summary: The debut album from Reported Failure won them fans across the globe and the title track is a massive fan favorite. It was the first steps towards what Reported Failure is today. Filled with a mixture of angst and sensativity the album was half loud angsty pop punk mostly written by Vin or Matt with assistance from Billie, whereas the other half of the album was written mostly by Billie alone and is generally slower and instrumentally more artsy and softer.

Verses and general tone (But absolutely nothing else, and imagine the piano a bit scarier and no guitar in the intro) sound vaguely like:

OOC: The spoilers were all screwed up when I tried to put the two songs in one post.

3. Hope to Get Out
Writers: Matt Collins and Vin Peters
Characteristics: Acoustic and electric guitar harmonization, soft vocals, warm guitar tone, midtempo

This life is broken, dusty and cold
My hands are weak and I'm growing old
I wish we could drive slower
But there's a show waitin' for us in mexico
Maybe some day I'll buy a home
Settle down, start a family, and I wont have to roam
I wish we could drive slower
But there's a show waitin' for us in mexico

Say your prayers for anything
Hope that I find my way out

Please tell me that i'm something to believe in
Lie until you catch fire
Give me any hope that I wont always be leavin'
It's my only hope to get out

This road is long and uninviting
Calls to home find not but crying
I wish we could stop the circus
But the elephant in the room is a big old hit
All these miles only bring me trouble
Making it harder when I return to find the rubble
I wish we could stop the circus
But the elephant in the room is a big old hit

Say your prayers for anything
Hope that I find my way out

Please tell me that i'm something to believe in
Lie until you catch fire
Give me any hope that I wont always be leavin'
It's my only hope to get out

I swear I'll break free
I wont desert me
I've got myself in the mud
All high on the drugs
I am a wreck of a man
I've got myself in the mud
Playing games with the thugs
I am a disgrace to my band

Say your prayers for anything
Hope that I find my way out

Please tell me that i'm something to believe in
Lie until you catch fire
Give me any hope that I wont always be leavin'
It's my only hope to get out

Music/Background: The song starts with just an acoustic guitar, but soon Vin joins in with Billie strumming the corresponding power chords to Billie's open chords. Matt and Adam join in supplying some bass and drums. In the chorus Vin breaks out of the chords and plays some lead guitar while Billie continues to play chords on his acoustic guitar. At the bridge Vin plays a short very warm toned guitar solo. Billie abandons the softness of the early song and aggressively sings the bridge.

Matt: We wrote almost all of our second album "Flux of the run" while on tour. Basically most of us had girlfriends back home which resulted in songs like this one. It's probably the most calm song I've ever taken part in writing. It's on this record for multiple reasons. One is that it was the second most successful single from our second album. Two because everyone in the band loves it. And three because our fans love it.

Sounds vaguely like (Just imagine this song with a more acoustic emphasis):

4. Short
Writers: Matt Collins, Billie Beckett, and Vin Peters
Characteristics: Loud guitars, alternating vocals, fast, horn intro

Regular - Billie Beckett
Italics - Matt Collins

Saw the ending for the first time today
People cried it was altogether tragic

Turn all the lights back on
(Quit watching my life on the screen)
I've fallen short again
(So leave your message after the beep)

I don't care about no constitution
My personal revolution is coming fast
(It's coming oh so fast)

Because I gave up on making sense of time
I embraced all my scars so I can fight til I die
I gained a friend in staying out late and never sleeping
I never apologized 'cause I dont tell fucking lies
(No fucking lies)

Searched my mind for another world today
Like I thought that one might be better

Open my eyes to the noose infront of me
(The one tied by supposed authority)
I've fallen short again
(So send the royalty checks to my family)

I don't care about no constitution
My personal revolution is coming fast
(It's coming oh so fast)

Because I gave up on making sense of time
I embraced all my scars so I can fight til I die
I gained a friend in staying out late and never sleeping
I never apologized 'cause I dont tell fucking lies
(No fucking lies)

Because I gave up on making sense of time
I embraced all my scars so I can fight til I die
I gained a friend in staying out late and never sleeping
I never apologized 'cause I dont tell fucking lies
(No fucking lies)

Music/Background:The song opens with a brief section that seems almost mockingly or sarcastically happy. After that Adam hits his drums a few times and then an explosion of drums, bass, and guitar are pumped out from everyone in Reported Failure. The opening mockingly happy tone continues in the rest of the song. The bass, guitar and drums all help to accomplish this. The vocals are sung in this same way and very quickly to make anyone who attempts a cover somewhat tongue tied from the first line onward. The bridge in this song is one of Reported Failure's most interesting. It brings back the horns from the introduction. The drums quiet down to compliment the horns and bass that make up most of the background. Then out of nowhere comes the guitar. Not subtely, not first quiet or simple, but dramatically. Vin tears it up shredding a solo that to this day is the most complex solo he has ever written.

