Wonders how the hell he missed Erica's bra. Grabs it and stuffs it in his pocket.

Johnny: That'll be worth something some day. If it's not already.

Joe: You got Erica's bra? Lucky..... They're perky like my wife's.

Johnny: I know. I mean.....

Joe: What?! Are you watching us when we do it?

Johnny: Nooo! No! I caught her coming out of the shower once. They were just there you know.

Joe: Pervert.

Johnny: Tell that to the million's who have already seen the pictures on ebay and bought them. Kidding!

Joe: I know you are dick. But.... I don't think I care if you saw. Look but don't touch dude. They are kinda perky huh?

Johnny: Yep. And I know. No touching. Man code stays. But damn you cut glass with those things.

They laugh and puff cigarettes together while Johnny has himself another drink.

Erica: my writing probably removed any value a used bra would have.

Nina: * looking erica up and down.* well i'll be damned. You're right ,love. They ARE perky.

Erica: damn straight. If one of your underwires popped out,it'd decapitate someone.

Johnny: I would pay a sizeable amount of money to see somebody get decapitated by a woman's bra underwire. Besides I've never seen anybody get decapitated before. At least not in person.

The Encore for Johnny's acoustic show. Still being broadcasted streaming live on the internet.

After Johnny got done having his smoke and conversing with a few friends. He hopped back up on the stage and grabbed his guitar. Instead of sitting down in the stool he kicked it over as a the rest of his band mates joined him. The crowd got so loud that you could barely hear him speaking into the microphone. But he had a hell of a grin on his face as he started strumming his guitar a little.

Johnny: I gotta say. I thank all of you so much for coming out tonight. Those of you who know me know I love a damn good ballad. Well I'm going to give you a good one. I'd also like to dedicate it to two people who I hear are getting married at this moment. I'll try to haul ass and make it there if I can. But if not. I hope you two are watching this. Congratulations. That's my speech. I'll see you down the road.

He grabbed that funky cowboy hat and put it back on his head. Then started to strum out the tune as Joe left the stage with his guitar. Johnny looked over at him with an amused look as Joe was clearly carrying a violin. He clapped his hands a little a bit then spoke into the microphone before he started singing.

Johnny: Haven't seen you bust that thing out since high school dude! You still play that thing?

Joe: Hell yeah, but I kept it a secret. I believe around here we calls it a fiddle.

Johnny: Hahaha. Well I guess then this is turning into a damned jug band!

Joe: Shut the fuck up man and quit teasing me. Let's do this thing.

Johnny: Alrighty.

Sherry was a waitress at the only joint in town
She had a reputation as a girl who'd been around
Down Main Street after midnight with a brand new pack of cigs
A fresh one hangin' from her lips and a beer between her legs
She'd ride down to the river and meet with all her friends
The road goes on forever and the party never ends

Sonny was a loner he was older than the rest
He was going into the Navy but he couldn't pass the test
So he hung around town he sold a little pot
The law caught wind of Sonny and one day he got caught
But he was back in business when they set him free again
The road goes on forever and the party never ends

Sonny's playin' 8-ball at the joint where Sherry works
When some drunken outta towner put his hand up Sherry's skirt
Sonny took his pool cue laid the drunk out on the floor
Stuffed a dollar in her tip jar and walked on out the door
She's runnin' right behind him reachin' for his hand
The road goes on forever and the party never ends

Joe gave the violin a quick run while Johnny played next to him on the guitar tapping his foot on the floor.

Johnny: I like the way that sounds man. Keep that shit up.

They jumped into his pickup Sonny jammed her down in gear
Sonny looked at Sherry and said lets get on outta here
The stars were high above them and the moon was in the east
The sun was settin' on them when they reached Miami Beach
They got a hotel by the water and a quart of Bombay gin
The road goes on forever and the party never ends

They soon ran out of money but Sonny knew a man
Who knew some Cuban refugees that delt in contraband
Sonny met the Cubans in a house just off the route
With a briefcase full of money and a pistol in his boot
The cards were on the table when the law came bustin' in
The road goes on forever and the party never ends

The Cubans grabbed the goodies and Sonny grabbed the Jack
He broke a bathroom window and climbed on out the back
Sherry drove the pickup through the alley on the side
Where a lawman tackled Sonny and was reading him his rights
She stepped into the alley with a single shot .410
The road goes on forever and the party never ends

They left the lawman lyin' and they made their getaway
They got back to the motel just before the break of day
Sonny gave her all the money and he blew her a little kiss
If they ask you how this happened say I forced you into this
She watched him as his taillights disappeared around the bend
The road goes on forever and the party never ends

