Welcome to the official site of Negative Records, home of heavy and/or experimental musical art.

Negative was born long ago in the end of the 90's and was like a mother to bands such as
Infernal Tribute, My Dark Desires, The Crazy Satsumas that helped them get their name
out there in the world when they only began their life as bands. The label over all of it's lifetime
suffered many problems but after years of hardwork it growed in a major label distributing
music of their favored talented children all over the world.

As we growed, more great bands joined us. Doomsters Dies Irae, stoner psychodellic act
Super Highway Techno Buddha, brutalists Sinner, Asunder, the
mega progressive shortly lived Jesus Knievel even the greatly reknowned Casting Thin
Shadows
and many other bands. Also organizing numerous big concerts and the Hellfire Open
Air Festival
in Lithuania.

Negative has always been a label for metal, sometimes rock bands and all kind of
experimental acts and will remain the same. Our headquaters as previously are located in
Berlin, Germany.

Our Bands and Artists

Infernal Tribute - modern alternative/progressive death metal, crossover (now)

Negative Studios

UserPostedImage

Negative Studios which are located in Berlin, Germany work from
2002. Many great bands have recorded their material here and are/were
proud and satisfied with the studios professional work. Previously rapper
Jazzy Beat worked in our studio and helped bands record their material and
he also did all the mastering/mixing. Although underrated by lots of artists by being
a rap artist that means he probably doesn't know anything in making metal music and etc
, a lot have been amazed by how great work he did and his knowledge in recording
metal/heavy music.

At the moment musician Jesus will work as the sound engineer. He has a lot
of experience in this. He has played or plays in numerous bands such as Zyklon, Infernal
Tribute, My Dark Desires, Euphoria to name a few, also helped such bands like The Black Gates,
Sisyphean, The Crazy Satsumas in the recording of material or mastering/mixing of it.
Negative Studios consist of 3 complete studio units and 2 mastering rooms. We have
a spacious studio for general recording or for ''bigger'' recordings (eg: with orchestras).
Also two medium size studios for recordings with an average band lineup.

The studio are available to all of the labels bands but can be used by other bands too for a cost.

In the Free Section people can download songs of our labels artists for free. But it
is for the artist/band to decide how long do they want to keep the song/s downloadable and
will it be only a few songs or a whole release. This is a very good way to promote your band
or your upcoming album and etc. Artists willing to add something to this section for people
to download freely inform us. (OOC: pm me)

New Minions

We're glad to announce two new great bands in our rooster. Firstly some new talents - Insolent Paradox from Mexico, playing some really fast technical and somewhat even progressive type of thrash metal with that sepultura taste. Await their debut album soon! Also melodic deathers Shadows Of The Knight return to us too, which are presently recording their new album in Negative Studios.
Also recently we have talked with Shiny Metal Ass records for the rights of Infernal Tribute material and deal was done. They got all the rights to take care of their old material (and it's worldwide or not so wide release) and of the new material in Asia and Australia. We on other hand of the new material in the rest of the world.

I was wondering if you could sign my band to your label because I need a label and I think my metal band could help you out with anything. I want to be on a metal label and not some crappy one with pop bands because they piss me off for some odd reason. I would love to help out your label and make metal the top genre.

More great news! The new promising progressive thrash/death metal Nile's Fear has joined our ranks and all who didn't have the chance to get their debut album
doesn't need to worry because soon it will re-released with some bonuses. Also there's chances that a high rank band will soon join our label but what our clients should know really is that if they live in Europe, then they should away a big surprise. More about this soon!