Matt: This song is basically about life and how sometimes it is utter bullshit. That is really all there is to say about the lyrics. I wrote them when I was extremely pissed off and then Billie and Vin helped improve them. This song is on this record because it was our biggest hit once upon a time, and one of the best songs for us to play live.

Vin: This song took a long time. It was the first song we started recording for Flux of the Run and the last one to be finished. I think the horns section was a fantastic idea. Then my guitar solo, which I both love to play live and dread playing live because it is easy to screw up, was added because it just felt right. Eventually it all came together and is a fan favorite to this day and one of our favorites to play live or listen to.

Sounds Like (If you merge the two songs together and add an epic guitar solo):

5. Preachin' (Hate, Hate, Hate)
Writers: Billie Beckett and Vin Peters
Characteristics: Clapping, violins, acordians, piano

Heard it on the news today
Another fat cat got away
With killin' our opes and dreams
And screwin' our families

Heard it on the news today
Politicians and shit they say
There's no attention to our day to day
Just attention to how much we'll pay

Opinions get blurred in this static of resentment
All I make out is a painful recollection
Of mistakes made lies being projected
No one's gonna tell me what to think
'cause all that's preached is hate, hate, hate

Heard it on the news today
Another fat cat got away
With killin' our opes and dreams
And screwin' our families

Oooh, ooh, ooh ,ooh

Music/Background: The song begins with cheery sounding chords on the piano that are joined by Billie on an acoustic guitar while Vin plays a fairly simple flanging guitar riff while Matt plays the same notes as the guitar riff. Instead of drumming this song is accompanied on the recorded version with a clap here at the beginning. The riff progresses up the neck before stopping when the vocals begin. When the vocals arrive drumming begins but subtely. After the first section of vocals Vin picks up again into a blues progression that ends in meaningless noise. Just at this moment a violin bgins playing extremely fast and in an almost epic way. All thistime the clapping continues until it ceases for the next section of vocals. After this the violin slows and everything gets quite whle Billie and Matt harmonize in a quiet whispery vocal style on the middle section. Then the next vocal part starts immediately and is just like the first two. Then an acordian comes in and plays a happy progression that is soon joined by the violin, piano, bass, both guitars, and clapping. All of these instruments work together in harmony while Billie sings lyricless notes before the song ends.

Billie: This song was a no brainer to put here. The lyrics are meaningful and the music is very soothing. One thing about this song is that we hate playing it live. It's hard to play live because of the different instruments, but aside from that it doesn't connect. Our fans even though they know the song are usually like "What the fuck is this?" and its one of those songs that is just hard to get into. We hate playing it live, so we never do anymore.

Vin: One thing I love about this album is the diverse groups of musicians we got to work with on all the quirky instrumentations. This song was a favorite to produce.

"Flux of the Run" Album Summary: The second album from Reported Failure was quirky and progressive. Just like their first album this second album is basically half new songs that could have easily been on Reported Failure's debut and another half was full of different instruments that wouldn't be expected from a punk rock band. The album is very different from other Reported Failure albums also. Songs like "Short" were a slight foreshadowing of what Reported Failure would become on their next album. As great as thisalbunm is no one would have predicted what came next.

6. Disarm
Writers: Matt Collins, Billie Beckett, and Vin Peters
Characteristics: Powerful and epic music. Enough said.

When the world's turned inside out
The sun only shines to show the bombs fall
Every minute I survive
It's another minute to watch all my friends die
Even if there is a god above
I lost my religion when I saw the war he caused
(The war he caused)

(The war everyone caused)

(We have to)
Disarm the bombs!
Try to stop the blood!
(Can't we?)
Disarm the gods!
Before our world is gone!
I wont stand up
Because I know the pain I've caused
I will back down
Because I know I've exhausted my cause

When the sky burns with doomsday flames
Finally it matches the fire burning in my soul
None of earth makes it to heaven
We're so bitter we kill just for a taste of Eden's sweet fruit
The smoke rises so thick
I hope it blocks out the light, just so I can't see the pain
(See the pain)

