I'm sure there was an old thread on this, but I'm likely being a bad example of a mod and member and starting a fresh one...

Anyway, I'm guessing that most people on here are in a band or do their own musical thing. If so, share your music with other people and see what everyone thinks :) Be in downloads, MySpace songs or videos, I'd love to hear what other people are doing personally anyway!

This is what I do. I'm in an Acoustic/Pop duo with my friend Laura (dubbed oh-so-inspiringly, Laura & Lewis) and this is a video from our last gig on 3rd June, performing a cover of "Crazy" by Gnarls Barkley. Laura = Vocals/Guitar, me = Piano, our friend Pete = Drums.

So members, fire away! What do you get up to?

I'm vocalist in a post-hardcore/screamo band called Absolute Zero, who I've based WITIB after.

...

Uh, no vids yet. XD. We do have our own rendition of the Devil Wears Prada's "Dogs Can Grow Beards All Over," and we're writing some songs as we speak. Or... um... as I speak. Yeah.

I make abstract music that most rational people would not define as music. For example, still working on a one hour collage of ideas from another unfinished set of "songs" based on the musical concept known as homophony, i.e. chords voiced over multiple instruments. One of the highlights is a piece (and its companion in the hour-long collage) that is entirely in A. And by A I mean the note A. I've been putting off finishing it for about six months now, but I'm starting to get some inspiration back.

One of the great pluses to this methodology is that I don't have to come up with clichéd chord sequences, I just need to come up with chords. I find I have trouble stringing together two musical ideas because they don't seem to fit. So I get to two or three chords and then I don't want to go any further than that. My current obsession is A minor to an inverted F major, because the only change is E to F, so that the two lower notes can exist as drones...

See? Anyway, time for a poo.

I play guitar and do vocals for my band Sanitarium.I'd define the music as Progressive Extreme metal or a cross between Melodic Death Metal and Melodic Black Metal.I plan on getting a bass soon and drumset too so the songs can actually be complete or I can just do a project by myself.

I'm still in Sanitarium now called Feeble Life and we're gonna record a demo soon, I'll post it on the net as well i guess. Also I'm doing a black metal project using only computers so that it sounds Burzum-ish. And lastly I'm starting a solo grindcore project.

I've been busy with putting a new band together the last couple of weeks. We're probably gonna play a mixture of the more traditional southern-tinged heavy rock I've always written, and some more epic old MANOWAR-ish stuff with lots and lots of harmonies. So far I've found a very capable guitarist/singer (whose guitarstyle is very different from my own, which is nice), and a drummer (who are a bitch to find 99,9% of the time). Hopefully we'll find a bassist soonish, and we'll see what happens then...

Me, and a three friends formed this band called Clear Vision (which is where I got my rp name) and I play lead guitar in it, my friend James sings and does bass, Tori (a girl btw, it's a coed band) does keyboard and backing vocals, and Collin does drums/percussion/wuteva. We play covers usually. I try to write. I claim to be this genius songwriter to show off, but truly I suck (some help from you guys would be nice). We play really any genre of rock, like pop punk, alternative rock, indie rock, wuteva we feel like, cuz we don't really care about the genre, we care about the song. We are currently learning to play to "I Will Not Bow" by Breaking Benjamin, and we can already play "American idiot"- Green Day, "Wonderwall"-Oasis, "Iron Man"-Black Sabbath, "Dani California"-Red Hot Chili Peppers, and "Smells Like Teen Spirit"-Nirvana (no, I don't hate Nirvana, I just think they were too overrated for their success).

Learning to write stuff comes with time. Songs I wrote two years ago were okay in parts, but mostly they were rather errr... lacking. They key (with me, at least) is taking your time. Rework this riff, add a harmony there, change the bridge etc. etc.

well, yeah, that's what my piano teacher told me (i know piano too btw). I just started writing songs about a month ago. I'm alright I guess. There's this one song who's instrumental part I'm very proud of. I named it "Seek n' Destroy", and I'm very proud of it. But otherwise, everything else is........well, it's not necessarily bad, but I'm not satisfied with it.

I'm still working on the ever-unwieldy Homophonies chordal drone project, although I did break ground with a couple of tunes for the long-neglected Snowman Made of Mud EP Dead Leaves Over Pylon Field - even if one of those is actually a reject chordal drone deemed too melodic for the other project...

I'm in a Rock/Metal band called StilBourne, but we do play punk often. Not really any videos or songs yet, we just do covers for now. We do plan on making tribute music videos sometime in the future as tributes to dead legends. We've already planned on doing Smells Like Teen Spirit and Another One Bites The Dust.

I am an Experimental Solo artist. I like to experiment with music, I'm not glued to one genre, though I do know where my place in music is. My goal is to evolve as a person with recording music, traveling and meeting new people. I write all of my music and I think I am very good at it. Though most of is in Spanish, I am getting better at translating. I have recorded two songs already with my friend in Puerto Rico. I eventually will like start going on the road in 2011-2012, once I'm finished with my college degree and after I begin and finish a certification as a Sound Engineer. I look forward to produce music as well, I'm into production when it comes to music, TV.

I am very patient when it comes to my music. I like to take my time and not whore myself out too quickly. I love pop-dance music & hip-hop. But I hate the process of making it it is not as fun.

Yes you will but for a long time. :( But you'll see performance sooner than the actual music.
