Description An echoing effect has been put on the lyrics of the first verse, which are played over a whistling sound. As the song approaches the chorus the drums kick in and the baseline shoots through the roof. The chorus involves some very heavy drumming, with the words being sped up slightly. The first two lines of the chorus are repeated before the second ones come around. The base turns down a lot, as a heavy piano-like sound starts to rise through the music; you can still hear the original music behind, but it has been shifted up a key, and the pace quickened too. The second verse has that same echoing effect to it as the first verse did. As the second verse finishes, the music all dies down. Then the traditional Dubstep “wob” sounds kick in. The base goes crazy, and the drums step it up a gear. The final chorus is played over the top of the ‘wob’ sounds, which are taking over the track. The chorus is repeated once, (making it a double chorus) before the track dies down to the whistling sound that was on at the beginning. The first verse is repeated to finish the song off, with some added lyrics to help finish the track. Then one final ‘wob’ stops the song dead.

This horn sound is more edgy than the original version, giving a sense of tension to the song. The tension is broken by the next set of vocals coming in. This part has had the pitch tweaked, making the voice a lot higher. A heavy drum beat kicks in over the horn sound; but the horn still continues. As the first proper verse comes in, the baseline steps up a notch, making the song feel heavier and more club-like. The verse has been slowed down so that every word is heard and understood clearly. A bit further into the song; the (Oh, Oh)’s are a much higher pitch, which instigates the drums to get louder and faster. This then means that the baseline can rise significantly again. Just before Mariah’s verse comes in; the song goes silent – except for the horn; which has been continually playing throughout the entire track. This is where you would expect the ‘Wob’ sounds to come in if this were a Dubstep remix, but as it is only a drum & bass remix the song kicks back into action following a crazy drum re-introduction. The song finishes on a massive selection of crashing symbols and the horn stopping instantly.

An almost buzzing sound starts to play over the last line to lead into the first part of the first verse. As Cassie’s verse vocals kick in, the bass gets higher. The buzzing sound in the background sounds far more like an electric whistling sound now. The drums get faster as Mandy’s verse vocals approach too. The symbols crash at the switch over. As the chorus approaches the baseline shoots straight through the roof, giving an effect of pain with the sudden change in the bass. The chorus arrives and several symbol crashes are heard. The whistling sound stops as a fuzzy sound comes over the chorus. The second set of verses is much the same as the first except the song breaks down between the two Cassie sections. A massive drum solo is played which is believed to have been sampled from one of the big current rock bands; this ends just as the next part of the verse comes back in with the bass shooting back up again. The final chorus is the same as the middle one. The music finishes and a final chorus is played through. Eric Quillington) [Buzz & Hype Dubstep Mix] Lyrics Unavailable Description Eric Quillington’s falsetto vocals open the song over a far more electronic piano riff; the guitar strums and then the drums and the bass kick in. A crazy 30 seconds of pure drum and bass played with the piano riff happens, which leads into MattY’s verse. The song slows down, and then MattY starts to rap. The bass starts to get louder throughout his verse, until the chorus arrives and then all hell brakes loose. Eric’s vocals sound over an intense drum solo, with the sound of many other electronic instruments being played. This helps to create the sense of organised confusion that was portrayed in the original; it is just scaled up massively. The chorus is repeated twice, and then the song breaks down; with the ‘wob’ sounds cutting into the music and staying for the most of the remainder of the song. The third repetition of the chorus comes around and MattY’s rapping cuts in under the chorus again. The ‘wob’ sounds stop as a final piano riff plays the song out under MattY’s rapping of the chorus.

The first chorus is heard now, and Victoria’s voice has been tuned to make it a lot higher than it really is. The beat is very quick and as the chorus comes to a close more sirens are heard. After the first verse, the music slows down and Victoria’s voice echoes over the almost emptiness of the track. On the words ‘Disco Chick’ at the end of the section, it sounds like 3 people are saying it, and all of the music comes back in louder than before, ready for the second verse. After the second verse finishes, the drop arrives. The Dubstep noises, such as the ‘wob’ sounds kick in now. They continue for the rest of the track except the last little bit of the chorus. At that point, there is nothing except the sound of Victoria’s tuned voice. Then the sirens sound.

The song has instantly hit a high point, and as the first verse is played that one line is stretched out to be played through the verse. The track goes completely silent as Eric’s falsetto vocals blast out the midnight skies line again. Then, the track goes Dubstep with the ‘wob’ sounds taking over the track. The guitar riffs are faster and seem to have been layered to make it sound heavier. The Dubstep continues through the second verse and the drum beat is incredibly quick. Then the final line is said and repeated over the Dubstep; and then Eric’s voice echoes out into nothing.

Then a drum smashes and the next line is sung. A drum smashes again and the third line is sung. Then when the words “Recognise Me are sung, the drums really kick in properly. They are sharp and fast, helping to create a good fast rhythm. The verse comes around now and is played in an almost robotic fashion, just like it does at a later point in the original song. Then the song cuts into a much more powerful “Who-ho-ho-ho-hoa” which leads into the “I’ve become a monster” line which is played over complete emptiness. This then leads into the drums getting louder than at any point before with the bass kicking about quite loudly as well. The song continues in the fashion of leaving out music under certain lines in order to emphasise them, and also to emphasise the beat as it comes back in. And when it reaches the line “Rec-Reco-Rec-Recogni-Rec-R-R-Recognise Me-e-e-e-e-e-e” everything goes quiet. This is where the beat drops and the traditional Dubstep “wob” sound blast around. The “wobbing” continues throughout the rest of the track except the last verse/chorus, where it goes back to being the sound of whistling, and the voice again goes wispy.

The bass gets louder as the vocals start, helping to create the sense of powerfulness. This effect is necessary as the song is about someone admitting that they are over someone else, and that they feel good about it. As the chorus comes around, the beat picks up again and gets louder, the drums are going mad and so is the bass. The chorus is played at a faster pace than in the original; it is also at a higher pitch too. The remaining verses and chorus are much the same as the first two. But the final line “I’m over you” is played over the continual smashing of the drum-kit and with the bass line being higher than at any other point in the song so far. The song goes out to a distorted violin riff…

There is a buzzing sound playing behind it, which is presumably to signify the Buzz & Hype influence on the track. The duo produced the track the first time around and is now dropping hints of Dubstep into it to really make it a club tune. As the song reaches “Free-Happy-Me” that is when the music actually starts to come into play. The buzzing sound fades and is replaced with a dance beat which is quick and fast; it is a very drum orientated beat. The words “To be free…”; “To be Happy…” and “in love with me…” are played behind the chorus of the track, which gives a different effect to the song. The verse have been removed from the song as they take away the dance vibe, a repetitive beat and lyrics is all a club needs and this track has been edited to make it one of the biggest club tunes you will find. After the second chorus, Buzz & Hype have introduced the “wob” sounds. These really speed the track up and make it go crazy; helping to make the club vibe escalate and lose control even more. The final chorus is played more slowly than the others which helps to emphasise the Dubstep influences on the track.