Its Main Street after midnight just like it was before
21 months later at the local grocery store
Sherry buys a paper and a cold 6-pack of beer
The headlines read that Sonny is goin' to the chair
She pulls back onto Main Street in her new Mercedes Benz
The road goes on forever and the party never ends

He stepped back as Joe actually soloed on the violin a little which drew some yells from the crowd. Johnny did a jumpy fret solo on his guitar and then they ended to the song to a huge round of applause. All the people that were sitting were now standing and clapping. Johnny nodded then kicked over the guitar stand that was on the stage. Joe actually smashed his violin and through the pieces into the crowd. Johnny took off his hat and tossed it into the crowd. He'd then take a bow amidst the noise. There were a few visible tears down his face. The internet stream would then end as he spoke into the microphone then got off the stage.

Johnny: Thank you guys so much! We'll see you down the road! Thanks for coming out!

Sounds Like:

Johnny has stated that they plan to do a few cuts from The Lost Notebooks of Hank Williams that contains songs that were unfinished by the country legend. Also of course will be cuts from his Grandfather's new album and a few of his older songs. After last night's acoustic show Johnny seems to be in good health and ready to hit the road.

Johnny: We'll send you a copy of the show. Though the Coup De Gras for us has got to be the final show at the Ryman. It's a place I've dreamed of being in. My Grandad has already been privileged enough to play on stage there. I feel like I'm really standing on the shoulders of some giants there. The history of the place is just incredible.

Johnny checks in on his blog and the American Standard Tour. There's a few more stops to go and some of the highlight performances have been recorded and will be posted on the site at a later date.

We're headed down to South Carolina currently but last night's show at the Charlotte Fillmore was an amazing one. Naturally it wasn't the Fillmore West. But it might as well have been. This entire tour has been a breath of fresh of air and a reality check for me after what has happened recently. Doing this with my Grandad and being able to watch him do what he does so naturally is a very awe inspiring experience for me. Even at the age I am now. He has been a reclusive musician, a contemporary of Hank Williams Sr., and a pretty much an ambassador of a by gone era. At 87 years old he still commands a presence and plays with a grit that I don't see in others very often. Whether he's playing music or sharing stories all those people have come out to see him and to listen. The crowd last night was captivated with every word he said and every note he played. For me to play with him last night on the encores is the greatest solo experience of my life. The shows in my home state and through Kentucky have also been extra special. You're treated an extra kind of special by the people who know you're from their area. It's something I haven't experienced as a solo musician and it's bit overwhelming at times. My Grandfather seems to take this all in stride and it's his respectable grace coupled with his humility that I want to emulate. We've played some of his older songs, some Hank tunes, and a few from the lost notebooks that were just haunting. The covers, standards, and the few Christmas songs we've busted out as well have been just golden. This has been an unforgettable experience for me. I can't wait for the show at the Ryman! Hopefully I can convince him to post on here eventually. He can use a typewriter rather deftly but refuses to touch a computer. He's a stubborn old mule. Hopefully he'll come around and regale all of us with his insights.

After some coaxing Johnny has finally got his Grandfather to speak out to the online world. These are the first words he has put down paper for public eyes in over 40 years. It is titled "A Cowboy Riding Below The Horizon."

After some prodding from my Grandson I finally consented to write a small piece to the electronic world. It took me a while to get the hang of the damn thing that so many people seem to feel is a necessity now. I still don't care for it much really. Though I do see it's convenience at times. He's currently showing me this whole craze with picking up music which I actually do enjoy. But I still, feel, well outdated is the word. I've seen many things in my near 90 years. I've been friends with a man who is regarded in tales as a drunk with a hard lifestyle. That was not the man I knew. He had a heart that wasn't always in the right place. But it was as big as the hat he wore. For him to still to no be reinstated in to the Grand Ol' Opry Hall of Fame is a travesty to me. We all lived questionable lives. He wasn't the only one. Johnny Cash, George Jones, and a few others I won't name were less than perfect. But I digress.

This whole time is like a first for me. Everybody remembers their first don't they? Your first drink, your first love, your first time, your first time. Those things that stand out as forever memorable. I remember my first guitar. A 5 dollar job from a long forgotten 5 and 10 store. I'd heard Django Rinehart in that store. Then I knew I wanted to play the guitar. I remember the feel of balsa wood and the strings under my fingers. Trying to mimick the sounds of the sharecroppers, the black men, doing their work out in the field. Trying to match tone with their field calls which was a forefront of blues music. I wanted that sound. To make a person feel emotion like that. Seeing those men and witnessing the things they went through. It changes a person.