Our labels has become the Meka for a new wave of progressive bands ... another highlight The Nimrods are joining our ranks and message from
Nile's Fear that is their single A Farewell To Tyrants, probably a teaser to their second album. Some info about it:

UserPostedImage

A Farewell to Tyrants: (9:01) Carver, Demmel, Adler, Araya - A psychedelic clean guitar chord starts off the track, with David playing a riff quietly, Jackson creating a simple melody line and Lucas creating hair raising tension with simple haunting whispers of the cymbals. As the song progresses bass drums are added and Matt joins David on the riff. Out of nowhere, Jackson and Matt hit a harmonized note, which leads directly into a haevy and distorted version of David's original riff. The band switches multiple between that riff and palm muted chords, the second of which Matt sings over. They pound through a more melodic chorus, featuring an interesting lick that is harmonized. After passing through these two parts, verse and chorus, multiple times, the band goes off jamming on some riffs, and at one point Jackson takes a solo, which fades into Matt singing, accompanied only by an occasional clean chord. The song finishes with the anthemic chorus repeated multiple times. This song is not anti-religion, but simply against the use of religion to control people.

A Farewell to Tyrants Acoustic and Instrumantal: (27:51) Carver, Demmel, Adler, Araya

Would?: Alice in Chains Cover

Lyrics:

This is a call to arms,
Will you stand beside me?
This is our time to fight
No more compromising
And this blackened heart will sing
For sad solidarity

Halo over our demise
Following a god so blind
Sallow in their sickening
Swallow not, the shit they feed

This is a right to life,
Not the Religious Right's act
This is abortion's knife,
Aiming at the wombs of
The Christian conspiracy
See open thine eyes and see, the

Halo over our demise
Following a god so blind
Sallow in their sickening
Swallow not, the shit they feed

Our time will come, our time will come
Our time is now, our time is now

And I won't pray for you

Halo over our demise
Following a god so blind
Sallow in their sickening
Swallow not, the shit they feed

The words will never hold us down
Prayers won't be spared on you
Satisfaction denied
'Til you're dead and gone
Gone
Dead and gone!
You're gone!

This year is really quite productive for us and our rooster. As you all know our label is mainly for metal bands and all kinda off more experimental music projects.
Recently we haven't had any but now we will have one amongst the ranks of metal bands.

I would want to present The Schadenfreude Ecdysiast a doom metal/industrial/dark ambient
project formed by bassist Liam of the now broke up band The Lost.

UserPostedImage

It is is a heavily conceptual side project as Liam says and quite interesting and worth telling. Here's what Liam tells about the concept:

''The name, Schadenfreude Ecdysiast, is basically two confusing words put together that created Liam’s idea. The word Ecdysiast means in fact a stripper, however it was coined when a man named H.L. Mencken was asked by a striptease to come up with a more dignified name for their business. Schadenfreude however, means ‘pleasure derived from the misfortunes of others’. So basically, the story is about a stripper who is generally a nasty piece of work. However, she eventually realizes her wrongs, and decides to correct them. And you’ll have to buy the album and listen to the lyrics to find out what happens!''

Soon we will be releasing their new album and re-releasing lots and lots of old material of our rooster. More about this later.

The Schadenfreude Ecdysiast recently released a live album Reasons To Believe: Live.
This had to be just a reissue of Reasons To Believe but Liam gave us a more interesting idea of
putting live versions of the tracks from the album which really have a really astonishing atmosphere.

UserPostedImage

The tracklisting:

1. Star
2. Fatal
3. End Of The World
4. Atom
5. Opera
6. Reason To Scream
7. Epic Space Portal
8. Eternal
9. The Taking
10. Requiem

Liam comments about the release:

Well basically we had a few talks and things and we decided to re-release it to the wider public, where as it's original release was a bit low-key and was only released in shitty little packaging that I made and was mainly an underground kind of thing. But now I'm just going to release it big style which will hopefully boost our popularity some more and then we'll look at releasing another album very soon after this! Of course there's not going to be any singles re-released, but you get the idea. The album is pretty much about the Ecdysiast and it really kind of introduces her as this powerful, dominant woman who really is very intelligent, but has fallen by the wayside of life and the lyrics really show how it pains her to be in so much trouble, when she could have made so much more of her life.