(THe pain that the war caused)

(We have to)
Disarm the bombs!
Try to stop the blood!
(Can't we?)
Disarm the gods!
Before our world is gone!
I wont stand up
Because I know the pain I've caused
I will back down
Because I know I've exhausted my cause

Take me to the fire
To the climax of horror
Make like a leader
And lead me to the end
Make it fast like the jet planes
All falling from the sky
The war only ends
With the destruction of day and night

(We have to)
Disarm the bombs!
Try to stop the blood!
(Can't we?)
Disarm the gods!
Before our world is gone!
I wont stand up
Because I know the pain I've caused
I will back down
Because I know I've exhausted my cause

Music/Background: The song starts out loud and fast. Drums, guitars, and bass are all to the max in classic punk rock fashion. The vocals in the verse are loud to the point and dramatic. Vin's guitar riff compliments them perfectly and is fantastic while not stealing the spotlight of the song. Things quiet down at the prechorus while Adam plays a drum beat that is very warlike and very punchy bass. Billie sings the prechorus (which is one line btw) very softly to go with the other instruments. The dominating guitar picks up again for the chorus and is joined by Billie belting out the vocals once more. The bridge is similar to the prechorus, but just before the vocals begin evrything goes quiet except the drums. There is nothing but a drum beat with heavy influence on the symbols and bass drum. The same beat continues while the vocals come in. After the first measure of vocals the bass comes in. Then finally the guitars come in and just in time for the last chorus everything is full blast again.

The song comes at the end of the album "Disarm" which is Reported Failure's first concept album. This song is the epic conclusion. The revolution had been infiltrated by alterior motives and war raged on and began to destroy the world. The epicness of that situation is captured well in the song.

Vin: The most epic song we've ever written. This song is amazing to play live, it's one of our most successful singles, we love it, our fans love it. It was an easy choice for the album. I don't have much to say because I think this song speaks for itself.

Most of the song (minus the brigde) sounds vaguely like:

7. Testimony
Writers: Matt Collins, Billie Beckett, and Vin Peters
Characteristcs: Crunchy guitar sound, super catchy stuck in your head after one listen chorus

When the world ends, we'll still be fihgting
Screaming and yelling, but no one hears a word
We'll be standing on the rooftops
We'll be watching to see a friendly face
Before we all burn in hell, I hope someone remembers my face

As I screamed my testimony from the rooftop
As I jumped my life away to prove a point
My last words remained unwritten
The memory of me, already fading away

When the sky turns black from the bombs
The world will see the scars they've made
They'll be sitting in their lifeboats
Crying for the hope of another day
Before they all burn in hell, I hope someone remembers my face

As I screamed my testimony from the rooftop
As I jumped my life away to prove a point
My last words remained unwritten
The memory of me, already fading away

When we arrive, there wont be anyone to drown out your thunder
People will see who they really are
When we arrive there wont be anyone for you to hide under
Your world will fall with the one you've destroyed

As I screamed my testimony from the rooftop
As I jumped my life away to prove a point
My last words remained unwritten
The memory of me, already fading away

Music/Background: The song begins with a quick power chord progression by both Vin and Billie. Then a fairly simplr bass line joines in along with a strong drum backbone to the song. THe vocals start and the drums play cat and mouse with the bass and guitar. all instruments will play for half a measure and the other half would just be solid and semi complicated drumming. The progressions are switched up for the chorus and the cat and mouse ends. The bridge sees all but the drums stop as Billie sings aggressively and passionately. tHrow in a short guitar solo in which Vin plays corresponding notes to the notes in the chorus, and then joined by Billie on the final chorus. The opening progression is played once more to end the song.

In "Disarm" this song comes early when the revolution is just beginning, but it feel like no one is listening. There appears to be no hope. The song is full of hate and Billie summons that passion into the vocals.

Billie: This song is about feeling alienated lke no one understands you. It also is themed around hopelessness in the form of a suicide. It's really ust about feeling misunderstood and out of ideas to change something. In this case the specific story is someone trying to lead a worldwide revolution and it isn't going right, but the situation can be applied to something far less fictional. This song is another fan favorite, and is the mst equested song from Disarm when we're at gigs. Our old drummer Adam does some great work on this song also.