I've been on top and been widely pigeonholed as one of those "Cowboy" type singers. I enjoy a good song about an outlaw or the life out west. There was some kind of intrigue and magic out there that you could channel when you rolled out a good lonesome or high strung ballad about that life and those men. I tried to change with the times of course and concentrated on folk tunes in the 60s but was still of course known for what I did best. It had me on top and on the bottom. When I felt I could no longer compete and was still being pigeonholed as an artist I left after feeling satisfied with my career enough as it is. So I got on my horse and took that ride out past the horizon line like all heroes do at the end of their stories.

But then I noticed something as I got older and with my Grandson's newfound interest in the older Americana and folk music that I had pretty much lived in. Seeing that it was popular and the younger generation respected it I thought about making one last ditch in the music world again. That's why I made the record and it's why I am now touring again. Can't say I don't miss it either. But with each stage I play and wonderful comments I've recieved is making this old man feel rather welcome again. I feel now like maybe my final ride was a bit premature. I linger around the horizon line and feel I still have one good ride left in me. This is also my formal letter to announce to my younger peers if they may have and accept an old man who wants one more good crack at the things he may have left behind a bit too hastily. I feel that my ride just isn't over yet. These old habits they do die hard.

Johnny sat down for an interview with his own Grandfather which lead to some interesting questions and even more interesting answers!

Sits down at a table with his Grandfather sitting across from him. They both have cigarettes and coffee. It seems this was filmed in a small diner some where.

Johnny:

So you're how old?

Jack:

Last time I checked. I am 88 years old.

Johnny:

Who's your favorite Grandson?

Jack:

Jackass.

Johnny:

Right! What was your last memorable moment as a musician before playing again?

Jack::

I'd say playing with Chet Atkins and Gene Autry. My retirement show with Roy Rogers who saluted me as the true king of the cowboys. I was really touched by that gesture.

Johnny:

Favorite road food?

Jack:

I like any old greasy spoon that's out of the way. Biscuits and sausage gravy or good blt with home grown tomatoes. Thankfully I still got all my teeth to eat that stuff. *Grins*

Johnny: Favorite artists old and current.

Jack:

Well of course I like Hank and all those old country singers. Any of the old blues guys, BB King, Robert Johnson, Muddy Waters, those guys. Bob Dylan, The Band, Paul Simon, Grateful Dead, Allman Brothers. Currently may surprise you Jason Smith, Katie Coyle, Ellie Grace Summers, Brandon Caulfield, Eric Quillington, that french girl Maddie can't think of her last name. If I think of any others I'll let you know. Wait, there is you of course.

Johnny:

Duh.

Jack:

Right!

Johnny: Favorite old timey expressions that confuse modern folks.

Jack: Whew! There's a lot of them but to name a few are uhhh. Grinnin' like a mule with a mouthful of briars, Slicker than snot on a doorknob, Like a snake in a lard bucket, goofier than a pet coon, goofier than a mule kick, barn burner, like a monkey in a side car, over the moon, and there's a few others.

Johnny: If you were still 23 is there any girl now you'd love to have a night with?

Jack:
Haha... wellllll.... If I could pick. Cassie Summers. But for the rest I'm gonna plead the fifth. It'll come out when I'm drunk anway. I'll make sure I tell you.

Johnny:

Any girl that looks good in a cowboy hat right?

Jack:

Exactly! Those one's are hard to come by.

Johnny If you could spend a day with any dead person who would it be?

Jack:

Jesse James

Johnny: Any last words or something interesting to say?

Jack:

An old man always has one good tick up his sleeve. Never sleep with your boots on unless you know you're leaving her in the morning. Don't stay until morning unless she promises you breakfast. Always ride with your hat on and two shots of whiskey is usually all you need.

nina:chloe, shut the fuck up.nobody likes you,or thinks of you as funny.

Johnny: You should see us play poker.

Joe: We need to stop playing drunk.

Johnny: Because then everybody cheats.

Joe: I did not!

Johnny: Did too!

Joe: Well you didn't have to throw the grill off the porch!

Johnny: In hind sight that was a bad decision. The burgers weren't even done. So salvaging them from the dirt would've made it a total loss.

Joe: Poker, beer, and baloney and cheese sammitches aren't a good combination.

Johnny: Sorry about the grill dude.

Joe: Sorry I cheated.

Johnny: I knew it! You asshole.

