Well not necesarily its very different in appereance and playing. But I guess you can say that it has some similarities to Sims 2, but not and I mean not Sims 1.

Oh it is. Maybe its how much space you have in your hard drive. I heard this game works better on XP computers. I have a Vista, but mine works well.

Yeah I took the test here: http://www.systemrequire...mit2.y=18&submit2=Go and it tells you if your computer is good enough to run the game well, the only thing I failed in was CPU speed so I guess that's the problem, I have no idea what it is though :S LOL.

That's what shows on my laptop.
I heard there's a program that makes you use more than just 1 gb of ram and it works faster.
I'll see what happens, but I'm used to slow games, I have 192 mb of ram on my computer and it used to take 20 minutes for The Sims 2 to load.

CPU stands for Central Processing Unit. Basically, it's the speed of your computer.
If you haven't got it and are planning to get it, click the link Stace posted before you do. It's not worth paying 20-30 quid (or however much it cost, I honestly can't remember) for something that isn't going to work without getting a new computer to go with it. Luckily, I failed on nowt bar DirectX version, but that can be fixed. (:

Well yes, the graphics have been update which is not a major deal. It is essentially the same as the last 2 Sims games, but with less features because they haven't released any of the 2 dozen or so expansions yet.

I found it! Some people say it worked, and some say it didn't, but the name is Swift Shader.
http://rapidshare.com/fi..._V2.0__Sem_Logo_.7z.html

Instructions:

1- Download and extract with Winrar
2- Copy the 3 files to C:\Program Files\Eletronic Arts\The Sims 3\Game\Bin
3- Play the game.

Thanks! What's it exactly supposed to do though? Just speed the game up somehow or something?

The Sims 3 asks for 1 gb of ram, this thing is supposed to put more ram to work on it, so the CPU speed won't matter that much.
So yeah, it'll speed up the game.

I loved the Sims 2, had all of the games and whatnot. I pre-prdered The Sims 3 and the prima game guide. I hate it. The speed buttons are glitched on my computer, and everything takes foreverrrrrrrr. Hate it.

Have you tried turning the graphics options down? I don't know what options are in the game, but usually you can tone it down a few notches. What graphics card is in your mac? Because the specs seem better than my macbook, and the graphics card in it could easily run The Sims 3

I have whatever came standard on the Early to Mid 2008 models. All the graphics are turned down. I think its a GMA 3100 or something like that, which is on the recommended requirements list.

Does the game run slow, or is it just loading that's slow?

Loading's fine. Game is fine. The speed buttons in-game are glitched and don't work. They are for a lot of people.

Ah, just wait a few days for a patch. They should fix a problem like that within a few days to a week. Although with the Mac, I'm not so sure. Playing games on the Mac is kind of like reading a dictionary with a telescope.
