Tisha: Thank you Shaun. So do you. I am doing well. A lot’s been going on so I’m just trying to stay relaxed and rested.
Shaun Robinson: I hear that. You’ve been preparing for your tour since summer and now it’s finally here! How does it feel to have something you worked on for so long finally happen?
Tisha: I mean, it feels great. I feel so happy to be going back on the road. Last time I was on the road it was last year but it feels so long. I am ready to see my fans again. So it’s great!
Shaun Robinson: Do you get tired of the constant back and forth and making sure that everything is prepared?
Tisha: Of course! All the time! It can be a bit overwhelming at times because you do have to make sure everything is picture perfect. Especially for your fans because they invest their hard earned money in to you and with the economy going up and down like an elevator I don’t take that for granted. One thing I was taught at the beginning of my career and one person who always and still to this day in stills this in me is my mother. She always told me to give my performing my all because people work hard for their money. And I respect that.
Shaun Robinson: That is so true, and that is really thoughtful Tisha. But which one do you enjoy the most, the recording process or performing?
Tisha: That is so difficult. (Puts her thumb at the side of her mouth and looks down). You know, honestly a part of me wants to say performing right now, simply because that is my everything. Like , when I am performing I feel so alive and strong, as I try to feel in reality as well. But I can’t choose Shaun. I love how creative you get when you write. I love mixing the harmonies. And writing is something that I’ve been doing since I was a girl. So that is impossible. And I think now, and this point and time in my career that I’ve finally deserve being called a performer because I actually put my heart and love into it. So I can’t choose. Love both of them. Haha. I think I love my job too much.
Shaun Robinson: So Tisha, I don’t want to dwell on unpleasant issues. But we must talk about this. You recently reached a settlement with the people arrested for extorting money from you and you’ve practically proved yourself truthful in the court of law. How do you feel about the drama and controversy surrounding your album?
Tisha: You know, I am glad justice prevailed, because there were people talking about, Oh my god she is lying, and people said, She is just trying to find someone to blame. No, that is not the truth. What do I have to lie about? God has blessed me with many things in this world. Blessed me so much my dreams are true. Why should I lie? I’m just glad the public and most importantly my fans know the truth and that something was up. And the end result was great. I’m not going to succeed what I just said with boasting because I’m not that kind of individual. But all I will say is my album is still on fire and it’s almost December.
Shaun Robinson: Okay, were putting that behind us.
Tisha: (Tisha nods her head and says YES. With a big smile on her face).
Shaun Robinson: Now recently there have been a lot of rumors and pictures that suggest you have a drinking problem. Do you have a drinking problem?
Tisha: I will admit that that drinking has been an issue with me. I have been trying to get it in tact for some time now. But when I am stressed I do turn to alcohol often. So that is an issue I am still dealing with myself. And I have been stressed a lot lately, but I am dealing with it and not drinking as a result of stress. So, I feel empowered about that. But I will say that I have wanted to help with it and I have taken the first step in acknowledging it as a problem. But I will say that when this tour is finished in April I plan on seeking council and getting help with my drinking. So I will probably check into rehabilitation because even though I am currently sober, I need to figure out how never to go to drinking as a council for my problems. That doesn’t mean I will never drink again, it means that I don’t want to ever be an alcoholic and drink to numb myself. So I am taking my health and sobriety really seriously.
Shaun Robinson: Tisha, I will tell you that’s a great idea. It’s always great to put yourself first. You have to be selfish sometimes. And we are rooting for you.
Tisha: Thank you! I hope the next time I see you were talking about something much happier and my health and addiction being intact.
