Well, not all bands that have a more aggressive sound and political/social lyrics are punk. But that's something that applies to punk bands.

I'd say a lot of "Pop Punk" bands, though you don't consider it a genre, have some "Punk
": stuff.Like Fat Lip by Sum 41. "I don't wanna waste my time, and become another casualty of society" that's pretty "Punk" not that i like Sum 41.

If she seeks money, it'll be commercial and therefore "not punk".
I'm not saying that you're only punk if you stay on the underground, but after you reach the mainstream it's hard to stay with your roots, with all the pressure from the label, media and even fans.
Punk nowadays is something hard to define because it varies from person to person. Some say it's all about having gangs and beating people that don't agree with you, others say it's about trying to make the world better. I know I may be wrong in everything I say, but that's my view of punk, after listening/reading/watching things about it.

i said if she didn't do it for profit

Sorry, I misunderstood what you said then.
If you pick a Britney Spears that never got into the mainstream and wanted to play simple music with political lyrics, why she can't be punk?

I'm saying she would be according to your ideology.I don't see why main stream means not punk, that's pretty stupid, nothing wrong with wanting to make cash, and a lot of bands go mainstream not for money but so more people hear your music.

The (International) Noise Conspiracy have some pretty awesome political lyrics and they aren't punk.
I don't know much about Sum 41 but I'm sure they don't have many political songs. 2 or 3 songs maybe, but if you compare to their other lyrics...

Oh no, you didn't get what I tried to say there.
I was trying to imagine a whole different Britney, even if she got into the mainstream later, but I meant a "teenager Britney" that first began underground without any past pop mainstream records.
Punk can be mainstream, but it's hard.

Not really, it's called not caring what anyone else thinks. If I was in some underground punk band and I got signed to a big label like Capitol of something and I made a smash hit true punk record,my follow up would still be punk, maybe even heavier punk or lighter, if the fans don't like it, screw them it's my record, they don't like it they can go find a different band, no one will like everything you do.

Depending on the label, you don't have much freedom to play whatever you want. That's why I think it's hard.
Good you think like that, because it's exactly how I think punk should be. Not caring with what others think about you're doing, just try to "change the world", however you want.

Crustcore is a style emerged from Hardcore with a heavier sound, more aggressive lyrics and usually short.
Youtube is not working here now (my internet is only opening some websites) but you can go there and search for Her Body, Her Decision by Behind Enemy Lines or any song by Caustic Christ if you want to listen. I'm suspicious to say, but it's very good hehe.

I would have to go with Rancid because that's the only good band out of the three. Green Day is a sell-out pop-punk band. I heard some of their new album and all the songs sound the same. Also, Blink-182 is the same way and I doubt after years of being broken up that they would be better than they were, which was mediocre at best. Rancid actually has multiple songs that don't sound the same and they have more talent then Green Day and Blink-182 put together.
