Hey, remember when you saw that quaint little band that only did Showtune and Star Wars Soundtrack covers? I don't either but I'd love to hear about it, here's a little thread where you can show some love and share some pretty unknown bands with the rest of us.

A band I'd like to share is UNKNOWN MORTAL ORCHESTRA which are a band that makes dazzy space indie rock.

Terribly underrated alternative art punk (I dunno).

First album was black metal but they've eventually turned into a folk rock band, which I dig.

If you are looking for someone really good, check this girl out on YouTube.
Her channel is TheBurnsEmily - she goes to a school near mine. I can't link you to any of her stuff right now because I'm on my iPod, but I recommend checking her out. She mainly does covers but does have some original stuff

I don't think that these guys are necessarily "unknown", but they certainly aren't mainstream, nor have they had much exposure. Still, they're pretty good.

Joanna is a great musician, but sometimes I feel like her songs get a bit too similar to one another. Still, very talented lady.

wouldn't call Sigur Ros an "unknown band", but I just felt like adding them on anyway ::)

This is an argentinian alternative / prog metal band.
They aren't an unknown band because they played in Europe but I think nobody from TRSG knows them.

Mod Sun is fairly unknown in the UK at least. I just love how he classes his genre as 'hippy hop'

These guys WILL be huge. Have been listening to them for 2 years now since formation and the progress they have made is incredible. The production on this video and song shows how this band are destined for great things despite being unsigned. Remember the name, Rocksound are already labeling them as the future generation.

These guys are also a great band! Swedish pop-punk band, who are just like Blink 182 mixed with Four Year Strong. Fantastic video and a monster chorus!

4 more that I would really like to post for now...

Burn the Fleet: Amazing sorta post-hardcore/ alternative/ progressive rock band. I hope they get the recognition they deserve. They make AWESOOOOOOOME music.

Dave McPherson: Best known as the lead singer of this pretty boring band called InMe... however, this stuff is brilliant. Sorta acoustic rock with slight prog and folk tinges to it. Lovely. I may have ripped off taken some inspiration from his lyrics.

Altar of Plagues: Irish atmospheric black metal band. Very good. More well known than my previous two choices, but not enough.

The Interbeing: Best djent band this side of Periphery. Taking influence from Meshuggah, Devin Townsend and some post-hardcore, it fucking rocks.

You may say I'm a dreamer, but I think that these guys will one day leap from obscurity and become a very successful band.

It's hard to imagine such a humble and modest band becoming very popular, but I have faith in this U2 group;

These are probably the two most underground bands I know. Spread the love, guys; these fantastic, yet obscure, bands deserve to finally get some fame.

Kid Anything- Indie/Britpop/Shoegaze; influenced by Sigur Ros, XXYYXX, Kanye West, Blur, Oasis

(Bringing together an eclectic group of influences, Ulysses' songs are sung with carefree abandon by Nick Junk)

Kurt Ulysses - Songwriter, Guitarist, Backup Vocalist
Nick Junk - Vocals, Mojo

Infinite- Alternative/Experimental Rock; influenced by Muse, Radiohead, and The Beatles

(Known best for their experimental music and their frontman's eccentric behavior, the band disbanded after Eric Quillington's death to pursue solo careers or, in Matt Robert's case, peace of mind. Infinite released four albums over the course of their career; Blue Nebula, Midnight Skies, Insomnia, and Dancing about Architecture.)

Eric Quillington (Deceased) - Lead Vocals, Lead Guitar, Piano, Primary Lyricist
Matt Roberts - Bass
Greg Oldson - Drums, Backup Vocals, Secondary Lyricist
Amelia Florentine - Keyboards, Piano, Lyricist, Backup Vocals

"When asked 'how do you write?' I invariably answer, 'one word at a time', and this answer is invariably dismissed. But that's all it is. It sounds too simple to be true, but consider the Great Wall of China, if you will: one stone at a time, man. That's all. One stone at a time. But I've read you can see that motherfucker from space without a telescope."

I've been to watch this guy live a week or two ago and this guy deserves a lot more fame than he has. His name is Aynsley Lister. And also my cousin is touring with him.

Much as I'd love to post a bunch of shit you guys would probably not "get", lacking the appropriate frame of reference, here's something nice and simple and pleasing to the ear:

I was screwing around on Stereogum and found their 40 best new bands list and I was all like: WHOAWESOME

first up is YUCK who I already listened to, you like Pavement, Dinosaur Jr, Sonic Youth or the Pixies...you'll like Yuck:

+ POINTS FOR BEING AN AWESOME BBC SESSION.

Neon Indian, complete hipster:

Then you've got one of the bands that are getting quite hyped up for being the next 'Beach-House' or 'Cults'. Meet the UK's Summer Camp(this quite possibly the catchiest song that I've ever heard)

Finally, quite possibly the US' biggest chillwave band. WASHED OUT:

The lesson here children? FUCK DANCE LETS ART

If you currently like the British rock scene and bands such as You Me At Six, Deaf Havana etc. Then you will love 'Futures'. Awesome band who are making quite an entrance to the music scene

And for anyone who loves their indie. This is the best indie band around currently IMO.
