OOC: Sorry about the incredible delay on releasing this, but I was having so much to do at uni for the past weeks. Now I'm on vacation and will try my best to keep up with this character (:

The first thing you could notice this morning was a crowd of young teens waiting for the CDs to arrive at a local store. At exact 10 am you could see Guinnard's manager going inside the store with lots of boxes filled with CD and vinyl copies of this spetacular and mind-blowing release. At 11 am all you could hear was the crowd screaming 'it's here!' and going inside the store like wild animals.
We were unable to reach mr. Guinnard, but his manager's words were exactly: "Andrew was listening to the album a couple days before its release and decided it wasn't the way he wanted it to be. He went back to the studio and spent every second from November 17th to last night working on this masterpiece. Now I think it's wise not to say his location, so he can get the rest he deserves. He apologised for the delay, but said it's better to take some more days and be perfect then regret it later."
Our music critics spent their entire day listening, tasting, feeling the album and we have an exclusive review of this amazing release!

Gray (5:11)

"A little different from the live version, this one has more instruments and the lyrics improved. The start is a voice, Andrew's voice, saying 'I wish I could say my life is black. But it's all gray. Black is a nice colour, it can be really stylish and it focus all light on it. But gray...gray is worse. Gray is not even black and not even white. It's something in between.' Then the song starts. A bass line is played, followed by the acoustic guitar and Guinnard's low, soft voice. His depression becomes evident with the lyrics."

Mindsoup (7:49)

"Amazing. That's how I describe this song. Guinnard makes your mind become soup with this song. Depending on what mental illness he's talking about, the song changes. It starts slow with a sad bipolar side, then a powerful guitar comes in with a self-destructive side, then changes again to a mix of multiple instruments and guitar distortions to create an atmosphere of an schizophrenic's mind. It all ends with a frenetic piano describing the feeling of madness."

Breaking the Heartbeat (3:30)

"As performed live, it starts with drums playing like heartbeats. When it stops, the acoustic guitar is heard and Andrew begins singing about life and its lack of meaning, about how we mislead emotions to the image of the heart, when actually all it does is tot pump blood into our body."

Blockage (2:66)

"It starts with the sound of a cold wind passing by. Bass only song. To be honest, this song is not that great, my least favorite of the album. It talks about winter and how Andrew likes to feel cold to feel alive."

Sueislie (5:37)

"I don't get this song. Apparently it's about a girl named Sue that tries to commit suicide but only as a way of calling up people's attention. I'd say it has to do with something Andrew experienced through his life. It's almost like he's cursing this Sue. Acoustic guitar and voice only, too."

Night Escape (3:76)

"Synth only song, apparently played by Andrew himself. It creates a dark atmosphere as some sounds go by. A sound of a creek on a door and a voice saying 'time to escape'. Footsteps on the floor and the voice repeats the same thing, and so goes the song. Disturbing, at least."

Cigarette Shaped Cloud (4:52)

"The sound of a lighter is what triggers the beggining of the song. A bass line starts and fades. Some chords are played on a distorted guitar and fade. The bass comes in again, along with Guinnard's voice singing about watching the sky at night and how he finds disturbing the clouds at night. How they can be happy and be shaped like animals and such at daylight but turn completely morbid at night."

At the End of the Dream (10:34)

"Amazing ending of the album, he honestly couldn't have done it better. Another song that mixes up tons of instruments, I was unable to identify some of the sounds coming. It's basically a bunch of melodies that don't fit, altogether, with Andrew screaming from time to time, with all his force, the word 'DREAM'. The instruments keep coming and fading and mixing up your mind and your feelings, then at 10:20 the instruments completely stop. 10 seconds of pause and then we hear another shout from Guinnard, this timesaying 'TIME TO WAKE UP'."

The album has been independetly released and is available on the best record stores in the UK. Guinnard's manager says they're looking for a label to make it available on other countries.

I own:

Andrew Guinnard (Post-punk/acoustic)
Lucy Tankeray (Pop diva/weird)