Sounds kind of like:

8. No lights
Writer: Billie Beckett
Characteristics: Clean chorus guitar, soft vocals, false ending

There's no lights on in my house
There's no light in the sky
And so there's no light around
To see if there's hope to be found

No more lightbulbs over my head
Just clouds of frustration
So my thoughts have gone dark
And my purpose is worthless

Hold my hand until the end
Or put me to endless sleep
Don't let me see the pain of dawn
Lay me down where my cause belongs

No lights anywhere x8

Hold your lover in the end times
Sleep your way to the hellfires
Don't wake up for the pain of dawn
Say goodbye to the revolution we spawned

No lights anywhere x8

Music/Background:The song begins with Vin playing a sad guitar riff. His guitar is very clean with some chorus and reverb. The bass plays the root notes to Vin's riff at a slow full note pace while Adam plays a symbol oriented drum beat. Billie's vocals come in very softly. They show sensitivity and weakness which fits well into the song which is about hopelessness. This continues until the chorus when Billie plays some power chords quietly also on a clean toned guitar. The song continues in this manner until the outro. In the outro Vin plays a rather soothing guitar solo with the clean tone. The song fades momentarily into nothingness. In the story of Disarm this song would have been the last if it had just faded out, but just when you think it would end the channel on Vin's guitar is flipped and he blasts out an out of tune chord in order to show some form of chaos as in the story the sun rises. Then the song ends.

Billie: This song is the odd one out on Disarm. For that reason we love it. I think it shows we can still be great when we aren't just playing as loud as we possibly can.

"Disarm" Album Summary: Reported Failure proved they were a force to be reckoned with. The ambitious concept album was a punk rock epic. It won Reported Failure two singles in the top 20 airplay chart, and a #5 album. The fans loved that it was loud to the point where it pissed off their parents. The band loved it because they felt they had pulled something great off and had done their best work yet. Briefly Reported Failure was ontop of the world with a successful album, and headlining a world tour. Events, however would soon derail them, but the events would result in their next album!

9. Manufactured Radio
Writers: Matt Collins, Billie Beckett, and Vin Peters
Characteristics: Fun guitar sections, heavy drums, dynamic vocals

You got soul
Hidden in this remote control
you turn it on (off on off on off on off)
you got style
With your skin tight jeans
And your angsty graphic t-shirt
you take it off (on off on off on off on)

So when you walk down the street, hope you know youre doin it for me
And that voice in the back of your head, that’s me
And your words, I wrote them for you
So you can be the radio

What happened… to anything
you swear it wasn’t like this just the other day
What happened to living?
And being something just so you could say
“I’ll go my own way”

You got beat
Through some digital screen
You turn it on (Off on off on off on off)
You got licks
Through your guitar picks
You stroke it up (down up down up down up down)

So when you breathe fuck or sleep I hope you know that youre doin it for me
Every note you’ve sang, that was me
And your words, I wrote them for you
So you can be the radio

What happened… to anything
you swear it wasn’t like this just the other day
What happened to living?
And being something just so you could say
“I’ll go my own way”

Though you try (try try try try try try)
You cant escape me
I am the mafia
I am the radio
I am Sirius top 40 hits
I am the radio
I am the radio
I am the fucking radio

What happened… to anything
you swear it wasn’t like this just the other day
What happened to living?
And being something just so you could say
“I’ll go my own way”

I am the fucking radio

Music/Background:The song starts off with a steady beat, addicting bass lick, and ska type guitar chords while Vin plays a very calm riff on his guitar. The pre-chorus gets things going a little bit more as the drums get heavier and Vin switches to a different, heavier lick that will soon be attempted by amateur guitarists all over the world. The chorus gets loud as the band bust out the power chords. The second verse continues much like the first, but with subtle changes in Robert Edward's drumming. The pre-chorus and verse are similar to the first ones. Then things break down. Matt and Vin mimick each others riffs as Billie reverts back to the ska type chords seen in the beginning of the song while his vocals reach a height that fans have never heard before. The final chorus comes and goes. On the outro Robert beats the drums to their full metal potential as Vin blasts out a quick guitar solo that is sure to be an orgasm to any guitarists ears.

This song is aimed at anyone who would seek to water down music. It is about not just someone who wants to come in and just make a few bucks and legidimately doesn't care about the music, but also the people making the music. Because through the years every artist has temptation to just sell out and do what you think will give you your 15 minutes of fame. No matter what genre of music you play, or even if you have any talent, that is a struggle that all musicians face.

Vin: Honestly my favorite Reported Failure song. The instrumentals are very fun, and the lyrics are some of my favorite. This was one of the first songs we finished when we were recording Post-Grunge Catastrophe. It was the first song we did with Robert Edwards, and it was perfect. This song has also become somewhat of an anthem for musical originality, and at this point I see it as our biggest and most defining song.