Last night the New Dixie theater in Memphis, Tennessee saw a one of a kind and historic performance from Jack McDougal and his grandson. This their encore performance recorded professionally and released right here.

After they had finished playing "Good Night Irene" to the crowd and leading them all in a sing-a-long. They took a bow together and the lights abruptly went down. The crowd was buzzing quietly and waiting until the lights went up again. Johnny set next to his Grandfather who was dressed in one of those fancy Cowboy Suits. Johnny was actually dressed rather strappingly as he was wearing black suit with blue pinstripes and a black fedora. He was holding his guitar and began to play as his Grandad's voice sang over the microphone to a mass of applause. He smiled and stopped for a moment.

Jack: Thank you everyone! I'm feel very blessed and touched that you all came out to see me here tonight.

The foreman touched the cold steel lines
The rail bed was frozen with ice
In the distance an engine was keepin' good time
The steam whistle moaned just twice

Down in the cut past the old tressel bridge
Twelve fine horses stood
Masked men shivered in the cold on the ridge
Not far from the Glendale woods

The brass lamp shone from the swayin' train
When the driver saw the red light
Her iron brakes sparked like silver rain
And the metals screamed through the night

The baggage man peered out to look for the fault
When fear froze up his heart
He was starin' down the barrel
of an army colt
That threatened to tear him apart

We will burn your train to cinders
So throw the money on down
Open up your damned express car
And jump down to the ground
But we won't touch that old Pullman
She's Southern and they claimed
They ain't offered no reward
For Frank and Jesse James
Frank and Jesse James

He would start to pick on his mandolin as Johnny stood next to him amd kept rhythm with his guitar. Nodding to the beat as he sang the back up vocals.

In long soldiers coats frayed with years
Quickly they scrambled aboard
The men was a-sweatin' and the women Shed tears
And a preacher prayed to the lord

When they opened the safe
There was nothing for them
So they strolled down through the train
What a miserable sight, these desperate men
Robbin' old folks for their gold watch chains

Now some say the devil had taken his soul
Some say his spirit survived
But we all know he was nothin' but a Missouri farm boy
Just fightin' to stay alive

High above that railroad bed
On a ridge where the pines grow tall
If you listen to the wind
There's a ghost of a chance
You can still hear ole Jesse call

They sang the chorus together once more and ended the song as the audience broke out into applause. Then Johnny stood back a bit and clapped as well. But then he turned to his Grandad and began to talk a bit.

Johnny: What do you think can I do one?

Jack: Why the hell not? You do a tune. I'll just let you have this one.

Johnny: You're too kind.

Jack: Generous is the word boy. This is my show.

Johnny: So I should feel lucky? Your show... I started *Gets cut off*

Jack: Respect your elders!

Johnny: Yes sir.

The laugh a little bit as Johnny straps on a harmonica holder around his neck and starts to strum his guitar a little. Then he picks up a harmonica out of its case and begins to blow into some but starts playing a small melody on it as the spotlight focuses on him.

Johnny: You know a lot of fans ask me what kinda guy my dad was like. It's kind of hard to answer that question. But I find it rather interesting that people actually want to know about him. It's pretty endearing I think. Anyway, I think this song best explains him to people.

He began to play the song playing on his harmonica before he started to sing. Still strumming the guitar as he played the song without accompaniment.

A smokin' long black Cadillac, the engine windin' down.
Pulled up on the sidewalk like he owned the whole damn town.
I heard him talking to some chick through a thick ghost of smoke.
Through a thicker haze of southern comfort and coke.

Say girl you're hotter than the hinges hangin' off the gates
of hell. Don't be afraid to turn to me babe if he don't treat
you well. And by he meant me, so I laughed and shook his hand.
He laughed a little bit louder as he yelled up at the band.

Play a train song. Pour me one more round, make em' leave my boots
on before they lay me in the ground. I am a runaway locomotive outta
my one track mind and I'm lookin' for any trouble I can find.

Got this old black leather jacket.
Got this pack of marlboro reds.
Got this stash here in my pocket.
I got these thoughts in my own head.
I got the right to run or until I got to walk
or until I got to crawl.
I got this moment that I'm in right now and nothin'
else at all.

Play a train song. Pour me one more round. Make em'
leave my boots on. Before they lay me in the ground.
I am a runaway locomotive outta my one track mind.

He played his guitar a little bit and played some notes on his harmonica before singing again.

In the television blizzard lights.
I looked around his place.
I found a cold beer on the sofa and
a smile upon his face. Though I tried
with all of my sadness I just could not
weep. For a man who looked to me like
he died laughin' in his sleep.
Sayin' a train song. Drinkin' one last round.
Made em' leave his boots on the day they layed him
down. He was a runaway locomotive outta his one track
mind.

