Title: Somebody Out There Loves Me Featuring: Dominic Brown and Isabel Merjos Release Date: 23 October, 2011 Length: 4:13 Label: Tric-Jam Records Genre: Pop, RnB Writer: Alicia Lena Producers: Alicia Lena, Will.Rocca Somebody Out There Loves Me is a single from American R&B singer-songwriter, Alicia Lena. It is the first single to be released under her new label Tric-Jam Records and marks her 10th overall career single. It was written by Alicia Lena and features vocals from Dominic Brown and Isabel Merjos, it was produced by Alicia and Will.Rocca, it’s unknown if the song will feature on Alicia’s next album but it seems likely that this will be a non-album single to mark her signing to Tric-Jam Records. The song was written by Alicia Lena in August 2011 and recorded in late September. The single not only marks the start of a new era for Alicia as she joins a new record label but it also marks the end of her sophomore album cycle which brought her four number #1 singles and a number #1 album. The single will be released on October 23, 2011 by Tric-Jam Records. Writing And Inspiration‘Somebody Out There Loves Me’ was written by Alicia Lena in August 2011 towards the end of her world tour. Alicia said that it’s one of the rare songs that she’s written which don’t directly relate to something in her own life, she stated that it has a theme that she was interested in writing a song about and it initially wasn’t planned to be recorded but after finishing the song, she decided to record it and after recording a rough demo, she felt that it would work better as a collaboration which is when she decided to edit the song a little which led to her calling Dominic Brown and Isabel Merjos to talk about them featuring on the song. They then met up and recorded the song in New York and within 4 days, they had completed recording the song with Will.Rocca and following the announcement of Alicia signing a new record deal with Tric-Jam Records, they decided that it would be the perfect way to begin her new era with the new label. Song Description‘Somebody Out There Loves Me’ is an R&B ballad which shows a breezy soulful vocal from Alicia Lena. The song begins with a soft piano introduction which complements Alicia’s vocals at the beginning, the only other primary instrument heard in the song are the drums which begin during Dominic Brown’s R&B vocals which fit the song perfectly. Alicia continues to play the piano throughout and the upbeat pop vocal from Isabel add to the song perfectly, the combination between the three fit the song very well. The song rises in power towards the end with the piano increasing in volume and power, the final part of the song shows a more powerful vocal combination from Alicia and Isabel as they give the song a strong R&B vocal which shows off both emotion and strength from Alicia and Isabel, perhaps an unlikely combination but it works very well for the song and the heart wrenching final notes from Alicia and Isabel give this song a hugely powerful ballad feel to it. Songwriter’s Analysis“I think this song is really quite different from some of my previous songs, I did a few collaborations on my debut album which was a great experience for me and it was always something I’ve been interested in but when I started work on my second album, I decided that I wanted to make an album where it was completely me, so with no collaborations on the album it means that the success or failure of the record would be completely down to me and I loved that feeling of standing on my own two feet for that album. But in the future I will always be looking for interesting collaborations, it’s funny though because this song didn’t really begin with the idea of a collaboration but once I had written the basis of the song I felt that bringing in another one or two vocalists for the song would hopefully make this song as great as I felt it could be and that’s when I started to look at who would fit the song perfectly and I had noticed both Izzy and Dominic this year, they’ve done some great things so far and they’re both young and I those are the two people I decided I wanted to try to get to work with and thankfully they agreed to come out to New York and work on the song with me and we now have the final version and I think we’re all really pleased with how it went. In terms of the songwriting, it was a little different for me, In the past I’ve written either consciously or subconsciously about things that directly relate to me or a moment in my life but this song was a very different thing for me, it’s different not only for that reason though, if you’ve heard my songs in the past then you’ll know that I like to create a strong chorus, and you’ll maybe notice that this song doesn’t have that chorus and that’s a little bit of a risky move some would say because the success of a song usually comes down to the chorus and how memorable it is, but I think the song is really strong enough to work without that kind of chorus, and I like the difference between this song and my previous songs. I’m very proud of the song and I’m delighted that I got to work with two of the best young artists out there right now, they’ve both got so much talent and they’re already becoming hugely successful. I can’t wait to see what they can do in the future and I can’t thank them enough for being part of this song.” - Alicia LenaLyricsAliciaIsabel MerjosDominic BrownAlicia & IsabelYou Made Me Believe That I Could Have It All You Made Me Feel Like I Could Rise Tall Then You Stood By And You Watched Me Fall I Guess I Should Have Seen The Writing On The Wall--- And From The Very Start You Knew This Was All I Had You Knew It’s All I Wanted And How It Made Me Sad You Knew It’s All I’ve Dreamed Of And Nothing Meant As Much I Was Standing On The Edge And Then You Gave That Push--- I Fell Back Down To The Earth Feeling Beaten And Bruised Beaten And Bruised It’s All Because Of You, It’s All Because Of You --- Fell Back Down To Earth And Couldn’t See The Light Couldn’t See The Light It Wasn’t In Sight--- Na, Na, Na, Now Baby I Can’t Apologize I Can’t Hide Behind Those Lies Gotta Know Girl, I Gotta Be True I Can’t Lie, I Can’t Lie To You --- We Are, We Are Gonna Rise Rise From The Ashes Tonight We Are, We Are Gonna Stay Strong We’ll Stay Strong And We’re Gonna Fight--- We’ll Fight For All It’s Worth We’ll Fight To Change This Earth We’ll Fight For Us Once More And You, You Were Wrong To Close The Door --- You’ll Never Take What I Have You’ll Never Take It Away From Me I’m Gonna Rise To The Top Tonight Because Somebody Out There Somebody Out There Oh Somebody Out There Loves MePersonnelAlicia Lena – Vocals, Piano, Songwriting, Production Dominic Brown – Vocals, Backing Vocals Isabel Merjos – Vocals, Backing Vocals Will.Rocca – Production, Mixing Edited by user 19 October 2011 20:57:36(UTC)