10. The Cure to Growing Older
Writer: Vin Peters
Characteristics: Heavy guitars, aggressive vocals, bass and drum backbone

Destroy… Destroy… Destroy…

Lets blow this off
And sink into our melodies
Too bad were long gone
We’ve been destroyed by our endless tragedies

The bombs go off, the war never ends
My time is up in this hospital bed
Oil and blood are all I can send
To my family before im dead

So lets destroy it all!
Lets just start over
Before we die I’ll meet you in a place…
Where we never fall
Where the world stays sober
Where these melodies are the cure to growing older
The cure to growing older

The world fights, darkness descends
We try to turn on the amps before this ends
So bring on the city streets, in the dark I welcome all
Anyone who can sing along
So steal some cars, you don’t have to go far
We’ll sing this out before the fall

So lets destroy it all!
Lets just start over
Before we die I’ll meet you in a place…
Where we never fall
Where the world stays sober
Where these melodies are the cure to growing older
The cure to growing older

Let's destroy it all
Rebuild the world
Restart the scene

Destroy... Destroy... Destoy...

So lets destroy it all!
Lets just start over
Before we die I’ll meet you in a place…
Where we never fall
Where the world stays sober
Where these melodies are the cure to growing older
The cure to growing older

Music/Background: The song starts loud with Billie playing power chords and Vin playing a sweet guitar riff while Matt and Robert supply the backbone of the song. THe guitars stop while Billie sings the verse. He starts by singing softly but gets more aggressive and angsty leading up to the chorus. The overall tone of the song is very dark. The guitars are heavily distorted and verge at sometimes on heavy metal. During the chorus the guitars pick it up and it is very loud. Billie's power chord pattern and Vin's lead guitar steadily get more complicated. By the bridge Vin is playing full on metal. Then everything but the drums stop while Billie sings the intro again before everything picks up again for the last chorus.

Vin: This song is basically an expression of my love for music and what I do seen through the eyes of soldier dying overseas. Although we all like different types of music, some type of music can bring people together, and at the end of the day it is all some people have. The last thing I'd like to do before I die is play a really fantastic gig.

Sounds somewhat like:

"Post-Grunge Catastrophe" Album Summary: After having been approached by a multitude of major labels, and ultimately releasing Disarm on Vin's label Nomad Records, then seeing a decent amount of success followed by breaking up, Billie Beckett going releasing a solo album, Vin and Matt going on some sort of musical road trip, Vin living in his car because his record label made no money, and finally getting back together but with a new drummer, Reported Failure had a lot to say about the music industry. This album allowed them to say it all. Musically it wasn't much different from anything they had done before except that the guitars got a bit louder, the drums a bit heaver (which isn't surprising considering the arrival of Robert Edwards formerly of Mind on drums), and the vocals a bit more aggressive and dynamic. Reported Failure on multiple occasions said they didn't care at this point whether anyone bought the album, which makes it slightly ironic that it is expected to sell over a million copies once this weeks album sales are announced and has resulted in two top 10 singles.

Vin: Thanks Glamazon. I'm glad you're a fan!

11. Sunburns
Writer: Matt Collins
Characteristics: Acoustic, ballad type song

Longing
It is like hot coals
Mysterious and beautiful
But in the shadow of flame

Hatred
Takes over everything
Spreads through my body
Infects every organ

Doctors
Wasted all those years
If their goal was to fix me
'Cause you do it easily

But if the world gets old
And we dont make it back
Just promise me one thing
You wont scrape me off
I wont be just a sunburn

Now cliches are all I have to say
Call off the wars I can't fight today
I'm here with you and there can't be
Any other way

But if the world gets old
And we dont make it back
Just promise me one thing
You wont scrape me off
I wont be just a sunburn

Music/Background: This song is purely Billie singing with an acoustic guitar. He begins softly in a very relaxed voice fingerpicking a few chords. When he reaches the bridge he goes up into the falsetto. THe song's beautiful melody makes it an instant one to repeat over and over. There isn't anything else to say.

Matt: One thing that's amazing is when someone like me with all of my problems can find someone who just makes me not care. I could be like the world is bullshit and then someone comes along and even though it's still the same world I don't care. That's what this song is about. I wrote this song earlier this year and it just felt right for the album. I wanted to do something with it and this just seemed right. So enjoy the brand new song!