Play a train song.
Play a train song.
Play a train song.

He finished to a rousing round of applause and nodded to the crowd as the lights came up. Then he turned to his grandfather.

Johnny: Say Grandad. I know this is an acoustic show. But I'm missing some that electric sound. Besides I think I got one you can help me out with. I brought a few friends if you don't care.

Jack: Sure boy. Thing is what song is it and who are your friends?

Johnny: I think you know em' pretty well. You'll know this song all too well.

As he said this the rest of the members of his band took the stage wearing matching suits looking pretty decked out. The crowd went absolutely ballistic. As Mack started up the bassline. He smirked at the crowd as the rhythm cranked up and he began to sing.

An old cowboy went riding out one dark and windy day
Upon a ridge he rested as he went along his way
When all at once a mighty herd of red eyed cows he saw
A-plowing through the ragged sky and up the cloudy draw

Their brands were still on fire and their hooves were made of steel
Their horns were black and shiny and their hot breath he could feel
A bolt of fear went through him as they thundered through the sky
For he saw the Riders coming hard and he heard their mournful cry.

He pointed at his Grandad who took over the chorus and the place was so loud the roof might blow off.

Yippie yi Yayyyyy
Yippie yi Ohhhhhh
Ghost Riders in the sky

Yippie yi Yayyyyy
Yippie yi Ohhhhhh
Ghost Riders in the sky

He reached out and gave his Grandad a short little hug and they actually exchanged a brief high five. Johnny ripped into a solo followed by Joe on the slide.

Their faces gaunt, their eyes were blurred, their shirts all soaked with sweat
He's riding hard to catch that herd, but he ain't caught 'em yet
'Cause they've got to ride forever on that range up in the sky
On horses snorting fire
As they ride on hear their cry

As the riders loped on by him he heard one call his name
If you want to save your soul from Hell a-riding on our range
Then cowboy change your ways today or with us you will ride
Trying to catch the Devil's herd, across these endless skies

Yippie yi Yayyyyy
Yippie yi Ohhhhhh
Ghost Riders in the sky

Yippie yi Yayyyyy
Yippie yi Ohhhhhh
Ghost Riders in the sky

Johnny then launched into another cranking guitar solo as strolled across the stage standing with Joe a moment as he slayed a few licks before moving back over to his Grandad who took over on the microphone again.

Yippie yi Yayyyyy
Yippie yi Ohhhhhh
Ghost Riders in the sky

Yippie yi Yayyyyy
Yippie yi Ohhhhhh
Ghost Riders in the sky

There was no music playing as he sang those last words and the lights went down immediately amidst a thunderous din of appplause. When they came back up they were all standing together and took three bows to the crowd respectfully. Johhny and the band stepped back to applaud Jack who stood alone nodding his head to the crowd. He placed his hands on his lips and blew the crowd a kiss. They then walked off the stage together.

After this show the band went to a local studio and recorded a professional cut of the song they had just played. Some fiddle was thrown in but the construction of the song as it was originally played that night was kept the same. It has been released on the internet and will be put up on the digital song charts.

Lily: You guys definitely have one of the most unique if not most unique ways of performing and I love it. I also think it's badass you're playing with your grandfather, I don't believe I've ever seen that before. He makes my grandfather suck :)

Johnny: Unique? I never considered us too unique. If you call pandering to the crowd unique. It's a give and take for us and myself. We love playing for the crowd and when you see us on stage that's what you get. We're us. We don't try to act any different on stage than we would in real life. I appreciate that compliment Lily though I don't get why you think we're that special. Playing with my grandfather has been the greatest experience of my life. It also humbled me beyond belief. I wish I had half the charisma that he has. He's also greatly enjoyed himself. I'll pass the compliment along to him. He's beat since we got home from the Ryman show. We have plans to another acoustic show here very soon for free in our front yard for anybody that wants to show up. We're gonna take donations though and give it a charity for Christmas.

Joe: It's like we're just in our garage or in the backyard playing together. I think that's what crowds like about us. We act naturally on stage. We also like to entertain and make sure the crowd gets every dollar they paid for.

Lily: That's what makes you guys unique; you're you on stage and off. Most artists have different personas when they perform and they feel they have to act a certain way when they perform and act a completely different way when they are off the stage. Realness is very rare and unique these days so that's why I think that. If I'm near and have time I'll try and stop by to watch your performance but I'm not sure where your front yard is though..
