Rising pop/dance star, Desiree Shapiro has ended her contract with Junction Records early as she claims that the label is "falling into decline and promotion is very limited or sometimes there is none!". Desiree, who will release her new single "Ketamine" on Sunday, was originally ecstatic about signing with the label. Her debut single "Killer In Disguise" peaked at No.3 and she thought her label was doing a terrific job. Desiree was everywhere earlier in the year and people were really interested in her House genre, making her a great signing for Junction. However, her second single "Live Your Life" failed to make an impact on the charts and failed to chart completely. Talking about the single Desiree said; "I loved the single and it was receiving lots of praise but the label did nothing to promote it! I couldn't do all of the promotion myself because I was busy working on my album". This is when the relationship with her label started to turn.

"Guilty Pleasures", Shapiro's debut album, was supposed to be released way back in April but she decided to hold off as she thought her label was going through a rough patch and promotion would be terrible. May then came, her label still wasn't interested, June and July passed and Desiree was still silent. Something was wrong. Apparently the album was also set for a July 13th release but due to Katie Coyle and Buzz & Hype dominating the charts, Desiree feared the competition. Finally the album had an official release date; September 11th but now without a label will the album ever see the light of day?

Desiree will promote "Ketamine" all on her own until she finds a label. Will this prove that she doesn't need the label and the song will be another hit for the songstress or will her plans fall through and will she end up crawling back to Junction Records? Only time will tell.
