Introuduction
DJ Thunder is a DJ/Artist that prouduces dance and house instrumentals and also creates music to the instrumentals. DJ Thunder is a Electro-Hip artist with a unique style of rapping and singing with her very melody-toned voice he has. The tough and mindblowing creativy Detriot native comes to the industry with his signature name, ' DJ Thunder' that witness him for his amazing tones, lyrics and beats. He started out DJing at local dance clubs where he built up his name as a DJ, then started to love the creativy of dance and house music and soon started to write his own music and recording. He started to pass Cd's around New York and Detriot, Michigan where he wanted to provide a solid dance EP with house influences and Dupstep. He prouduced his own beats and wrote his own lyrics, performing with crazy and bizzare shows around Michigan, providing a new meaning to dance and step music. He gave his tough boy attuide to the mixing, to sexual and his life meanings to his songs, giving his audience a personal and fun vibe to his joints. He loves the face of seeing smiles on people's faces, when he doesnt even smile that much, seeing and knowing his music makes people happy and wanting to dance. He often sometimes pulls different female unknown vocals on his tracks to him rapping a solid verse to the heavyweight vocals to his songs. Electro-Hip is techno and electro music but with a club vibe to it, giving a lot of attuide and converstivy into the music. His drive to become a legend in the music is going to be reach.
Early Life
Chris Nelson (DJ Thunder) was born on December 26th 1987 in Detroit, Michigan. He was raised mostly by his music prouducer father, James Nelson and worked as a meat cutter and DJ/Prouducer at night for the local night clubs. Chris's mother, Crystal never wanted a baby, so told James she was going to leave and putting Chris up for adoption and James took him in. " I never really knew my mom so of course, that took a huge toll on me at a young age.." Chris will always ask James where his mother is and often told me she will be back somebody. " He will tell me little bullshit like, she will be back, she's on a vacation.. soon I realize; she's gone.." Chris put in his mind that his mother was died until the age of five when Crystal came to visit them on Chris's birthday. " I remember her walking in with this short red dress on, makeup and just ran and picked me up, hugged me tight, but at a young age, I fucking knew, why come around now..?" Chris was very not open with his mother, already growing up with his father, Chris wasnt so good with strangers.
" He was a close minded kid, he wanted answers and if he didnt get them, usually he will just forget them and move on.." James speaks. Of course, Crystal left after his birthday. James started to get nationwide attention from his DJing talents and started to travel more around the US to DJ for different clubs. " I enjoyed it, it will a way for me and my son to survive and that what's I did." Meeting a woman when traveling to New York to DJ name Lauren was James's soulmate. " I just saw me and her together for some reason, she was a great woman and I saw it when I met her at a club." When Chris turned 7, the two was married. " It was hard for me to get so comfortable with her because I'm thinking my mom and dad should be the one getting married, not so woman I dont even fucking know, you know? but she was a great person and I liked her.." Lauren took James as a son, Lauran wanted to have children but never found the right one to start a family with. Chris rejected her a lot, Chris knowing Lauren wasnt his real mother and wasnt going to open up, atleast it was his real mother. " I will hit her, push her and tell her to get away from me.. I just, at the time; my head was fucked up. My dad still told me she will be back, she's on vacation. I will believe every word, every word.."
By the fights and tempered Chris, Lauren and James was falling apart after a year of marriage. " I didnt want Chris to do that, I sat down and talked with him, like I said, closed- minded kids, never understands. I had to do something because I loved Lauren.." James somehow got in touch with Crystal to come back and talk to Chris.... She never did. " I remember a conversation where she told me she was on her way. I remember standing outside, looking, very excited. Night drop, no Crystal.. finally, I just went crazy." That night, Chris, being at the age of 9 went in and told Lauren to get the fuck out, she was destorying what Crystal wanted. " I was so shocked. I knew he was so demanding as a kid, if he wanted something, got damn, I'm get it, whether you like it or no..." Lauren, shocked, then James then told Chris that Lauren was going to stay around and she isnt going anywhere. " I just cried.. I didnt know how to react.. I then started to hate my father.." Nights when James will DJ and Lauren watched Chris. " I will stay in my room yo, I didnt even come out, only for food and to use the bathroom.
" It was weird because at times, Chris was a very sweet kid and I think he will think about his mother not being there and just went into this loop." Crystal said. Soon after James started to make big money, the family moved to upper side of Detriot into a more big space when James bought the equiqment to make instrumentals and beats for his music to DJ. " I think that this is where Chris found a escape too.."
