You Called?

Two high, and fairly fast paced folk based acoustic guitars, along with an echoed backing effect on the vocal of "do do do" is used during the introduction of the song, before Aaron's high and held, vocals match those of the guitar chords, which follow the simular pattern throughout the song, leaving the seeming fairly simplisitc, yet effective with the use of lyrics used within the song. The chorus of the song follows the same musical pattern as the introduction, but features harmonised vocals from Aaron, portraying a high and low vocal range, which include the lyrics of "I'm sure that I was by the phone, waiting for the text to remind me of home, wouldn't it be easier if you just called?", the song follows a simular pattern within the verses, and as the song comes to a close, the introduction is used, but the music is slightly more complex, and fades into quietness.

Aaron: I wrote this song about being homesick, and missing the chance to talk to people that you rarely get the chance to talk with. I must have been away from home for some reason when writing this, but I think I wrote it 2 or 3 years ago. In all honesty I'm not sure who I'm talking about though, maybe my brother?

Sell Out (Featuring Derek Baker)

Starting with a low acoustic sound rather than Aaron’s signature upbeat style, the vocals of the song are mainly featuring Derek Baker who begins raping in a slow tone, as the hip-hop drum beat starts (focusing on the use of snare drum and bass drum). As the song gets to the chorus Aaron’s vocals start in a rougher tone than normal (with an echoed effect used), as Derek continues to rap in the background "Sell out, sell out, the chant isn't that clear, I'm 100% sure, that i've been misread my dear!" . The musical structure only changes between the chorus and the verses, with the chorus containing a slightly higher sounding guitar, before changing back to the lower guitar sounds, and at the end of the song when a low held bass sound is used as Aaron sings over the top. The lyrics of the song are about claims of Aaron selling out when he get signed and changing in how he is, but he counter argues this within the song.

Aaron: I wrote this song after releasing the Getting Out EP, after a fan tweeted me calling me a sell out for changing my style slightly or something like that, and that I was becoming 'mainstream'. In all honesty I'd hardly call myself a sell out, but still, it seems that you win some fans, you loose others.

You're Alive (Why Ask For More?)

Another of Aaron's songs featuring only a ukeule and Aaron's vocals. Starting with Aaron singing "Why ask for more?" in a long held note, before the use of the C chord on the ukeule starts the music of the song, as Aaron continues to sing in a high tone of voice, staying fairly slow at the same time to allow for the ukeule to have more of an impact. Before the chorus, there is a break, in which Aaron only sings the words "fa-la-la" before the song changes into a G chord, as Aaron's vocals speed up singing the words "If you're alive, then why ask for more? I'm sure that you'll make do, without fast cars and five star hotels, just feel alive", with the alive being a held note, which progresses into the C chord, and same pattern of song. The ending of the song features Aaron raping over the G chord used in the chorus, which has been edited to sound distant. During this raping Aaron mentions his opinions on those who waste life and some of the reasons to live life to the full, which also gives an overview of the whole song.

Aaron: So yeah, this song is aimed at all the people that seem to want what they can't have, and wish there lives away without even attempting to better themselves. Like people have gone to me "oh I wish I could be in your position", and I'm just like "I had to give everything to get to this stage, and I'm still trying.", but yeah, it's also aimed at those who waste their lives completely.

Don’t Say That I Don’t Know You (When You Don’t Know Me)

Starting with a swift sounding violin, with a slight echo following it, the song opens in a manner which would not suit a musican of his age, a mature sound is already created. Aaron's vocals start a fairly low tone compared to Aaron's ordinary option of a high singing voice, it is at this point that the consistant use of a kick drum is used to keep the beat of the song up until the chorus, during this time the violin also changes slightly to keep in touch with Aaron's passionate lyrics. During the chorus, there is a sample of church bells heard in the background along with a brief drum roll whilst the violins continue to play, a brief bass guitar note is repeated in the background during the chorus as well. The main lyrics of the chorus are "Although it's hard to say goodbye, I can safely say that I no-longer know why, for reasons that I can't explain, you'll take your time and ignore the pain." The song then repeats the verse format and chorus format and then ends with the introduction being edited to sound like a broken radio message, as the song finishes.

