bik.ki the official website for bikkiHello darlings, I'm Katy-Soph Hetestein, but please call me Bikki. This is me ....
This is how I look, and I'm not ashamed. I don't wear make-up, I'm not going to Photoshop myself, what you see is what you get. Don't like it? I'd tell you to go fuck yourself, but I'm trying to attract fans here, so that wouldn't be very good. Anyway, it's how I sound that matters, I am a musician after all! I sing and play some cowbell. I often perform whole songs a cappella, which some people think is weird - why? You have instrumentals where it's just a guitar or a piano for the whole song; my instrument is my voice. Don't like it? Go fu- stick around, I also do a lot of work with guests and backing music, and of course with my precious cowbell!
My favourite part of being a musician is songwriting, and I would say that my lyrics are my strongest point. I'm definitely far from generic when it comes to writing - Bikki's world is a world unlike any other. I describe the way I see things as this - what should be blatantly obvious, right in my face, I have no idea about. But I am strongly empathic and see things which you don't see. This is how the world is for someone with Asperger's Syndrome (I am extremely happy to be an Aspie), and I love to show you my world through my writings, just as I get to know yours!
When I make music, I like to be unique and work with lots of different people. If you're interested in working with me, just get in contact! I don't work to any specific genre, and I'll try anything once, so give us a go! This is a sample of me singing one of my songs ....
This is "Suburban Sunrise" (yes, name inspired by the band) which will, in a less raw form, be the third track on my upcoming sophomore album "Mox Bixbite". (I just came up with that name off the top of my head. I might change it later, but I'm liking "Mox Bixbite" right now.) I wrote and sung all the words, my friend Stargazer did the backing. It's one of my favourite songs by me.
My discography - I have released music as part of the following bands - The Kerry Sisters, Moronic Changeling, Pyromasochist, Shadow Of My Former Self and Bikki'n'Mikki. Solo, I have one album out, "Open Fire", released last year. It didn't receive rave reviews, the world still isn't ready for so much a cappella - there will be a lot more guest artists on "Mox Bixbite", and I have some fantastic names lined up! (The people are also fantastic of course, though some of them do have extremely cool names.) I will also be a lot more experimental with genre, you'll never know what to expect from one song to the next - it's going to be insane! Coming 3rd October 2011! My 26th birthday. I am going to have a massive party that night.
I'm also on tour that night, though conveniently not playing. My next tour is the "Chill Out Tour", supporting Book Of Love, Lily and Arcades. Here are the dates .... 10/2 - The Ottobar - Baltimore, MD 10/4 - The Black Cat - Washington, DC 10/7 - The Camel - Richmond, VA 10/9 - The North Star - Philledelphia, PA 10/12 - Carriage House Cafe - Ithaca, NY 10/13 - Le Pouisson Rouge - New York City, NY 10/14 - Mercury Lounge - New York City, NY 10/18 - The Stone Pony - Asbury Park, NJ 10/21 - Starland Ballroom - Sayreville, NJ 10/23 - Local 506 - Chapel Hill, NC 10/25 - The Orange Peel - Asheville, NC 10/27 - RamsHead Live! - Baltimore, MD Catch us if you can! It won't be a show to miss.
Labelwise, I'm currently signed to Nomad Records, and managed by Dark Blue Music.
Anyway, that's enough from me for now! You know who I am, and I know who you are! BIKKI FANS :D I love you all.