Some news concerning our rising Nile's Fear. First of all their new single Cancerous Bullets is free for all of you fans to download
in a our bloody free section. And second...finally all of you now have the chance to get their classic Hymns Of The Fallen worldwide.

The record has been slightly remastered in some points by Jesus and some parts have just been a little bit more accented to bring even
more pleasure to all of you. Also a lot of bonus material has been added so you could hang out with this all day. Some of the bonuses include even
2 guitar lessons for 'Powdered Death' and 'Methodical Genocide' by Jackson and Matt, some jam session material and even a live perfomance

Here's the full list whats included in here and descriptions of the songs:

Nile's Fear - Hymns Of The Fallen

UserPostedImage

Disc 1:

1. Warlock (19:35) Araya, Caver, Demmel - The track fades in with a mystical Indian music, with feed back layered on top of itself so that it creates the effect of rising. Jackson and David burst in with a heavy chromatic set of diminished chords, with Matt creating intensely fast feeling by playing polyrythmic triplets in harmony. Over all this insanity Matt lets out a long growl, and Lucas switches between thrashing blast beats and frantic drum soloing. They groove through multiple chugging riffs, after which Matt growls the lyrics to the verse in such an angry tone, you can practically picture arena wide mosh pits. They jam on some melodic arpeggios and riffs before reaching a climactic, face smashing chorus, which is half sung and half growled, similar to 'The Air I breathe' by All that Remains. They loosely come back to the verse and chorus multiple times, with many solos and jamming in between each. Finally smashes through a brutal 6 minutes of "riff soup" as Jackson fondly refers to it.

2. A Unearthly Infection (13:17) Carver, Adler - Matt and Jackson really had fun with the delay, octave and chorus effects on this one. The song begins with an undistorted guitar part, laden with industrial effects, over which multiple different bass and guitar harmonies are stacked and layered on top of each other at odd intervals, creating a confusing, dazed and sick feeling. Distorted feedback begins to build up in the background, slowly gaining volume until it is the prominent sound (yes, we like this whole feedback thing a lot!). A massive drum fill leads into a passage of heavy chromatic triplets, intense drumming and fuzzy polyrythmic bass. Lucas' double bass kicks in and Matt begins to sing, which is more of a cross between clean singing and shouting, similar to Metallica or Anthrax. Various solos and melodic arpeggios interrupt the pure thrash brutality. During the last 3 minutes, it fades back to clean tones, where Matt takes an impressive acoustic solo, reminding everyone that Jackson isn't the only one with superb guitar chops. This song is just as strong as Warlock, and acts almost as a harmony to the first track, showing how one basic song lay-out can be taken two entirely different ways.

3. Push Me Through... The Inferno (8:32) Demmel, Araya - A true melodic metal masterpiece from start to finish, this wave of pure sound pummels the listener's ears with machine gun guitars, un-controlled blast beats and savage vocals featuring Matt's signature cross between incredibly melodic singing and thrashy yelling, interwoven with the occasional growl. We really went out of our way to bring in every Peavy Amp, 7-string guitar and distortion pedal on the market for this one. The band employs an interesting set of scales and chords belonging to a long forgotten Turkish style, mixed with flamenco based neo-classical shredding. The real highlight of this particular tune is David's powerful solo, showing that not only is it possible to play at break neck speeds with just your fingers, but that you can add incredible feel and soul to bass playing.

4. Pray for Closed Arms (17:51) Adler, Araya - Entirely acoustic, this mournful song is a brilliant tribute to all the victims of any disease that causes a long, drawn out and painful death. Lucas feels a particularly strong connection to this song, considering his mother died of cancer after 4 years of suffering. Jackson's greatest strength in his guitar playing is his incredibly powerful acoustic skills, which have a mix of Latin, Spanish and Middle Eastern sounds, hinting at classical training. Through the layering of guitar harmonies, this piece develops beautifully, and practically needs no words to tell the story of someone waking each day in horrible agony, praying for a death which never comes. Lucas displays incredible control over the drums, allowing the rest of the band to provide the context of the song while he gives it texture. One of the best tracks on the album, this song was chosen to show the band's versatility.