Aaron: I've gotta admit that this song was heavily influenced by some of Coldplay's songs from Viva La Vida, especially with the music. But then again, I do love using a variety of instruments, and the violin seemed to match the mood that I wanted to be given from the lyrics, which are again about loss and attempting to deal with a loved one leaving my life, but it's more about death than a failed relationship. Overall I'd say that this is one of my personal favourite songs from the album, but that's just because it's the most mature sounding one in my opinion.

Social Network Queen (Or The Death Of The Myspace Whore)

Using simple software, a basic high repeated 'crunk' style electronic beat (produced by Marksii) has been used, along with a slow and simplistic hip-hop beat. The beat of the song matches the speed of Aaron's vocals, which are low and slow, but he uses this as a method of showing his rapping ability, with constant references to those who used to class themselves as 'internet famous' because of their myspace friend count'. The short song doesn't change musically, however towards the chorus there is a distant sung vocal of "The social network queen is as dead as can be, living life normally, how obscene." Aaron has stated that this song was more of an experiment and was classed as filler by himself.

Aaron: Basically, this song is filler. I'm not sure how it came into existence, but the beat was produced by me and my brother a few years back when the 'crunkcore' genre was still seen as relevant in some manner. I wanted to make a song that was electro-house based, but it wouldn't work with the album, and instead I added this song that was aimed at scene kids, yet contained music that they are known to like, sort of an ironic effect. The lyrics aren't really directed at anyone person, and more of the subculture of scene kids.

Aaron: Thanks Alex! I personally thought that it didn't fit, but I'm glad you've liked it! Plus the title is the bit that I enjoy most about the song!

Peace, Love And Other Trending Topics

Starting with a simple acoustic guitar chord, before progressing into decks and a second acoustic guitar playing a simular chord but in a lower key, along with a fairly fast hip-hop drum beat, the title track of the album sets the tone in which it appears Aaron has been aiming for the whole album. A relaxed mix of casual hip-hop along with alternative/acoustic rock as Aaron sings in his fast tone of voice throughout the verses of the song to an extent in which is seems like rapping. During the chorus of the song, the decks become dominant over the guitars, and Aaron sings in long held notes "I'm just trying to spread peace, love and other trending topics, be the one to take and pick", before the song returns to the rap based singing. As the song comes to a close Aaron is heard speaking into the microphone whilst the music fades out, murmering about hashtags and how he wants to trend on twitter. The song itself has no set theme, and is more about a random collection of Aaron's thoughts and opinions.

Aaron: The title track of the album had some sort of special meaning behind it, although there is a lot of diversity I made sure that this one track kept to the style in which I have become known for, the acoustic/rap cross over. The lyrics are pretty much a collection of my thoughts and feelings, the positive ones that is, and it also references social networking, which is how I gained my initial fan-base, gotta say that this is possibly one of my favourite songs that I've written. Plus, the ending of this song, with the murmuring about me wanting to trend and stuff... it's a more natural feel.. plus, I HAVE trended on twitter now.

Photoshop Is A Girl's Best Friend

A high, and simple keyboard note is held in the opening moments of the song, before progressing into a gradually more bassy keyboard note, whilst a clapping effect is used to keep the beat as Aaron sings slowly, with held notes matching the repeativeness of the keyboard loop in the openning verse.A the verse reaches the end, there is a build up in the tempo of the song, with the drums now encorperating a snare drum, along with a symbol crashing before the start of the chorus, and another keyboard note, sounding more like the high one opening the song is used over the top, Aaron's vocals repeat the line "you can't fake beauty like she can" before the drums become a standard hip-hop set up, but have the clapping effect replacing the snare drum, as the keyboards build faster and a more bassy effect, before following the same format for the remaining verse/chorus strucutre. Before the final repition of the chorus, there is a lul in the song, in which the "you can't fake beauty" line is spoken by Aaron without any music, before the chorus picks up again, and then the song suddenly ends. Lyrically the song is another song which is written about girls who believe that their online image is the only thing that is important to them, and can be seen as being aimed at the "Myspace generation".

Aaron: This song lyrically is me taking another stab at 'scene kids' and all the former myspace kids, along with those who fake beauty on the internet by over editing pictures of themselves. I must have been in a mood with someone on Facebook for doing it or something when I wrote this, but I'm sticking with what I say. Don't fake beauty, it's less attractive. I closed the song on this note just because the music is different, and is a style which I've been experimenting more with. It could become a dominant part of the music that I plan to make in the future, so I wanted it to close the album as a sort of preview into a style I'm considering progressing into.
