I can tell you though, there is such a thing as too gay, the kind of Alan Carr, Julian Clarey, Goq Wan, Graham Norton - basically any gay entertainer... You can be entertaining without basing your entertainment entirely on your sexuality. What I mean is stop shrieking and making jokes and queens and innuendo and just generally running around screaming "I'M SOOO GAY! ISN'T IT HILARIOUS? I'M THE MODERN DAY EQUIVALENT OF A EUNUCH!"
But you know, I'm not that into that kind of flamboyance. |

I'm for equal rights for gays however when it comes to marriage it needs to be left up to the individual religious institution. Go get married by a justice of the peace thats fine and you deserve the rights of any married couple but if a specific church or reverend/pastor/priest etc. chooses not to marry look somewhere else. Even though it doesn't always keep them separate the US does have a separation of church and state and the government should not tell any religion who they can and cannot marry. |

I think we should take rights of marriage away from churchs and make it a fully civil affair. |

forkboy wrote:I think we should take rights of marriage away from churchs and make it a fully civil affair. i disagree, i think marriage is a religious thing... now im not religious, but why take one of its ideas away from it? in my opinion there should just be civil partnerships for gays, straights, lesbians etc etc who do not believe in a god or gods etc etc which give them the same rights... |
I hate it when people see me at the supermarket and they are like: Hey, what are you doing here? and im just like: Oh you know, hunting elephants |

Marriage, like everything else good and Christian is a custom co-opted from pagans. The family unit is one of the key components of our evolution, it's what allowed us to travel in small groups and populate the far corners of the Earth. Whether or not it be called marriage, doesn't bother me. If I'm honest, partner sounds as good as wife to me. Edited by user 05 June 2009 09:28:08(UTC)

Because despite all that we grow up in a culture where marriage is what couples do. It is the end what happens to couples. That's just our culture. I don't think leaving marriage in the hands of the church would at all be wise. But then I want to see the church stripped off any and all power it has in the realm of actual real-life as opposed to fantasy lala land. |

No no, what I mean is this.
This thread was posted at a point when Stephanie was running the sob train trying to become a better member, and by looking like she's a big time gay rights activist she thought she'd gain perhaps an ounce more respect from the ever growing openly gay-bisexual members of the forum. Whether she supports gay rights or not doesn't matter, it was just another attention grab.