James took over two years to start the studio in his home and Lauren at the time being a Real Estate Agent helped James make the studio good as possible. " I remember the day when we finished the studio, the mics then machines and Chris was standing there and he said, why is there any these things, why is there a mic?.. You know dad, I saw a rapper on television and he was talking into the mic, with music, why did he do that?; I just smiled and then I showed him.." At age 12, where James was already a very tough guy, closed-minded and only wanted to draw and watch music videos all day was a kid that wasnt active. He will sit home and watch TV, drawing and watching James record and make beats. " He started to ask more questions about my work, started to play with the machines and I think it started a intrest, he became really curious.." Chris, at school was very lonely. He will sit at lunch tables with his drawing book and draw, he had a few friends, but not a lot. He didnt want to take his confusion out on people; he was very distanced from social.
" I think because he did that to himself; he wanted to be his own person, he didnt want friends. He knew he only needed himself.." James said.
His first year of high school, Chris decided to take theatre. " Again, I was curious, what the hell is all this great, television shit you see on television, people winning awards, all these movies, cameras.. scripts, what the hell is it? Like, the fuck is the big deal? You know what, I'm going to take theatre (laughs)" Crazy enough, Chris fell in love with acting. " I got to kind of play different characters I liked, I wasnt myself, because myself was a asshole kid. I was a jerk. (laughs) so doing that, just had me open up more and I needed that." Building his talent and himself as a person, he started to portay different characters into his drawing. " I had alter- egos man, (laughs) That theatre kept me excited, I had a natural talent for drawing so drawing kept me away from that kid that was so in a corner, scared to go out, until this kid that was creative and happy."
" He got so excited when he will act and draw, he will run to show me and Crystal and that kind of bought this closer when he saw Crystal actually DID care and love Chris, not only because we was married, because she treated him like she will treat her kids if she had any." James said. Chris started to do plays and theatre showcases when his second year of high school did the talent showcase where Chris was singing a Luther Vandross song. " He was a natural. He didnt have this AMAZINNN voice, but it was so smooth and nice, kind of that voice that makes you relax.. he was nice, but not amazing." his theatre teacher, Mrs. Davis said.
Theatre and Music
" I asked myself, what the hell did I get myself into. He will be in CLASS, drawing nonstop, not doing his work and he will run up to me and have this drawings of characters and sets and ask me, can we do this for the next play? His talent was undeniable, so I made one of his dreams come true." At age 14, Chris was featured as a creative director for one of his school plays and co-directed with this theatre teacher. " That was the best feeling in the world. I was featured in the newspaper, I was talked about, shit, I kind of loved to work in that department. It was soo exciting." Even got a award for Best Prouduction at his school's award at the end of the year, taking Chris to a new height of entertainment. " I finally said, This is what I want to do, I love this. Just the rush of it, performing, people in the audience, just lovin it, damn, that feeling is like no other feeling yo." At age of 15, Chris was drawing prouductions and characters for the local theatre companies and theatre groups, even performed in his own creative plays. " But I felt something was missing.." Chris said.
Music
" He had this creative mind, it went crazy. He even painted his room red and gold, he started making his clothes a little bit unique, rollstones and ripping them up. It's seems his own creative side went crazy, but he loved it. He really went into this unique persona about himself and started to call his himself thunder." Crystal said.
" Thunder was my persona. I will draw this guy holding the world in his arms with thunder coming down, but the people having big smiles on their face with music notes going around them, red and white music notes, the world becoming music again.. I just felt like music was also in my heart.." James started to see the huge interest in learning to make beats and instrumentals and started to teach him in the studio industry.
" It was hard, but I got thought it- late nights." > " I will give him assignements, like make a RNB beat, make a jazzy feel, but it never did that, he always wanted to go his own style or his own creative joints.." Chris was very stubborn about sounding like other prouducer, he created his style of music. He created his own era. Soon, at the age of 16, Chris was shopping his beats around town and having different pop and dance artist use them after discovering a guy named Luke that had a studio in a warehouse and used his studio where they also had dance parties that played Luke's and Chris's dance and dupstep music to the party-goers. He also started to DJ at local clubs to a friend of James's at a nightclub. After getting offers to make dance and house instrumentals for some local club scene artist, Chris was on the track with a artist, featuring and become a club hit in New York and Michigan. He wanted to now going further to becoming a artist. He started to record more and providing his own sense of taste in his music, fast movements and smooth notes. He was determined to get his name out there a artist, DJ and songwriter. He's style of music is influenced by his journey to find his true passion of music, art and performing. He is DJThunder. He's goal is to become a icon, in music, arts and performing, even fashion.
