Well, Caroline's leaving on Friday, and heading back to New Zealand by the end of the month, and I still haven't said anything. Oh well. Serves me right I guess. |

I won't even have much of a chance to say anything unless I just come out with it at work, and that's probably just a recipe for awfulness. |

Lost discussion time
In my best Shiela Brofloski impression, "WHAT WHAT WHAAAT?" Because seriously. Sayid decides he's come back to kill Ben. And then despite being a contract killer he shoots him once in the chest & then runs away. That was really dumb. And Locke is back from the dead? Deary me. Oh, & way to go in totally skipping forward 3 years, leaving me hanging as to what happened to Faraday.

Congrats friend, you've just witnessed the Lost turning point that will define the rest of your viewing experience. Otherwise: |

Yes, that thought did cross my mind, but I tend to use the "jumped the shark" phrase a bit (a lot) too much so I tried to resist. My new years resolution is to use it as little as possible. |

Trust me, some of the things you're complaining about actually have better payoffs than you might be expecting. Others not so much I guess. Also, jumped the shark? Lost jumped the shark when the shot the polar bear. |

Well I did guess that they HAVE to say something more about Faraday
Honestly though, it is a supremely silly show. |

You know what show I remembered that should have never ever been cancelled? If Tim Burton made a TV Show, this would be it. |

Just heard that Bring Me The Horizon are incorporating many post-rock influences in their new record. That is something i can't imagine, however i know it will sound great! I just hope they don't go back to making that bullshit excuse for music they put on their first album. |

Y'know, the only time I ever get reminded that Bring Me The Horizon still exist these days is when their frontman is either egging folk on to attack him, or he's pissing on groupies. |

Honestly though, it is a supremely silly show. Yes, it is. That's what I love about it, how absolutely batshit crazy it gets, but also how everything is in some way a kind of hyper-exaggerated reflection of something else in a larger narrative sense. The island is really just a device through which every character faces their demons, their hopes and fears. Stripped of all the pretence and banality of reality, stripped down to their very essence, like a crucible or something. The thing about Lost for me is that it's not so much the story itself that's important, as it is the way it is told. Obviously there's a few threads that get left loose, but they weave a pretty intricate picture with the ones they do keep hold of. Edited by user 07 January 2012 09:56:04(UTC)

I guess I tend to prefer shows with a tighter plot. I don't so much like this show as I am just compelled to find out how the fuck they write there way out of all the daftness to a reasonably satisfying conclusion. My enjoyment of latter seasons has been hurt
basically because all the characters I'm most interested in are either killed off, as in the case of Faraday, Mr Eko & Charlie or we get very little of them lately as in the case of Hume. Jack, eh. Hurley, eh. Miles, a bit better. Sawyer sure. Kate eh. Locke...fucksake. Linus, OK.
So I remember you saying I hadn't come across your favourite character yet back in Glasgow. Now that I'm nearly done series 5 (1 episode to go), can you finally tell me who it is? |

That's another show like Lost where I'll probably just wait until the run is done before I catch up with it. |

I'd start now, I've watched 5 episodes of Season 1 (because I was kicking around with it like you were) but in those 5 episodes I was pretty pulled in. Season 2 is supposed to pull out all the stops and for a show with no stops to begin with, that kinda scares me. |