5. Souls Entwined (12:39) Carver, Araya - The only instrumental song on the album. This track fades in with Matt and Jackson playing a harmonized solo, similar to Blackened by Metallica or Side Winder by Avenged Sevenfold, although unlike these two tracks, it slowly fades out alongside a sizzle on the cymbals of the drums. Claps of thunder and rain can be heard in the distance as a set of arpeggios on the lower strings loaded with chorus and the whammy bar kicks in. On the third time through, the rest of the band joins in, Lucas laying down a simple beat and David playing a interesting counter melody, over which Jackson takes a 2 minute solo, switching between slow and melodic tones and flashy shredding laden with sweeping and diminished chords, creating a very dark sound. Slowly the song progresses through many passages, some filled to the top with distorted melodies and solos and some as simple as two or three notes accompanied by various effect pedals. Clear into the 8 minute mark, the tune bursts into full on 3 chord savagery, over which Lucas takes an awe inspiring drum solo that would have Keith Moon and every metal drummer worth his name giving a standing ovation. Lasting almost 3 minutes, the final solo leads into a short burst of chugging riffs and wild guitar harmonics and squeals. The song ends on an abrupt E power chord.

6. A Farewell to Tyrants (9:01) Carver, Demmel, Adler, Araya - A psychedelic clean guitar chord starts off the track, with David playing a riff quietly, Jackson creating a simple melody line and Lucas creating hair raising tension with simple haunting whispers of the cymbals.

7. Corpus Christi: Not just a Town (6:57) Adler, Demmel - Our 'Nevermore' track. Clever combination of thrash/death with a almost theatrical sound to it, this track speaks on many levels. The drums manage to achieve heaviness while holding back, allowing the bass to become the backbone of the rythm section for a change. Not to take away from anyone else, but the combination of Matt's growled vocals inter woven with the occasional singing and the chilling guitar playing of Jackson stand out and create a hideously evil feeling in the pit of your stomach. Overall, this is a very strong track and is definitely a possible single.

8. To the Wolves (13:21) Carver, Demmel - The thrashiest song on the album, this is essentially what an elongated version of Slayer's 'Epidemic', with more melodic passages and the occasional death metal scream. The highlight of this piece is Matt's intensely tight rythm playing, which uses many tritones, chromatic syncopated riffs and diminished chords, creating an evil and dark feel, allowing Jackson to go off and provide all the melody for the song. This particular track features a section where the band fades into clean tones and Matt and Jackson take turns doing acoustic solos, while Lucas pounds away some interesting tribal beats. This eventually builds back up in distortion and heaviness and they enter a breakdown, which leads out of the song.

This album has a whole story in it, the lyrics deal with psychological things. Here's a short description of the whole story taken from the bands official website:

There was once a small kid, son of nobody, his two parents were on a eternal struggle, ignored by everyone, his parents leave him behind [Steps], and he is took by another couple, uncapable of having sons of their own, after a while the working man (adoptive father) gets fired and they fell in disgrace, they take each other lives, and harm the kid [Hell], the kid is then readopted by his parents [Son], in need of love he forgives them and live happily for a while [Joy] until a car accident happens, now the orphanage wont take him, so he wanders the streets, being mistreated by everyone [Reality], until he is took in by a church that sends him to a seminary, he becomes a christian until he starts asking him questions [The Sinner & The Priest], before he actually becomes a priest he runs away and on some pub somewhere he starts wondering about himself [I Am], later on that same pub he sees the people around him, and realizes they are all as miserable as him (on the same path) [Highway], he realizes that to avoid becoming one of them he needs to start acting as all those that mistreated him, since they all are succesful people now [Farewell, Innocence], the album ends with a thriving instrumental [New Days].
