He is perhaps my favorite composer of all time. For the past year or so, I've been more involved with jazz pieces, and I want to get back into being a full-time classical pianist. Immediately, Chopin was the first I wanted play. My favorites by him are Op. 10 No. 12 (Revolutionary), Op. 69 No. 1 and No. 2 (the latter I played a couple years back), Op. 64 No. 1 and No. 2 is what I'm interested in going for right now. Maybe, I'll go for some Debussy afterwards. I like his style too.
Anyway, do you personally like Chopin's music? Do you think there is someone better? |

I like Chopin a lot, but he's very showy on the piano. Very dynamic, but very flowery and full of flourishes. His compositions are kind of hyper-emotional - melodramatic even. It's sometimes a bit much for me. I think I prefer Erik Satie's piano works, they are slower and more earthy in a way, quieter and more rudimentary. He plays less notes, but he gets a lot out of them. Edited by user 22 September 2011 23:36:31(UTC)

Also, ridiculous geek that I am, I noticed one of the characters in the trailer voiced by Cam Clarke, who is one of those voice actors who is in EVERY English translation of a Japanese thing. I like Chopin because he is very expressive, and has all sorts of emotions in each song. Certain pieces are just silly happiness like his "Minute" Waltz. Then, he has the destructive Revolutionary Etude, for instance, and very somber pieces such as the Opus 27 No. 1, which has a sort of angst to it as well. All his songs have a lively energetic part, even the more at-peace compositions of his such as Op 69 No 1. |

That's what I thought too, but then I actually played it and the story turned out to be not-so generic and really good. It helped me tons with my writing, the only part I actually disliked about the game? The combat system. JRPGs draw me in because their combat systems are SOOO much better than WRPGs and usually the stories are better as well. |
