![UserPostedImage](http://i650.photobucket.com/albums/uu223/dmilasaki/Mobile%20Uploads/1321129987.jpg) We caught up with singer/rapper Chloe who's declaring musical superiority with her upcoming new album and new and memorable single Liberation after a rehearsal to discuss her new album, touring, and the song people have been talking about, Liberation among some other topics that we are curious about.
How are you doing? I'm doing great, really excited, thank you!
So two years ago, the world didn't know who Chloe was. How does it feel to finally reach where you have so far? It definitely feels great, I've worked so hard to get where I am, I'm just more excited too because it's still early in my career and their so many other things that I want to do.
Do you feel like you've done a good job at it? Getting where I am? Sure, a lot of people would die to become a popular artist so I really appreciate it. I wouldn't credit myself and say I did a good job at it because without the fans I wouldn't even be here, to be brutally honest.
You are recognized as not only a great singer, performer but also rapper. What do you like to do best? Singing or Rapping? See now that's a hard question hehe! I really enjoy doing both because its so fifty/fifty. That's why I mix in rapping in singing in some tracks. Then I have the only rap songs and the ballads. I like switching it up but fusing the two sometimes. Its too hard to choose because I love both.
Your debut album was critically acclaimed for being able to mix many different genre's in one album including Rap, R&B, Soul, Pop, Dancehall and Hip Hop,. Do you consider yourself a one genre artist? Absolutely not! I think sticking to one genre of music can get old and after a while most artists are searching to do something else after an album or two, but doing many different genre's can also be risky. So when I did the whole different elements album, many people didn't believe that I could do all these genre's including Symphonic Pop and what you said previously... I wanted it to be different and we really pulled it off.
Understood. You were part of Alicia Lena's huge Waking Up Tour this year which gave you a lot of exposure. How did it feel working with such an icon? I felt like I was dreaming, to be honest. I couldn't believe I had such a huge opportunity and Alicia Lena is definitely one of the greatest singers of this time. We spent a lot of time together on the tour and she really taught me a lot.
You also got to share the stage with her for a few dates and hit the studio with her, how did that make you feel, that she has in a sense, took you under her wing? I really appreciated it. And it may seem odd but I kept telling her you know..thank you for this.. Thank you and she just tells me there's no need to thank her and it was really an amazing touring with her and then getting in the studio right after.
Your also confirmed to be going on tour with Tisha Jackson. Alicia Lena and Tisha are much different from each other, do you feel you will do well with Tisha? Of course! Tisha is one hot girl! We became good friends and I would do well with Tisha as well. Its two different crowds and although Alicia's wasn't exactly out of my comfort zone ..Tisha's would probably be a bit more crazier. Not saying Alicia's wasn't an amazing crowd, they really are. But I could imagine Tisha's fans and mine put together. Crazy.
Your new single Liberation hit stores last week and got a huge critical acclaim for its uplifting spirit and the use of violins, and tenor drums. Did you feel the need to push boundaries for the song? I did. I wanted something that was really uplifting, like an anthem and not just a regular pop anthem, I wanted something different. And mixing in Violins, drums and keyboards gave me a total eargasm, it had to go on the track and I was really happy with the reception because I didn't want a general sound for the track.
Some people don't know that your a skilled at playin the keyboard, correct? Its definitely a hidden talent unless you were present at any of my Different Elements tour dates or have my debut album on the track 'Keyboard Occasion'
How was it working with Desiree Shapiro writing the song Liberation? It was really fun! She thought the track fit me really well and sent it over, we reworked some of the lyrics got together to write it and I figured out the initial sound I wanted for the track, called up The Wolverines and the rest is history!
You have a new album coming out soon, what can we expect? Something special, something with more direction, something that's really strong. I wanted this album to be personal and I really was focused on giving something really memorable and I'm so happy with the way its coming along.
Do you feel like its better then your first? Me personally, I think its a beautiful record so far and I like it better then my first because there's more direction and the album flows through nicely. I felt like my first was a bit choppy with he tracklisting since of all the different genre's. This ones flows threw. Its almoooosttt finished!
Collaborations with Glamazon, Misery Loves Company, and Tisha Jackson are confirmed. How was it working with them? Glamazon was a fucking blast! She is really different... She's just intimidating from the way she looks and her whole man murderer thing, but if your a girl and once you talk to her and get in the studio with her, the girl is the best and really talented. Our song....defiantly gonna be a huge favorite. Misery Loves Company, I know them really well since we worked together on their debut so working with them was a complete breeze and much different then the song I did with them. Their really so much fun to work with and our track came out amazingly! Tisha of course on Grand Theft Auto, her voice is amazing, no questions asked hehe..
Is there any more collabs on the album? We will have to see....
Thank you for joining us Chloe! Thanks for having me!
LIBERATION is in Stores Now!
