'Cheap', the first and lead single off Daniel's sophomore studio effort
'The X Bond' is written and produced by Daniel and Stephanie Fierce.
Daniel and Stephani Fierce take the sound of post-punk, gothic rock, basic violin composition, trance, dreamhouse all in one to make a fantastic love ballad.
'Cheap' is definitely something that should relieve many Daniel fans who been waiting for new music.
The song begins with a soft paced, gravity defying tribal beat that whimpers like an echo, somewhat familiar to
"Faithless's- Insomnia", but with a more energetic gothic guitar driven support. It's quite refreshing the intro. Moments after, Stephanie begins to sing, portraying the vocals she did in
"Dying in the Airwaves". Her vocals soft, but with sneaky confidence, she's singing lyrics that diss someone's love, by dismissing the fact her lover isn’t of value. "You are cheap, salty like blood, salty like the tears I weep, every time we rise, you fall like the rain, and you flood the streets to expose my pain". The moody guitar riff, glistens over the entire production in unexpected ways. However, if you think that sound is carried throughout the whole production, Daniel would be considered cheap himself. The production does not even kick in completely just yet. The pattern in the production that follows contains an elusive yet striking violin and drum machine that serves almost like an espresso that shall wake you once you hear it. It's literally good and fatal to the beginning of the song.
Daniel is known for his microscopic production, and with cheap, he serves very well. As you listen, the song seems to be dragged out by the lyrics, which are kept simple, over the strike of sound. There's no joking around, once Daniel's verse finally kicks in, you start witnessing a vocal challenge and Daniel seems to be having “shining” moment. Never have we heard Daniel sing with so much confidence and 'passion', it is almost as if they told him, “this will be the last song you will ever record". But Stephanie Fierce is such a classic singer, that she keeps calm and compliments Daniel’s vocals. Stephanie at any given time could blow Daniel out the water, but that doesn’t seem to happen here.
Daniel wants to remind people that experimental music isn’t only just about mixing genres. It still however isn’t experimental in the sense of the genre itself. Still it’s a great listen and it adds substance to the music released so far this year.
The song is expected to be released August 28, 2011 to radio and digital outlets. A music video is being filmed August 27, 2011. - Jerry Hopkins (

Cheap feat. Stephanie Fierce
Here's a preview of the song:
Stephanie Fierce:
"You....are...... cheap. salty like the blood
salty like the tears I weep
Every time we rise, your spirit falls like the rain
and you flood the streets, to expose my pain
Daniel:
It's..... not.... my... fault.
that my heart blossoms.... like a black rose
but it's not that simple
my heart is crippled, but my love is restless
and it could jump from place to place,
from town to town
until someone shares their crown
Stephanie Fierce & Daniel:
It's not that simple
We're so easy to give in
so easy to give in......
Tell us what you think!..
